  1. From what I have found a good consumer mesh setup should be enough indeed, any recommendations? The diagram is mostly for my own overview. For your other questions see the answers below. 1. I get 100 down and 30 up from my ISP 2. Gigabit LAN should be good enough. 3. If I understand the difference between WiFi5 and 6 correctly it is mostly in the amount of devices that can be connected right? Then I think wifi5 should be good enough wit about 15 WIFI devices right?
  2. Hey everyone, We at home want to upgrade our home network setup, our current setup is to unreliable and we need more cable connections for new devices. The diagram below shows my plan. The house consists of 4 floors (1st: purple, 2nd: green, 3rd: blue, 4th: red) The desktops on the second floor are the only devices witch need quick access to the NAS but mostly never at the same time. At this moment the 3th and 4th floor use power line ethernet adaptors witch work terrible when the load gets high. A cable to the 4th floor can only be routed trough the first switch on the second floor, that's why the layout looks like this: The devices in yellow need to be bought new and I have a budget of around 350 euro's. I am not much in to network stuff but I want the network to be okay on performance but the most important thing is stability and ease of use. Stuff like a good mesh function and no problems with overheating is important to me. Does anyone have a good recommendation for the access points and switches? Or recommended changes on the layout? Thanks for the help already!
  3. Nope... that does not seem to work. I upped it to +60mV and it still dropped
  4. I am finally overclocking my gigabyte GTX980 G1Gaming but I have a problem... I found that my gtx 980 is stable at +250 on the memory and +200 on the core at +30mV After it crashed at +220 on the core I am getting the problem that it is stable most of the time but after a minute or so the voltage goes back to stock and the core clock drops by about 20MHz and it continues running. ^ You can see it drop here in MSI Afterburner Can someone help me with this problem? Thx for the help
  5. Great suggestion! This Gigabyte board isn't available in Holland so I will use this ASRock board. http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81M-ITX/ It only has 2 SATA 3 connections but that should be okay as were looking for a NAS for mass storage.
  6. Thx for the help! I switched out the SSD with a 120gb one because he indeed doesn't need the 240gb. I did keep the 8gb of RAM as he is a chrome user. https://giphy.com/gifs/google-experience-chrome-ojJsHKUFHRaAU For the GPU I found someone nearby who is selling a MSI GT740 2gb which will work fine as he (indeed) does not game. I changed out the 400W PSU for the 300W version just to keep some headroom for upgrading to a i5. http://pcpartpicker.com/list/pgBh7h As I said, Thanks for the help!
  7. Hey, My dad really badly needs a new PC. Right now he is using a dying HP all-in-one witch is slow as sh*t. As my dad used to work as an editor for the local tv station he has a lot of old video stuff. (Brandon would love to see it I think) Well I combined the two and decided to build a ITX pc in a old panasonic BT-h1450y witch isn't working correctly anymore. I am planing to get the screen out of there and instal a cheap secondhand 15 LCD panel in it to make the big case a bit more use full by using it as a secondary screen (more just for the looks) These are the parts I am planing to buy/use: - Pentium G3258 (I have one lying around so why not use it) - MSI H81I ITX motherboard - 1x8GB Kingston valueRAM 1600MHz (could always be upgraded to 16GB if needed) - Kingston SSDNow UV400 240GB SSD (it isn't the fastest but it is cheap and better than a dying HDD) - 2.5inch 640GB WD Blue (had it laying around so yeah why not) - Be Quiet! SFX Power 2 400W PSU As he uses a lot of Excel for his new job he would like a ultrawide monitor. The LG 25UM58-P 2560x1080 ultrawide monitor After a bit of digging I found out that the I-GPU on the pentium does not support this resolution. So he would also need a HDMI 2.0 capable GPU. For this I am planing to get the Sapphire RX 460 2GB. If there is any other way that would be a lot nicer because it is €120 more and he isnt gona use the power of the GPU anyway So to summarize: What do you guys thing about the parts? Any suggestions? Do I really need the RX460 or is there a other (cheaper) way? Thx for the help already For the people who are interested: I am planning to combine the new PC with a new custom desk. The desk will be made out of old wood and have a size of about 80cm/180cm. The two cabinets will be about 70cm high and support a 19 inch rack so all the tape recorders can be stored and used in there. I hope to do a video or something like that. Maybe a build log on the forum?
  8. I am having the same problem with my GTX980. The core clock does not go down when idle so the tempeture stais high. I think it has something to do with the new 361.75 drivers.
  9. After I updated my nvidia driver to 361.75 my gigabyte GTX980 Gaming is locked at 1228MHz and with that comes that the temperature is at around 50c all the time. When I start to game it does boost up to 1367MHz and the temperature rises but when it is idle it does not go down to about 300MHz like it did before the driver update. Does anyone else have this problem or know how to solve it?
  10. That last think is certainly true But isn't it bad for the lifespan of my CPU to have that high voltage all the time?
  11. I have a very stable overclock at 4.4Ghz with 1.134v but the problem is that the CPU and voltage don't go down when i am not using my PC. The tempeture also scales with the load that I put on my pc. In Linus his overclocking video he has these settings in adaptive mode But I don't get the option of Auto mode with "additional Turbo Mode CPU Core Voltage" 151230171524.BMP May this be the problem I am having? Thx
  12. PCPP does not support the stores here in holland so I used a site called tweaks.net (dutch site) to compare the prices here in holland. but to make it easer to edit for the people on the forum I also made it in PCPP
  13. My friend asked me to help choose and built his new gaming PC. His budget is max €1100 including a new monitor and OS. I put this together and with the prices here in holland it the price is just €1037,79. 14. Thx for the help! I did not know you could override the server but it works a lot better now. I have switched from the Netherlands to Belgium and it did the job!
