  1. Looks pretty nice actually, I wasn't really considering Razer at all but might get this one. I was looking at this one as well but not really a fan of the design of the keyboard as a whole, just looking for something rectangular without any weird edges or curves. Possibly in the future, but at the moment I kinda just want something that I can plug in and it'll just work rather than building my own.
  2. Hello, I'm looking to buy a keyboard for typing/gaming, I've always used random office ones so I don't really know whats good at the moment. The two that I've been looking at are the Steelseriex Apex Pro and Logitech G815, but from my research at the moment, apparently Logitech keyboards in general are bad, and I was close to buying the Steelseries Apex Pro but apparently it has a metallic sound when clicking on keys which I don't really want tbh. Does anyone have any suggestions on potential keyboards? I'm looking for something with a numpad & RGB, I had a look at switches and apparently the brown ones are the best for typing/gaming so them as well if a keyboard like that exists (or would I have to buy them separately?). I've got access to student discount for a bunch of places so for the two keyboards mentioned above, I could get the Apex Pro for 170 and the G815 for 130. I've also been recommended Ducky, but the only ones that I liked from them are the One 2 RGB and the Year of the Rooster/Monkey editions. Thanks!
  3. My previous i3-6100 didn't really go above 65, although I didn't really do anything extensive on it since the rest of my components weren't very good so it was usually in low load most of the time.
  4. Yeah a lot of people are telling me that my temps are fine and they probably are but I have OCD over low temperatures. I've moved over from Intel and that barely ever went above 60-65, so it's kinda hard to get used to it. Sorry for posting in the wrong place, didn't even notice there was an air cooling subforum. Thanks for the help.
  5. Wow, that AMD Wraith Max cooler looks amazing! Which one would you recommend more between the H7 and the Arctic Freezer one? I've found the Arctic Freezer one for a bit cheaper (29.95) here , i'm assuming it's the same one but a different colour scheme. I had a look at reviews for both of them, as well as the Gammaxx 400 that hello_there_123 suggested and they all seem to have good reviews.
  6. Hey. I recently put together a build with a Ryzen 5 2600, and I've noticed that my temps are a bit high. I've managed to lower them a bit by setting the Windows Balanced power plan in the settings, but they're still kinda high (I get between 50-55c while having multiple Chrome tabs open, Discord, and sometimes it jumps up higher for a few seconds), and was just playing a game and my CPU temp varied between 70-74c. I'm currently using the stock cooler (Wraith Stealth) but considering buying an aftermarket one. Which one would be the best for up to £30 ? I was considering the Hyper 212 Evo, had a look at some comments about it and people said that it's very similiar to the stock cooler, while other comments said that it's much better, so i'm not sure what to think. The others in this price range that I considered were the Cryorig M9a (I've got the M9i but I don't think it works with AMD) , Arctic Freezer 33 esports ONE, and the CRYORIG H7 (saw a large amount of praise for this one, it's £5 over my budget but willing to buy it if it's actually good)
  7. Is the coil whine at all dangerous, or is it just a thing that's there? Do you think getting an aftermarket cooler would decrease my temps or is there no point? I've heard that the AMD stock cooler is apparently really good so i'm not sure if there's any point getting an aftermarket one. I've got OCD about temperatures so I want them as low as possible Thanks for the reply
  8. Hello. I upgraded my PC from Intel to Ryzen. The operating system that I've got is Windows 10 64 bit. My complete build is here: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor £112.97 @ Laptops Direct Motherboard MSI - B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard £89.84 @ AWD-IT Memory G.Skill - Trident Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory £115.19 @ Amazon UK Storage Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive £36.07 @ Amazon UK Video Card MSI - GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card £209.97 @ Box Limited Case Deepcool - TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case £37.74 @ Amazon UK Power Supply Corsair - TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply £64.96 @ Amazon UK Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total £666.74 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-07-16 20:33 BST+0100 I've got 2 "issues" with it: 1. I've noticed that whenever I'm gaming, I hear a weird buzzing noise. I originally thought that this was one of my fans but then I dug deeper and I think it is the coil whine on the GPU, as it only happens when the GPU is getting power from the PSU, and the more power I give to it (i.e. more FPS in the game) the louder the coil whine is. I've made a video of what I hear, first 10 seconds are with a game turned on (Witcher 3 at 60 FPS) , last 10 seconds are with just the desktop : Is there anything that I can do about this? All of my parts are brand new so buying a new part isn't really an option. I've also read that after a while the noise may decrease by itself. And is this noise in any way harmful to any of my components? 2. I've got a Ryzen 5 2600 CPU with the stock cooler (Wraith Spire), and on low load (currently I've got Chrome open with 7 tabs & Discord) i'm hovering between 51-52 degrees Celsius. When gaming, I've tested it on Witcher 3 and LoL. On Witcher 3, I get around 60-62 on Ultra settings. In Minecraft, it's between 65-70 (this is heavily modded Minecraft). Are these temps okay or should I try to decrease them? I've read that people with the same CPU generally have lower temps so I feel like they may be a bit too high. I've already checked many times if the cooler is on right and it is, as well as replaced the thermal paste. I've also done some benchmarks on UserBenchmark, CPUMark Performance Test and Unigine Valley Benchmark (although I think this one is mainly GPU based). The highest the temperature got to was 74 degrees at one point, but it stayed at a max of 71 at most times. I got a score of 13671 on CPUMark and it's performing better than average according to UserBenchmark here , so I think my performance is fine. Any ideas? Thanks.
