  1. Thank you! Totally agree with you and absolutely agree. I ended up getting a pair of Edifier R1700BT speakers. Like you, I'm not (yet?) a full-on audiophile so I don't think I'll be able to appreciate the sound quality of more expensive speakers since I don't know what to look out for. These have been working perfectly for me so far. Replying to the other posts: I'm not seeking high end, lossless audio with the best equipment out there. I'm not specifically looking for convenience either (like you would with flacs or MP3s), and trust me, I definitely don't have a lot of room to work with. My apartment is very small and having a turntable with vinyls and speakers means I'm sacrificing a lot of room for the sake of this newfound hobby. It's far from being a cheap one mind you, but it's also far from being a huge money sink, in my case at least. Owning the physical copy of music I listen to, being able to appreciate the album art, and the entire process of using a turntable is, in my opinion, much more satisfying and enjoyable than running Spotify or opening a file. Which I still do of course, but using both digital and analog mediums means I'll be getting the best of both worlds.
  2. I recently bought an AT-LP120XUSB turntable and already owned a nice pair of DT770 Pro 80Ohm. Since the Topping DX1 I bought didn't work, I decided to go for an iFi Zen Can. Will the sound quality be any good with this setup? Do I need a 3.5 to 4.4 adapter to plug my headphones into the amp? Or is the included 6.3 adapter enough? I am a complete newbie so any help is much appreciated.
  3. Makes sense, I had some doubts about that but trial and error am I right? Thanks so much. And thank you all for taking the time to help me out. I'll order a new amp!
  4. Tried plugging the turntable into my PC and recording with Audacity, and it works flawlessly. Is it fair to say that the issue here is 100% the amp? It also takes RCA no?
  5. I do get sound if I listen closely when the needle is placed, which was a relief, honestly. I assume the issue is the amp? Or am I doing something else wrong?
  6. Yes, the record is playing and the needle is making contact. I don't think I have any other equipment to test it out though. Well it's not really grounding, just placed the cable on top of the aluminium chassis of the amp so it made contact. To be fair, I have no clue what I'm doing but I want to learn. I'll try right now with the USB. Tried both with line and phono, the protective cap is removed and I triple checked all the cables just to make sure. Thank you both for your help. Edit: there is indeed some music when I place the needle and listen closely.
  7. So I got an AT-LP120XUSB today, with a Topping DX1 amp. Plugged everything in fine, the amp didn't have a ground screw so I tried grounding it with the chassis. Everything else seems to be working, but no music is coming out when I plug my DT 770 Pros on the amp. I'm new to this, any tips or suggestions? Thank you.
  8. In that case I'd rather spend a bit more and go for a decent pair of speakers. Preferably with jack out, any ideas? Yes, I would rather have physical books than a massive ebook collection. Thank you for your concern but I am aware of the costs, most hobbies aren't free after all and I've had this idea in my mind for a few years now.
  9. That was really helpful, thank you. Would you recommend that turntable to a complete beginner? Is there a brand you’d recommend for a headphone amp? My budget would be around 50€, I don’t know if it’s doable.
  10. I am finally starting my vinyl collection, and of course, I need a record player. I really like the Audio Technica LP120XUSB. What should I do to be able to use it with my DT770 Pros? As far as I know it doesn’t have an aux port. I assume I need an amp? If so, do you have any recommendations for an affordable, noob friendly one? Thank you!
  11. Good advice, thank you. I wanted to order a powerline adapter right now but I think I should probably check if the WiFi signal is any good or if there even is a coax plug at my new place. I won't have any internet for a day or two but at least I won't buy something I'll end up not needing.
  12. I am aware but unfortunately it's not possible at the moment... I'll probably just try a bunch of options and see which one is faster, but I'll keep that in mind, thank you.
  13. I could get access to the router and add mesh, as long as it doesn't change anything for my housemates, aka they don't have to rethink their own networking. I'll watch it right now, thank you!
  14. Interesting, thank you. I was looking at MoCA, they're not easy to come by. Can't find any in stock but I'll keep looking. Are there other alternatives that are as good as MoCA?
  15. I don't think that'll be possible unfortunately. Can I maybe use something like this? Edit: nevermind it replaces the router, I can't just add one like that.
  16. I'm moving into a house with gigabit internet, but I won't be able to use an ethernet cable for my desktop. The router is on the 2nd floor and I'll be living on the 1st floor. Do you recommend buying a PCI-E WiFi 6 adapter or going for powerline networking? Are there other alternatives? Thank you.
  17. I can't find any Silverstone stuff here, and Seasonic doesn't have any 1000W in stock
  18. Found the RM1000x for a decent price, plus it'll give me some headroom if I want to overclock or upgrade later on. It's probably overkill right now but at least I'm sure I'll be good for a while. A question is bugging me, is there a point in getting one of those "PCIe 5.0 ready" PSUs or is it just marketing? I'd rather not make a mistake now so I don't have to buy a new one when I eventually get a new GPU in a few years.
  19. That's completely understandable. I checked some Seasonic PSUs, and unfortunately they're either not available or more expensive with non-Prime delivery. I'll keep that in mind for my future builds though. I'll go for this one then, I assume it's the 2021 version?
  20. Understood, thank you. So I'm left with the RM1000e and the RM1000x, is there one that you'd recommend more than the other?
  21. Hi, I'm currently on a 700W PSU and I'd like to finally upgrade it. I can't find the tier list anymore (am I blind?), so are any of these options any good? - Corsair RM1000e - Corsair RM1000x - MSI MPG A1000G - be quiet! Straight Power 11 1000W Any PSU I should get instead of another? I'm looking at the options with next day delivery, as I'm having some crashes and I'd like to upgrade it asap. Thank you!
