  1. After some more checking around, I think I was wrong with the way I was intending to use Jellyfin, or at least hoping to. It seems that when people are using Jellyfin on Kodi, its to integrate media from a Jellyfin host to their Kodi device. I guess I was thinking it worked the other way around, like Jellyfin would use the media I have from Kodi on my pi to stream to other devices. It looks like if I really wanted to stream to an outside device, I'd just be setting up another device to be a media server, I guess its solved. Thanks for reading!
  2. Hi All, just a little backround on my setup and what I'm trying to do. For my TV, I have a raspberry pi 3b+, it has LibreElec installed on it, with my own media. I've been ripping my own dvds and blu rays for quite some time, so have a bit of a collection. I used to use just a simple file browser to navigate, but about 6 months ago I looked into Kodi/LibreElec because I thought it'd be nice to have all the extra info/pictures and interface that come along with the media scraper, so I saw how to rename my movies and shows (Bulk Rename Utility was so helpful), and its looking pretty sweet. In general, I dont like streaming, I think it stems from having very poor internet in the past, so I just have gotten very used to playing the video file directly from the pi. Since I started using Kodi, I got the android app, Kore, where you can use as a remote, but also stream from the pi while on wifi. So thats actually pretty cool, sometimes I just might watch a show or something on my phone since its a little more convenient, but that did sort of get me thinking more about streaming a show in other places, not on my home network. After a bit of searching around, I feel like Jellyfin would be helpful, but wasnt totally sure how it works as a kodi addon. Would it just use the media already present in Kodi? Say while I'm out and about, and have some time to kill and wanted to watch a show on my phone, would Jellyfin need to be already running on the pi to stream to me? Or is it like always sort of running in the background? I saw that there are two Jellyfin that you can install, one is Jellyfin for Kodi, and the other is Jellycon. https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/clients/kodi/ I'm sorry if its a dumb question, but which of these would be the right one to install for me? Is Jellyfin what I'm looking for? Or would Kodi have the functionality to stream outside of your home network already? And of course in just finishing this post, I realize that there is a Jellyfin forum. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this! But thanks you for any help!
  3. Hello, just a small update for any who might be interested. Basically my Acrobat and Elements installation don't recognize their serials anymore, and are just set on trials periods. I tried installing Acrobat on my wifes laptop, hoping it was just isolated to my pc, but it was the same issue. I did turn my laptop on today (3 days later), and both programs are also on a trial period, though the 30 days started today, and isnt in sync with my desktop. After alot of googling, I did see someone else who commented that installing a newer trial version of Elements bricked their older version. Anywho, I'm done with adobe, I wanted to crack the programs, but I shouldn't have to do that for something I purchased. I got GIMP for some photo editing, and PDF XChange for an pdf editor. PDF XChange is actually great, though the differences between versions offered took some time to see clearly. I got PDF XChange Editor Plus, one time payment of $72. You can install on two devices, and can remotely de-register if needed. Anyways, just wanted to update, I'm still a bit annoyed, but I suppose having a considerably more up to date pdf editor is a plus.
  4. Another little update, I just opened my Photoshop Elements 6, which I purchased back in 2007 and installed on every pc, is asking for the serial. I enter it and it says it cant reach servers. I understand that the authentication servers are down, but I've never had an issue with PE 6. I know its old, but it works. I cant help but think its all related somehow.
  5. We'll it looks like I'm back on the prowl for a one time purchase pdf editor. I just cant do anymore subscriptions. I know it sounds crazy, but I've actually considered doing the $400 one time purchase for the current Adobe Acrobat DC, but even then, I really dont trust that Adobe wont screw me over in the future.
  6. Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised about this. I'm just super annoyed that this happened after spending so long looking for a one time purchase of a pdf editor, I thought I had the solution.
  7. Hello All, I just wanted to ask about an issue I just starting having with Acrobat X Pro. Like the title says, I purchased it on ebay a little over 2 years ago, it wasnt a physical product, but just a download for Acrobat and I think the serial was sent in an email. It's been working fine, I use it quite regularly, but today I got a window that says my serial is invalid. Would anyone have insight into the possibilities as to why this would be? Could the same seller have been selling the same serial to multiple users, or anything like that? Any probable solutions?
  8. I didn't consider the MX anywhere 3s because of the price, but I started looking more. I found an mx anywhere 2s on eBay within my range, I think that's going to fit the need just fine, thanks!
