  1. Hello, so after I ordered parts for my new PC yesterday (3700x, RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio) I'm still looking for a monitor. I'd like to get a 1440p 144hz preferably 27" model. For games I don't have a specific genre I mainly play, it's mostly across the board, so maybe a RTS here, a Shooter there and so on (and a lot of Path of Exile every 3 months). Monitors that peaked my interest so far ist the Gigabyte Aorus AD27QD (626,56USD) and the LG 27GL850-B (652,06USD) The LG unfortunately won't ship for a while now, most likely not until late september, it just got listed today at a few dealers here. The GB is also on Amazon Warehouse Deals for 565,36 "As new", but I'm not so sure about buying a used monitor, although returning wouldn't be an issue. The prices are converted from euro (I'm in austria), include taxes and shipping and might vary quite a bit from US and CA prices. For reference I'm currently using a Q24 Full HD View (TN), it's around 10 years old now and was probably more on the cheap side. So my questions now: Are the mentioned monitors worth the price I stated here? Should I pay the higher price for an IPS panel, will the difference really be that significant as many people claim? Of course I'd also be very happy about other recommendations and general advice. For my price point, I'd prefer not to go over 600€ (665USD), but I would be willing to go higher if it seems necessary. Cheaper is better of course, but after spending 10 years with my current one, I'm willing to pay more for a quality model that will last me for the next few years. Thank you very much! Edit: Also what about this one https://geizhals.at/acer-predator-xb1-xb271hubmiprz-um-hx1ee-005-a1319580.html Available for 600USD atm
  2. It's definitely the best option for germany/austria. It's also pretty great for browsing hardware in general, because for most categorys you get an incredible amount of filtering options and product specs (check that out Amazon... :D). This is the english (UK) version of the site: https://skinflint.co.uk/ SSD is a good point, could probably swap that one out, the performance difference will probably be hardly noticable. A b450 board would also probably be the smarter choice, even if I'd need PCIe 4.0 somewhere down the line, the boards might later be cheap enough that I get to the same price even if I buy another one. Do you maybe have a suggestion for a good board?
  3. Hi, so I think I am done so far with the configuration for my new PC, would just like some last opinions before I start ordering everything. Main use case will be gaming, I also want to buy a 1440p 144hz monitor. Link to the config (this is a german/austrian site very similar to pcpartpicker, I hope that's okay): https://geizhals.at/?cat=WL-1259076 I already have the NH-D14 from my old PC, so I'd like to keep using it. Price for everything converted is 2013$, including tax and shipping
  4. The Define R6 was actually my original choice, but then I read here and there and found some people mention that an open airflow case might be better even in terms of noise at a better level of cooling (if you would want the sound-dampened case to run at these temperatures). What I'm also wondering now is the high-frequency noise, my current case (Sharkoon BD28) has quite a bit of that, and it does get annoying at times, so maybe a noise-dampening case will dampen these good enough that even if I throw a couple more fans in it the sound won't really bother me. But I barely have any hands-on experience with different kinds of cases, so it's hard for me to "imagine" the different noise-levels and sound-profiles. Do you agree with that?
  5. Is the reason for psu fan side up because it has better air access and thus the fan spins lower? Also I know you don't want to mention specific cases, but could I tempt you to give recommendation(s) for a case that fits these checkboxes (or most of them)? But if you don't want to or can't, no problem. I reckon there aren't really cases with a restriction-free front and sound dampening, so I suppose I'll have to add that by myself. And thanks alot for the reply, that's definitely very helpful information!
  6. I actually thought about that, a Thermaltake Core P3/5 for example, but I have a cat and no space on my desk to put it, and no ideal place to wall mount it. So I am not really sure about that.
  7. Hi, I am planning to build a new PC soon, and now I am looking for a good case to go with it. I would like to get one with a good balance between noise and cooling, I don't need a completely silent case, but I'd prefer if it wouldn't be too loud, while still maintaing decent cooling capabilities. I don't care too much about RGB, color scheme or overall design, good performance is the priority for me. Price limit is around 150$, but I'm willing to go a bit higher if the case is worth it. Hardware I'll (probably) use: Ryzen 7 3700x w/ Noctua NH-D14 (already owned) MSI GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER Gaming X Trio be quiet! Pure Power 11 CM 700W (mainly a placeholder, haven't done proper research for PSU yet) Mainboard not sure yet either, but probably a ATX-Board I also have 3 120mm Noctua Case Fans which I could reuse from my old PC (can't tell exact name atm unfortunately), buying new ones wouldn't be a big deal though Cases that peaked my interest atm is the SilverStone Kublai KL07 and the Fractal Design Meshify S2. I'd be very thankful for your experiences with these or other recommendations. I also apologize for another "advice seeking" post like that, there are probably 1000s of them out there already, but I built my last PC 5 years ago and didn't quite kept up with new hardware, plus my experience with PC cases is very limited, so I feel a bit lost and some opinions would be very helpful.
