  1. Hmm I don't think so, I'm using the stock thermal pad that comes with the system (blue pad)
  2. I recently purchased a 2TB 970 Evo plus for my Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 2 laptop and I've noticed that the drive runs at a much higher temperature than both the original Intel and 1tb WD SN750 (idle temp of 40 C and 45 C respectively). The 970 runs at 60 C idle and around 72/73 C while under load (CystalDiskMark). Is this the expected temperature for the drive? I know that the critial temperature warning for the drive is 85 C, but 72/73 seems awfully high to me. Should I be worried about these temperatures and exchange it for another drive?
  3. Thanks for the help guys. I guess I should mention that I live in Canada so a site that ships internationally would be preferred.
  4. I was just wondering if anyone knew of or has bought from any laptop battery replacement website that actually carries decent/well made batteries. I've bought laptop batteries off of Ebay and Amazon before, but the quality of the batteries from 3rd party sellers were terrible (held half the charge at best). Could anyone point me to the direction of a respectable 3rd party battery website? Thanks.
  5. Any type of specific situations? And I guess the only way is to grab like a kitchen timer or something?
  6. I wanted to test the battery life of my laptop (it feels like it's a little short), so I wanted to get some recommendations for how people test battery life (programs, methods, etc). I currently have the X1 Extreme Gen 2 and people are claiming 7-8+ hours of battery life, but I don't think I'm reaching that amount. I use the laptop for browsing the internet, watching videos and other light tasks when it's on battery and plug it it when gaming of using other programs that require heavy GPU usage. Thanks.
  7. I recently purchased a Thinkpad X1 Extreme and I wanted to install a new M.2 drive into it. I bought the XPG SX8200 Pro 1TB for the secondary m.2 slot, but after installing it, I noticed that it was flexing slightly. This is apparently because the drive has chips on both sides of it, so the drive doesn't sit flesh with the motherboard. This forum post basically describes what is happening with my drive: https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/new-m-2-ssd-with-chips-on-both-sides-is-bending-when-installed-on-mobo-see-pic.2263014/ I've been looking at other forum posts where people say this is bad while others say not to worry, however, I wanted to get a third opinion on it. Should I continue using the drive or should I take it out? I'm not sure if I can return the drive either, since I already applied the heat sink onto it. Anyone have any advice? Thanks.
