  1. Things seem better now. I also had a bad crash and I recieved the wdiwifi.sys blue screen of death. When I saw this bluescreen of death it reminded me I used to get this error frequently. After I got that error today, I looked up some solutions for it. I followed these steps. Step 1: Reinstall Wi-Fi driver Press Windows + X key and selectDevice Manager from the context menu. Spot and expand the “Network adapters”. Right click on the driver from the list and select “Uninstall devices” Check the box beside “Delete the driver software for this device” Restart the PC and install the Wi-Fi driver from the Asus website. Step 2: Update hardware drivers. We would suggest you to download and install the Firmware, Chipset and the BIOS driver from Asus website. Sidenote, the steps reference an ASUS website. If you have the same issue I am having, refer to your device manufacturer to get the proper drivers.
  2. I have tried the wifi drivers on the Windows 11 build. Wouldn't the USB nic work since it uses different drivers? I will get the new drivers on this build(I forgot to) and see how it goes. Thank you
  3. Hello everyone, This issue I am having is driving me insane. My Wi-Fi has been going out. It has been doing this for about a week. I believe it started when I updated to Windows 11. The troubleshooting things I have done. 1. When Wi-Fi goes out on my laptop, my phone wifi still works. Doesn't seem to be a modem issue. 2. I have a USB NIC card too as a backup. I plugged it in, thinking that the NIC on the motherboard was going bad, and nope, same issue with the USB nic card. 3. If it's not the NICs, or the modem, I think it's the OS. I reformated my computer to Windows 11. The same issue, WI-Fi still goes out. 4. I thought, It must be Windows 11. I installed Windows 10 OS build 19045.2965. I still have the same problem. Wi-Fi still goes out. What is interesting is that when I restart my computer everything works fine for about 10mins. I think maybe the Windows 10 OS build is high, closer to windows 11 and something is going on there, I am thinking of reformatting again but with a lower build. But I am not sure if that will fix anything. I already reinstalled everything on this build.
  4. I recently bought the ASUS TUF Gaming FX505DT. It comes with 8GB of RAM. There appears to be only one memory module but two slots. I am thinking of buying one more memory module that is 16GB which would give me a total of 24GB. The laptop supposedly takes DDR4 PC4-19200 2400MHz Non-ECC SODIMM. Is there any problem with what I am trying to do? If the memory is the same speed, and the same type but different sizes(in terms of GB) is there a problem? I am planning on buying this one. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Single-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B019FRBHZ0/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=DDR4+PC4-19200+2400MHz+Non-ECC+SODIMM&qid=1598977952&sr=8-4
  5. In regards to a cache drive... I see some people use a 1TB SSD. Isn't that overkill? I believe something like a 128GB SSD would work just fine.
  6. Okay thanks. I am new to the forums too. I noticed you have to have the site open in a browser to get alerts. You don't get e-mail notifications. I would suspect you could probably set that up in the settings some place.
  7. Okay, I think I understand now. If I install apps, and docker containers, all the apps/programs, and their settings would be installed on the drives in unraid. I vaguely remember people installing dockers and things on the drives. I never ran a raid before. Thus, I don't have any issues with a controller.
  8. Yeah, I have seen a few installation videos. I read the booting section of the wiki... You said that the USB is just for booting the OS. Where is the OS installed? If it's on a drive... and I reinstall unraid... it would wipe it out. I guess this is what I am trying to wrap my head around.
  9. I seen a lot of people put unraid on a USB stick. I thought you just used it for installation. I didn't know it ran off USB. That would be good. As you said, I can just back it up. Thanks.
