  1. Brilliant. I just placed my order - Thanks! -z-
  2. Screen size (and resolution) is the one property of any computer, portable or not, which is in the shortest supply. My advice is to go as large and high as you can afford and carry around. More information on the screen equals less scrolling and window switching, and that means higher productivity. All computer screens are too small. Even the 65" ones, if you ask me...? -z-
  3. Hello, all the good people! I am wondering whether there is anything special about the soft tubing sold by places specializing in computer liquid cooling? How does (if at all) this tubing differ from what we can get at Home Depot or Lowes? Thanks for your time, -z-
  4. That slightly breaks my heart - but thank you for your reply. Bad news is better than no news in this instance, I think. Back to the drawing board then... 900 is even bigger than X9. Fantastic case, though...I would have to move to much larger quarters and re-do my entire study to make either the 900 or X9 work. A few bridges too far, I am afraid...? Thanks again, much appreciated! -Z-
  5. Yea, but X9 is just too damn large. No space on my desk for this monster... -Z-
  6. The controller in my build is not for fan control but for it's ability to display data from temperature sensors. I have two loops, one for the MOBO, and one for the GPU. I placed four in-line temperature sensors in the build, two per loop, to measure the temperature of the liquid at the points of entry and exit for each block. I like to see what the deltas are. So as you see, I am stuck with the 5.25" gizmo... -Z- P.S. Yea, I just heard about Caselabs a couple of days ago myself. Bummer...
  7. Thanks for your reply! Level 20 XT is certainly beautiful, but it is lacking the 5.25" external bay. I would have to mount the controller in an external box and run some custom cabling to make it work, which while possible, I would like to avoid doing... -Z-
  8. Hello all good people! The time has come in my open-bench build to dismantle the pieces and re-assemble them in a permanent housing. For this I need a case. Only one of the many cases I have reviewed checks all of the boxes: Thermaltake Core X5 Tempered Glass Black Edition. I have an E-ATX motherboard with a very heavy monoblock and a GPU also with a very heavy full size block. Together over 8 pounds of copper. Therefore I would love to mount the MOBO horizontally, and the GPU vertically in what I consider the most natural as far as the gravity is concerned positions. I also have a 5.25" bay fan/temperature controller/monitor which wants to be visible and installed in a 5.25" bay. The problem is, that Thermaltake Core X5 Tempered Glass Black Edition seems to be an endangered species. Despite me searching high and low and for (I am not kidding) three days, I can not find it. Sure, there is the "snow" (white) edition, but I strongly prefer black, and there is the X9 monster-sized bigger brother of the X5, but it I do not have enough room for it. And now for the two-part question: 1. Can anybody confirm whether the Thermaltake Core X5 Tempered Glass Black Edition case is discontinued by Thermaltake, or am I experiencing a temporary supply-chain malfunction and a resulting shortage? 2. Is there any other case in the wild that would meet my requirements? E-ATX Horizontal MOBO 5.25" external bay Black Thanks for your time! -Z-
