  1. Yea i could pick up something like AMD Ryzen 3 1200 for abour 60 euro off amazon but don't have the guarantee it will work.. Worst thing is i could get a different board but as far as i can see the MAX has the BIOS issues too which isn't really something id be happy with cause the same thing could be going on as with the standard Tomahawk XD, is there a board at a similar price point that doesn't have this issue ?
  2. Tested the V18 BIOS just there, unfortunately same thing, read through that post you mentioned unfortunately nothing i haven't already tried. I have done exactly what you wrote down about 4 times now with, different USB, Different Version of BIOS, while also removing the Battery for about 15 mins each time and shorting the two pins. I'm not really happy with waiting for some sort of a new BIOS update that will fix it cause i don't think its gonna be anytime soon or if it will even work, im starting to think about finding some sort of a cheap GPU that the pc will boot with or returning everything to amazon as unfortunately i bought it as a pack and i;m not sure if they will let me return just the Motherboard.
  3. So all my Gear has arrived, i decided to with the original Proposition of B450 Tomahawk with the Ryzen 5 3600, have packed it in to the NZXT H500 which looks goooood. Thank you very much everyone for your feedback. Unfortunately i have ran in to the BIOS update issues, unfortunately it isn't working too well for me, if any one has any info on these maybe some secrets i haven't covered in my post - Thank you all for the help once again. Edit: So i have spent the last 14 Hours searching for some magical way of making this work but unfortunately it isn't working.. I have decided to send it back and instead of the MSI B450 Tomahawk get the MSI AMD MPG x570 Gaming Plus D4 ATX - does any one think its a bad idea ? it seems to be able to take the CPU's and not have booting up issues straight out of the box...
  4. Hello everyone, So i posted a while ago in the New build Section regarding my new build, got a few recommendation mainly the B450 Tomahawk with the new Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, i knew there will be some issues with the whole BIOS update but i hoped it will work... i guess i was wrong since i'm here According to MSI all you do is Plug in the Motherboard and CPU power and leave everything else out. Format a USB drive (Didin't specify the size) in to FAT32, throw in the newest BIOS update from their website on it, rename to "MSI.ROM", plug it in to hte USB Flash port and press the button, it does it flashy thing for 4 minutes and that is all done.. well my luck say its not that simple so what i did is. I had everything plugged in, GPU, CPU etc. Formatted a 32Gb Toshiba USB in to FAT32, newest BIOS update, renamed to "MSI.ROM", plugged it in, pressed the Bios flash button, and boom, slow flashing for about a minute then fast flashing for about 3mins, the whole procedure tuck about 4 minutes (i had a stopwatch running) system restarted after it was done, but unfortunately still the the CPU fault LED is on and no POST in sight. Take two, removed everything bar the CPU, CPU power and Motherboard Power. Used the Same USB - Flashy stuff - same thing... Take three, removed everything but the CPU and Motherboard power, Used the same USB - Flashy Stuff - Nothing new.. Take Four, used a 2GB SD card, formatted with RUFUS in to FAT32, Non-Bootable drive Did a bit of reading, people recommended using 6GB or less drives, had nothing around so used a SD to USB adapter, people recommended RUFUS so i gave it a go. Uploaded the Newest BIOS update - and no point repeating myself, same thing as before. Take Five, used a 2GB SD card, formatted with RUFUS in to FAT32, Non-Bootable drive Uploaded the first available BIOS update that allowed the use of the new gen CPU such as the Ryzen 5 3600 to see if it makes a difference maybe it needs to be updated step by step ? Same thing - same outcome... Take Six, used the same 2GB SD Card, nothing in the board Uploaded the newest Bios again, plugged out the BIOS Battery, shorted the pins for around 10 secs Used my professional Video capturing skills and my professional equipment to record it so have a look if you have a minute. (I apologize for the sound don't expect it to be up too long so didn't bother getting rid of it.) Here is what happens once i put everything back in and start it up I ran through the forum here as well but mainly its the same thing as everywhere else, seems to work magically for everyone, not sure should i try get back to Amazon regarding a replacement ? or am i just doing something wrong ? should it be flashing like that when it doesn't succeed ? Thank you for all the fee back.
  5. So in theory i could leave the stock cooler on it for the moment and it should hold its own ? and get something else down the line. Edit: so i have finally found the B450 tomahawk on Amazon XD they have a package with the Corsair Vengeance RAM and 3600 CPU for 400... or... i can go for the 3700X for 540.... should i ? or should i not.. it would be end up being more in the long run since i would have already bought the 3600 and the 3700x cpu alone is around 300 quid... The main difference between the 3600 and the 3700x would be the amount of workload it can handle ? i mean as jstudrawa mentioned it would be better for streaming etc, wouldn't really see a huge difference in gaming would that be correct ? I do like the, Cooler Master MasterBox MB511 RGB ATX Mid Tower Case for its RGB but i think like how clean the H500 looks more, just seems to be more my style XD worst case i can throw some RGB in there with the Cooling and maybe fans.
  6. This might give people a hearth attack but im not that crazy after RGB, my PC is sitting on a shelf over my head unfortunately so i don't see it that much when sitting down, i guess i do see it from every other point in my room It would be cool to have it but its a little bit more of an expense that i don't think is that necessary for me If some one could maybe throw in some advice about Air vs Liquid cooling, i did read in about it and watched some stuff and it really seems like Air is a safer option even tho i have been using liquid cooling for the past two years and nothing ever happened but, that option of failure is still there in the back of my mind, so if Air isn't really worse in terms of performance and it is cheaper would it be a good option ?