  9. Hello all, like the topic says, I'm just looking for a mouse to keep in a bag for light use. Ideally I'd like to stay in the $30-40 range usd. In general, I guess logitech is my go to. I had a Ms master 3 that became my wife's, and I currently have an mx master 3s on my desktop. I'd like to avoid constantly taking one of these with me when I need to go mobile with my laptop. I'm looking for something that I can just recharge, I don't like to fiddle with batteries. I did eye the Logitech m650l, it seemed to tick the boxes, and I like that it has a silent click. But in reviews I did see that it needs two AA batteries, though they seem to have a considerable life in the mouse. I found the mouse by filtering on Amazon by mice that are rechargeable, but that one really isn't. I just wanted to see if there were any recommendations on a wireless rechargeable mouse in my budget, hopefully avoiding those random 'brand' names that have become so common on Amazon. Thanks all!
  10. Thank you for your comments! I had a feeling that was the case. I did some searching around and found situations where people just weren't able to use the program anymore after losing access to machines it was registered on. There was also mentions of Adobe giving like a 1 time courtesy reset to registrations in some cases. I think I'm probably just going to stick with what I have. Just curious, since your running Elements 7 now, did you actually lose access to your copy of 14?
  11. Hello All, like the title says I have Photoshop Elements 6 and wanted to upgrade. I know this is a dinosaur of a product, so please be nice. This is just for some hobby stuff, nothing I do for work. I got Elements back in 2006 just to fill the need at the time, and never saw the need to buy again. I was recently looking at the latest version of Elements and thought that it finally may be time for an upgrade. As far as I understand, Elements really is the only subscription free product from Adobe. I just had some questions about the Adobe purchases though. It does say that you can install in 2 computers, and it looks like its linked to your Adobe ID. What happens if one PC fails and you cant deregister? Is there any sort of fail safe to put the product on PCs after? Any sort of remote de-registeration? My other question was about internet connection. It should be a problem, but generally I dislike programs that are dependent on an internet connection. I’d be able to use it offline right? Maybe just lack in the AI features or whatnot? Is there a time frame that I would need to go back online to make sure I can keep using the product? Sorry if these are dumb questions, but a few years ago I got burnt out on Adobe. I needed a copy of Acrobat, but realized that your options are a subscription, or you can buy a copy, but for $400. After looking at various options, I just went on ebay and got a copy of 2010’s Acrobat X Pro, best purchase ever. It does what I need it to, can install wherever I want, not connected online, wish I did it sooner. Sometimes I wish I had newer features, but I don't think I’m going to be getting a newer version of Acrobat anytime soon. Thats a little backround about what makes me slightly hesitant about purchasing a current Adobe product, and any insight is appreciated, thank you!
  12. Hello All, My wife uses her laptop for just some basic office stuff, but tonight she showed me that shes getting a notification from firefox, that says virus detected, and it says its via souropsa.xyz. I really havent had much issue with viruses, windows defender didnt detect anything, and a full scan on Avira didnt yield anything either. The notifications only come up when you open Mozilla, should I uninstall the browser? Just trying to troubleshoot this, any help is appreciated. Thank you!
  13. Thats good to know. As much as I'd love to upgrade the battery, it seems like theres some conflicting opinions about if it will work or not.
  14. Just a little update, I did get the Anker 737, which seems to be a beast, and just to try, I got the cable I linked to above, but it didnt work. I'm not too shocked, but obviously I was hoping for a better outcome. I suppose when it becomes a real issue I'll explore the idea again, I was just trying to think ahead.
  15. Wow that's super spot on. I gpu is an MSI. Originally my PC came with a 450 watt PSU, it was the first thing I upgraded, and like a dope I just got rid of the old one, figured I'd have no use for it again. Thank you for the recommendations!
  16. Budget (including currency): $400 Country: US Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Media Center, lighter games like emulations, heavier games would be Forza 5. Other details I had in mind possibly building a smaller pc for the living room that could be a media center and a pc to play on. I dont want to put too much into it, but I have some spare parts that were swapped out of my current build. Heres the parts I have on hand: Ryzen 5 1400 w. heatsink 16gb Ram RX 580 4gb SSD The thing I really dont know about is the case. I saw the Fractal Design Node 202, thats kind of what I'd like to go for, I just like how it would blend in on a shelf, but I'm open to other cases. I guess I would be getting a micro or mini atx motherboard for the cpu? Anything else I should be considering? Or any other recommendations on a case?
