  1. Sorry should have said I tried the original HDD as well with no joy.
  2. Right Lads and Lasses, get your thinking caps on. Yesterday I pulled my brothers Lenovo Z50-75 laptop apart to clean, reapply thermal paste and install an SSD. When i reassembled it it wouldn't post with the 8GB RAM module that was in it. It will however boot with the 2x4GB set from my HP laptop, and the HP with boot the 8GB module. If the Lenovo has one of the 4GB and the troublesome 8GB installed it boots but shows 12GB installed with 8GB hardware reserved, If the module was new I'd say its not compatible but its been working in the system for 4 years. Anyone got any solutions or have had similar experiences? Ta Muchly
  3. Current plans in pic, budget is around £500 (GBP). I went for the WD M.2 to save space but can go for a SATA SSD instead, likewise could drop the CPU back to a Ryzen 3 or reduce the RAM to a 2 x 4GB set. My idea was the Ryzen 5 which should keep it going for years then should he develop a love of more intensive games then he could save up and throw a GPU in without having to alter much else.
  4. Hi All So i'm planning a build for my brother on a tight budget, the plan currently has a Ryzen 5 3400G. My question is: how good is the Vega 11 iGPU on board the 3400G? how does it compare to discrete graphics (RX 560, RX 550 or worse)? and finally would it be better to drop the CPU to a Ryzen 3 3200G and sacrifice a few other creature comforts (SATA instead of NVMe etc) and get a cheap GPU? I should say he's not much of a gamer (we're talking Football Manager, Euro Trucks etc) and will only be working at 1080p max Cheers