  9. I'm in a similiar position, I've got a GTX 950 & i3-6100 currently which I think is even worse than the GTX 760, so any of those three would probably give me a decent boost. I'd probably go for the RX 580 straight away if I didn't see the temperatures on that video, I have OCD over low temperatures and seeing Forza Horizon 4 on ultra at 55 degrees kinda made it for me, although the 580 is at 63 so it's not that much of a difference I suppose.
  10. Maybe the thing I watched wasn't very good then. Not sure if i'm allowed to post the link to the video but this is the comparison that I had a look at:
  11. In what way is the 580 faster? Not saying you're wrong, I just had a look at some benchmarks and in pretty much all of them the 1660 was faster.
  12. Hello, i'd like to upgrade my PC. I'll be upgrading everything apart from my HDD, SSD and case. I will use the build for gaming and possibly streaming, for games like Forza, ARK, Witcher, GTA 5 at better settings, modern modded Minecraft, R6 Siege at better settings. I'll be buying the parts in the UK and my budget is like 500-550 pounds. The two builds that I've put together are these two: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor £121.94 @ Aria PC Motherboard ASRock - B450 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard £77.99 @ CCL Computers Memory G.Skill - Trident Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory £73.48 @ Ebuyer Storage Kingston - A400 120 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Purchased For £0.00 Storage Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Purchased For £0.00 Video Card MSI - GeForce GTX 1660 6 GB VENTUS XS OC Video Card £205.97 @ Amazon UK Case Deepcool - TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case Purchased For £0.00 Power Supply Corsair - TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply £64.96 @ Amazon UK Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total £544.34 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-07-09 19:34 BST+0100 PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor £121.94 @ Aria PC Motherboard ASRock - B450 Pro4 ATX AM4 Motherboard £77.99 @ CCL Computers Memory G.Skill - Trident Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 Memory £73.48 @ Ebuyer Storage Kingston - A400 120 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive Purchased For £0.00 Storage Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Purchased For £0.00 Video Card Sapphire - Radeon RX 580 8 GB NITRO+ Video Card £185.42 @ Box Limited Case Deepcool - TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case Purchased For £0.00 Power Supply Corsair - TXM Gold 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply £64.96 @ Amazon UK Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total £523.79 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-07-09 19:34 BST+0100 They're exactly the same, but the only difference is the GPU. I was originally going for the RX 580, but then someone recommended to me that I get the 1660. I looked at some benchmarks and it seems like it has better performance, along with being cooler and running quieter, which is what I want. For the rest of the items, i'm fairly set on them and don't think I'll be changing them, just not sure on the GPU. Anyone got any recommendations? Thanks.
  13. So is that GPU and RAM fine then? And yeah if you all say so I may put in an extra and get an SSD then. I'll wait until the new Ryzen comes out just to get an actual price on it though.
  14. Hello. I'd like to upgrade my PC as i'd like to play some more demanding games (ARK, Witcher), as well as have a more comfortable experience in the games that I currently play (League of Legends, I get FPS drops when I have stuff like YouTube turned on in the background, Minecraft as I struggle to run any of the new modded packs) and also possibly stream, althought that's not really a priority. My current build is this: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU Intel - Core i3-6100 3.7 GHz Dual-Core Processor Purchased For £0.00 CPU Cooler CRYORIG - M9i 48.4 CFM CPU Cooler Purchased For £0.00 Motherboard MSI - H110M Pro-VD Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard Purchased For £0.00 Memory Kingston - HyperX Fury Black 8 GB (2 x 4 GB) DDR4-2133 Memory Purchased For £0.00 Storage Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive Purchased For £0.00 Video Card Asus - GeForce GTX 950 2 GB Video Card Purchased For £0.00 Case Deepcool - TESSERACT BF ATX Mid Tower Case Purchased For £0.00 Power Supply EVGA - 430 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply Purchased For £0.00 Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total £0.00 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-07-04 15:29 BST+0100 I will be re-using the case & HDD from this and sell what can be sold. I'll get an SSD, but currently i'm prioritizing everything else over it. I've done some research and put together this, not sure whether it is any good. It goes a bit above my budget, but there are probably things that can be changed within it so it can decrease I guess. I was considering the new Ryzen, however, I feel like it'd be a bit out of my budget (the Ryzen 5 3600 will cost like 180-200 pounds apparently). I'm not entirely sure on the memory as I read that the Corsair Vengeance LPX doesn't work well with Ryzen, and the reviews that I've read for that specific GPU are that it's a bit hit or miss.
