  1. Like I said, I think that by default normal game audio etc. from computer (through both optical and HDMI) is uncompressed / PCM. Only difference is how many channels can be sent, optical only has stereo, HDMI 5.1 (7.1?). So if he uses HDMI -> Optical converter, number of channels would depend on the converter. I guess a cheap stupid converter would just strip the extra audio channels and only send the 2 front speakers. Are there more expensive ones that can do the audio encoding to 5.1 AC3/DTS? Btw, I'll add links to the Realtek "unlocked" drivers, if you use a Realtek audio chip. But the setup process wasn't very user friendly when I last time tried to set them up. https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/realtek-modded-audio-driver-for-windows-7-8-1-10-dch-uad-version.250915/ https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/threads/unlocked-realtek-hd-audio-drivers-for-windows-10-dolby-digital-live-dts-interactive.228612/ https://github.com/AlanFinotty1995/AAFRealtekMod
  2. By default PC only outputs non-compressed audio (unless you are watching movie etc that has pre-encoded dolby etc. audio stream) and optical TOSlink only has bandwidth for stereo with uncompressed audio. I think there are some hacked drivers etc. that you can use to get on the fly encoding of audio, but I haven't bothered to get it working on my setup, as I also have just the simple 3x 3.5mm plugs.
  3. If I could get my Vega64 back to the folding easily. But I'm probably out of PSU and PCI-E lanes. Maybe if I upgrade to 3950x and x570 motherboard, I might just pump up the PSU as well...
  4. I guess it's high time I left my old basically dead F@H team (except for me) and join you guys. I should get some nice amount of points with 3900x + Radeon VII and a 2700x + GTX980Ti.
  5. You should be able to also control with telnet commands straight to the fahclient. Also other option is to allow remote control in fahclient settings and use fahcontrol on other computer. I also have (K)Ubuntu 19.04 with the same problem, but use my Windows 10 gaming machine to control it.