  17. Hello All, I just wanted to get some opinions or ideas for having a battery bank with me for my laptop. I have a Legion 5 laptop, it works great, but battery could be better. I generally use my desktop for everything, but every few weeks I need a laptop for a meeting I'm in, which sometimes can run long. I put it into the low fan mode, dim the display, and just have word processor open along with a few light applications, I really have yet to have a serious issue with power, I can always make it last. Once the meeting is over I'll go to another location an plug into a wall, because where I'm at during the meeting I don't really have convenient access to an outlet. I've been thinking about having a power bank, but in looking more into it, I've seen that 2020 model I have cant charge through USB C, but the models made starting in 2021 can. But I saw a few products that I was wondering if it would work in my case. I saw this: 6.5ft 100W PD USB Type C Male Input to Slim tip Would this work to provide power to a Legion 5 laptop from a powerbank? I'm not expecting miracles, I'm not gaming, but I'm looking for some power to sustain the laptop in case I'm in a situation where power really is running low. If it matters, the Anker 737 Power Bank is the power bank I was considering to charge the laptop (if thats possible) and for other things while traveling. I saw this as well: Portable Laptop Charger, 31200 mAh High Capacity USB C Power Bank with 100W AC Outlet I've never seen something like this, it actually does have an outlet. I know its bulky, but I wanted to see if anyone had used something like this before. What makes me hesitant is that when it comes to power, I dont like getting these things from Amazon that sound like they have the craziest brand names. The other option was just getting a larger battery. The laptop came with a 60wh battery, but it looks like I can get an 80wh for the model, so another possibility is to just replace that. I'm not pretending to completely understand the power requirements of a laptop and these chargers, but these are just some options that I came up with, but dont know if they are realistic, but looking for some advice from someone more familiar with laptops and power delivery. Thank you all!
  18. Actually I have one question about hotspot temps. On HWinfo64, my rx 580 did not have hotspot temps, but the 6700 does. When running SW Squadrons, it reached a max temp of 70c and a hotspot temp of 87c. Is this normal? Again, I'm just asking because by previous card did not report a hotspot temp. The two pictures below are screenshots from HWinfo, the first is the 580, the second the 6700.
  19. I just wanted to say thank you to all three of you for the recommendation. The card came in today, and beforehand I was running some games and taking note of temps and frame rates. There is a considerable increase in fps, decrease in temperature, and the card is quiet. My RX 580 would be soooo loud, I'm still in a little disbelief that the 6700 is so quiet running at 1440p 144fps. Thanks again guys!
  20. Thank you for your input! Thank you as well! The pcie lanes were not something I had taken into to much consideration. Just one more probably dumb question. My RX 580 uses an 8 pin power cable. Theres this split end that isnt connected on the gpu. It looks like the RX 6700 uses all 16 pins, so I would be plugging all those cables in? Sorry again if it sounds dumb, I just dont want to make any stupid mistakes when it comes the power that components need. This gpu is a bit more powerful then I thought I was going to settle on.
  21. Hello all, I've long posted about upgrading my gpu, its just hasnt happened yet, but more recently I've seen prices drop. Heres mu current specs: Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B350m 16GB Ram MSI RX 580 4GB EVGA G2 650w 1440p, 144hz Monitor For some time I've had my mind set on a 8gb XFX Merc 308 Rx 6650 xt. I wanted the Merc 308 because I had read that the fan/cooling is supposed to be better then the Swft models, I do value cool temps and quiet fans. Recently I saw the price of the RX 6650 xt drop to $280 usd. Out of curiosity, I searched for a RX 6700, and saw a 10gb XFX Speedster swft309 also for $280. I just wanted an informed opinion about which to choose. Is it better to get the 6650xt for the better cooling, or is it more of a no brainer to get the 6700 for the performance? I do have a 1440p 144hx monitor, but I wouldnt say that I play too many AAA games, probably like Forza 4 and 5, some Planet Coaster/Zoo, and in general mostly emulation. Also, it looks like a 650w PSU is the minimum, should that concern me? Just wanted some realistic opinions, thank you all!
  22. Hey All, I just had a question that I'm probably overthinking a little. I wanted to know what I should consider when doing a clean install of Windows 10. The desktop I have is a prebuilt from 2018, but I've changed out basically all the parts except for the motherboard and gpu, and have never done a clean install with this system, or any recent system. Last time was probably in the Windows XP days, and a few laptops that I did the Windows Reset thing. Aside from getting programs I use back, I assume I need to get motherboard drivers, amd chipset drivers, and gpu drivers. Anything else I'm not considering? I'm not concerned about documents, those are backed up to multiple internal and external drives on a regular basis and kept pretty current. Otherwise I guess I just log in with my Microsoft account, I have taken note of my Win 10 key, but not sure if thats really necessary or not. Its still not clear to me how the Microsoft account/Windows key works on OEM systems, I see too much conflicting information. I know theres some that say they do a clean install every year or so. Do they generally just wipe the drive and start clean, or do they just install Windows to a partition on the drive? I'm not sure of that still a practice or if that was just what I remember back in the day. Anything else I should take into consideration? Heres my specs if it matters: Ryzen 5 3600 MSI B350m 16 GB Ram MSI RX 580 4GB 500GB SSD 2 TB HDD 4 TB HDD EVGA 650w G2
  23. Thank you, good advice! I haven't purchased it yet, but I was just something I'd like to do, thats a good idea about using the new batteries packaging material. Thank you both!