  10. I wanted to build an unraid server. I was planning on running windows on VM on top of unraid. I started to think, "If I have to reinstall unraid I will probably lose all my data?" Of course, I will back up my data but It would take some time to transfer the data. I am projecting a usable 24TBs. Transferring data from the back up would be the last resort. I didn't want to use a raid card. I was concerned that it might fail and I will lose everything. I recently learned that motherboards support RAIDs... that seems a bit more promising. I wanted to run unraid because I want to run a Plex media server. I have been into 4K videos and I need a lot of space. I also want to run Nextcloud and of course Virtual Machines. I am considering a motherboard based array. But that would make unraid pointless. At this point, I don't know which route I am going to take. I would not use unraid if there is a NAS solution out there for windows. I guess my main questions are that if I take the raid motherboard route, would I lose my data if reinstall windows(Windows would not be part of the RAID. It would be on an SSD). Would I lose my data if I use unraid and reinstall unraid? I think yes, if so is there a way to avoid this?
  11. I ran into a big issue. As originally stated... I was going to use unraid as my OS. You need Windows to use all the RGB stuff. I am not sure if it would work through a VM. I picked out an Intel CPU and just decided to go with an external raid device. I went with Intel because of the thunderbolt three. But now... I am thinking that the RGB would be quiet annoying. At first, it might look cool. But when it's constantly in your face day and night it would be annoying. I am completely dropping the RGB stuff. Went back to AMD. I decided I will build two computers. A little server and my main PC(The 2700x) On pcpartpicker.com I got a server for about 250 dollars. I came back to the forums to check the recommend motherboards.
  12. Yeah, I mentioned that I could build a loop if needed. But the issue is the reservoir. They usually go where the hard drive cage is. I need a good amount of hard drives That's why I was leaning towards the AIO. Could I replace the fan on the Dark Rock Pro 4 with an RGB one?
  13. The dark rock pro 4 looks nice. I am looking for some RGB, thus more along the lines of liquid cooling. Something that works with Mystic Sync. I came across Cooler Master - MasterLiquid ML240R RGB.
  14. Okay, yeah you're right. It's Mystic Sync compatible. I went with the Gaming Pro Carbon. The cooler I plan on getting is the Thermaltake - Water 3.0 360 ARGB Sync Edition 56.45 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler. I am starting to think it might be a bit of overkill for this system. I don't know if you have any recommendations.
  15. I picked the VI Hero. I got a little warning, It says. " Warning! Some AMD X370 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Pinnacle Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions. " I picked the VI Hero because of aura sync. I already picked out a cooler and it does use Aura sync. I could pick a diffrent cooler, for mystic sync or whatever. But I am trying to get this over with.
  16. The issue with that board is the SATA ports. It has four. I need about six sata ports for the hard drive. I usually shoot for eight, something might need one besides the hard drives. These appear to be my only option. I attached a picture.
  17. Okay, thanks. What about the processor? I can wait until the new ones are released. What is a good recommendation in regards to the new processors coming out? (As I said I don't know how they're named).
  18. For the most part, yes, that is what I meant. I also might want to transcode 4k to 720p. I am using a laptop, it would take like six hours. The threadripper can do it in thirty minutes (I did the math). It does 121 frames per second, my computer does ten frames per second.
  19. I am not familiar with mystic sync. But, I can look into it. Which board would you recommend?
  20. The only reason I picked that board was because of the AURA sync. If you have another recommendation with aura sync, I would gladly hear it.
  21. Okay, as I was going to bed, I did a little bit more research and I did settle on the 2700x. You're right it's overclockable too. So I should be good. I also settled on the Crosshair VI Extreme. I just have one little question. I need a cheap video card. I need one that can output 4k. Any recommendations?
  22. The 2700 has a score of 15022. The 2700x has a score of 16981. Plex recommends a score of 17000 for 4k transcoding.
  23. That Ryzen 7 2700X looks really good. It's right on the borderline of 4K transcoding. What is the next step up from this processor? Also, when are these new processors expected to come out? I don't know the naming conventions for AMD. I am not sure if it's going to be a Ryzen 8 2700X coming out or what.
  24. Okay, thanks. I get it now. I was wondering about that. I was thinking about buying one of those QNAP things. But... I wasn't sure if I had the bandwidth to play 4K over the local network.
