  1. Yeah you didn't feel like you had to worry about thermal issues with vrms back then. Some boards nowadays make me pretty worried (mostly the lower tier ones)
  2. Haha yeah it's pretty ridiculous how many there are. I mean if you have two CPUs youre able to pack some pretty crazy features in there
  3. Yeah I want to pick up some of those. I have a pair of 8800gtx's right now
  4. So over the weekend I went to free geek to pick up some older hardware to build a system from the 2005-2006 era, and while I was there I decided to pick this up as well. That is the Asus L1N64-SLI, which was a dual socket consumer motherboard that AMD released in order to try to rush to quad core. The actual Quad fx platform didn't do to well because of the power required and it's problems with memory latency, but needless to say they're pretty dang rare. I was extremely lucky to be able to pick up a board with two CPUs from the fx-7x lineup (don't know which ones yet) for only 30 dollars.
  5. Thanks for the quick feedback. Any suggestions on a soundcard or do you think I could use my magni and modi combo over USB 2.0. I know they have a driver for USB 2.0 but I don't know if it supports xp
  6. Hey so I was planning on building a badass gaming rig from 2004 - 2005 and I need some suggestions in hardware since I've been having a hard time nailing down what would be a good system. I already have the monitor which is gonna be a ViewSonic p95f+ (wanted to go with a crt for refresh rate, and I may run some dos games virtually so they stand to benefit from the crt), but I wanted some advice on cpu and graphics. There's a free geek near me so I'm gonna be going there to try to source some parts, but I kind of want an idea of what to look for.