  7. I already have the PSU do you think its important to swap it out ? Because i am not sure which one to go as i said, seems like the standard air cooling isn't much worse than liquid cooling so im not sure if its worth throwing 130 quid on it when i can get one for a less than half that does the same job
  8. So i had a little read in to it and does seem like this set up you advised might be a good call, should work for probably the next few years The 3600 should be more than enough for my needs of gaming and it should hold its own in my streaming needs too and as you said the possibility of the 3700x is there if needed. I went for the Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory seemed to be a good choice i think. So i came up with this list, SSD's, PSU, GPU i all ready have, my case needs replacement pretty bad at this stage so i think the NZXT H500 looks like a good choice and i quite like the look of it, seems to be a really good price to performance case according to a lot of people, im a little stuck regarding the cooling.. I was thinking about the NZXT Kraken X62 Liquid cooling but im not 100% sure how the case will handle it, does any one have experience with this case ? does the two 140mm fan's airflow works its way out of the case ? seems to be fairly restricted out the front ? or am i wrong ? Instead of it, i was thinking about the Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO which is the cheaper option or more expensive the Be Quiet Dark Rock Pro 4. I wanted to throw in another two Noctua NF 140mm fans to get a little bit of extra airflow if needed, would it be a good idea ? Thank you that is good to know, i just know myself to be a repetitive sometimes XD
  9. Just looking price wise since i was hung up on the I7-7700K with a ASUS Strix Z270E for €400 second hand, seemed like a fair price since the 7700k is around €300 and the Z270E is around €200 new But now compering it to the AMD's Ryzen 3600 for around €200 and MSI B450 Tomahawk would be looking at €100 seems to be a solid option. Its just surprising how the Ryzen 3600 seems to be very close or even outperforming the 7700k at a price difference like that, didn't really look at AMD CPU's but your right they seem to be booming atm. The only thing it seems to be struggling with is streaming which is why i'm looking at some sort of an upgrade. Actually would it be possible that the problems i'm having could be cased more by the RAM than the CPU ? And if i am looking at RAM options who should i be considering, my previous picks were generally either Kingston or Corsair that why i'm keen to look their way more than anywhere else, any recommendation ? or is it all the same ? I do apologize i know its shite loads of questions that you are tired of answering Edit: but now again looking at it seems my RAM upgrade options aren't really wide with the current setup i''m sitting on.
  10. I was never really a person to upgrade my PC pure out of the fact that its old served me well till now, i guess it is true i wouldn't be upgrading it till it does start being an issue which hopefully won't be in the next to years so i might have been talking nonsense there
  11. That is true i missed that part, looking at the price for some reason i didn't expect something that came out so recently to be below the 300 mark
  12. How am i looking upgrade wise if i do end up going towards this ? is it possible to move on from it lets say a year down the line ? or am i just fighting a lost battle here thinking i can keep the same Mobo for more than 2 years ?
  13. Hello everyone hope you all doing well, So i have been in to gaming for most of my life and most of my machines were build by some one else so my building experience is low i will probably find out how low soon enough So the first and current build i myself put together is this. Gigabyte z77X-UD5H Motherboard Intel I5-3570k at 4.something GHZ CPU Corsair XMS 2x8 DDR3-1333 Ram Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1070 GPU Samsung 860 Evo and Kingston HyperX Savage SSD Corsair CX500 PSU Im not much of a super Ultra quality gamer at 4k and all that jazz, i like my 1080p high FPS at 144hz and im happy with it so this has been enough for a while, i never go in to Ultra setting for FPS games, anytime i go near those settings its for MMO's or some RPG's, Just recently iv been noticing my CPU going in to the 90-100% usage on something like Apex legends which i think shouldn't be the case, another thing i wanted to do is some casual streaming every now and again and at that point, things start stuttering and it doesn't look as smooth as id wan't it to look. So my smart mind decided that its time for a small upgrade... obviously not thinking that to do an upgrade, i need to replace everything bar the SSD's, GPU and PSU And here comes my problem, i was thinking something like I7-7700K with a ASUS Strix Z270E, but that has been superseded by the I7-8600k and probably loads of other CPU's i have an option to buy the z270E and 7700K second hand for €400 as a set, the only thing i would need to find is RAM for it which shouldn't be an issue, but would i be wrong in thinking that by buying the Z270 ill be limiting myself to the 7700K ?? should i be going a little bit higher in specs to allow for more upgrades down the line ? Another thing is my beloved 1070 that i purchased last year, should i be thinking at moving up with it also ? i feel like it is doing well atm what do people think ? Here is another factor which is price, i was thinking of just letting this upgrade go for a while and looking at something else in a few months time and instead of spending like €600-700 right now to spend something like €1200 in say 10 months time ? Or maybe stuff i have is ok for the moment maybe my CPU is not the problem and im just not seeing something properly ? At the end of this i would like to be able do my 1080p 144hz gaming at ease with a possibility of not killing my PC by doing and odd stream here and there. Any comments on how wrong i am are greatly appreciated ;D
