  1. So the new board works as it is supposed to. Realized I made a mistake thinking I could run 64gb of RAM though - it's 64gb of memory 36-bit addressing, which means with 64gb of RAM the CPU can not also address a video card... Live and learn... But yes the first MB did have a defect, so all I need to do now is wait until I can actually afford the CPU I wanted in this build which will be able to address more than 64GB of memory.
  2. So, I've decided to follow threw with the RMA request on the board, for refund, and will send it out the day after the new board has arrived. Have an ASUS Prime B550-PLUS coming in Tuesday which has a max RAM support of 128GB so if this doesn't work with all 64GB I really will be lost, will update sometime next week on the outcome. The other CPU witch is known good has shown the same results when it came to RAM configuration, and anything BUT recommended configuration works, seems very strange to me, but I have seen stranger things in my time with technology.
  3. Really Thank You for you're input, I was already in that same boat and it is insuring that I'm not [up the creak without a pedal], will do some tests with a known working CPU and see if I should send back the board and/or CPU - already filed a RMA on the board day one, but all the parts at hand have only been here since Thursday (23 Sep. 2020) and threw Newegg I have time to send anything back. The only strange thing I encountered during this build is not anything I've encounter in my 11-13 years professional IT support and building. Only reason I expect Manufacturer error over my own, I can make mistakes but when every Doc supports what I have done I start questioning my ability then manufacturer's ability. I will stop by here in a day (or week if I do an RMA) to update the situation. Aside from all of that, Thanks ShrimpBrime and any other input will still be accepted until a resolution has been achieved.
  4. I've called around and couldn't find a shop with another CPU (even prev gen) other than one that would charge just less than USD 80. Will try later today with a 1st gen Ryzen CPU I have put in a build a couple of years ago for a buddy. If the same issues arise though what would be you're recommendation?
  5. Yes, I realize this, Sorry I mentioned same channel, according to the manual I need to use A2 + B2, but it only functions with A1 + A2 or B1 + B2 which is against the Manufacturers instructions The main issue is I can only ever boot with 3 out of 4 sticks even though the MoBo and CPU manuals all say I can support 64GB of RAM. I'm a resource hog not a gamer, so I do not really care about running the RAM slower - just the capacity; but, I really want to have the whole 64GB not 48GB of RAM. The only conclusion I can come up with is replacing the MoBo, as I want all 4 slots populated at max capacity, and this one doesn't seen to function properly, but I really hope someone here has some experience with this MoBo in particular and can shed some light on my issue.
  6. Ok, backstory; my fx-8320 system PSU fan died and took out PSU and VRMs, so forced to upgrade sooner than I wished - therefor got a cheaper build than I really wanted. So I now have: MoBo: ASUS TUF B450-PLUS GAMING CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 2700X RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance LPX 2666MHz (4x16GB) If I install one stick of RAM the system boots, if two are installed properly channeled the MoBo goes into "BIOS Recovery Mode", if the two are not on the same channel it boots. If three sticks of RAM are installed the system boots again, but if all 4 sticks are installed no attempt at POST. The BIOS has been updated to the latest version. Has anyone came across anything similar, out of all the years I've been in IT I haven't yet (other than obvious times where someone tried to use a 32GB ECC stick in a rig that didn't support ECC and only had a 32GB max cap) Any input appreciated, still have time to exchange out this MoBo for something else if need be.
