  1. Hello all, I messed up my monitor in a move months ago and it's a nice 27" 1080p monitor, HP27ES, is it actually that straightforward like a laptop screen replacement, where do I get the parts, is it even worth it? A $40 panel and some work is way better than the $150 it sells for.
  2. Thank you for stopping me from doing something silly then, I had good cable management going on but then I added a USB Expansion card which has a sata cable going from the middle to the right hand sata power cable, and then I added the 2070 on top of my 1050ti, so there's what feels like awkward pcie cables in the front but I can't fix that. Thanks!
  3. That gives me a good starting point, that's not expensive at all, so where does a fan controller come into play, I'm not sure yet how I'd connect those all to the motherboard, connecting all of them individually sounds messy so is that maybe what the fan controller does?
  4. Hello all, my EVGA 2070 is getting pretty hot from minecraft shader, I think I could do some stuff with the fan curves, maybe undervolting?, it to help a bit. I've got the Fractal Design Focus G so I think that case should be good. I think I want to install case fans to help with airflow, but I don't understand where to start with the million and one unhelpful articles online, I'm seeing stuff about fan controllers and such, I've gott a CX 750M corsair power supply and the ASUS z490E mobo if that helps. I think I'd want to add an exhaust fan in the back. I feel like I might as well have them be rgb since it's not gonna change the price much, and my case comes with two 120mm built in fans for the front that glow white and you can't change the color, so I might as well upgrade those. Do I just need to find out the size and choose one I can find or what?
  5. I ended up going for the original one mentioned, price was it's solid and I'm sure it's gonna be fine, the speakers aren't for listening to the highest quality jams, it's basically so if he did a cool recording/beat that he wants to show me, or he has a funny meme I should look at, he switches to the speaker output. He just opened the gifts today and he hasn't gotten the chance to use them yet, but he does seem to like them.
  6. I actually went for that setup then, makes his speakers better, while giving a button instead of dial, and more usb ports, seems like more function rather than just audio switching. Thanks!
  7. Thank you so much for that, audo mixer is what I wasn't looking for, that helped my search.
  8. Hello all, I'm trying to get my friend some pc upgrade stuff, I'm getting him a lower performance 1TB SSD WD Blue M.2, an expansion card so he has 4 3.0USB slots, and a type C, but then we get to his audio set up on this pre built gaming pc. He currently has the following: 1. USB Headset 2. 3.5mm Jack basic speakers 3. USB-A to USB-B midi keyboard 4. USB for power, and 3.5mm jack for recording based microphone So there's two things I was thinking of doing, 1. I've seen him get annoyed with the windows device manager for sound switching from headset to speakers, back to headset, and I thought there were audio switches where he could plug the devices into a little box and push button 1 to use device 1 basically, I couldn't find those that would work with his setup. 2. Since the above was a dead end, I thought I'd get him a sound card now that he's getting into FLStudio, and he's got the mic and keyboard equipment for it, but all sound cards seem to only accept 3.5mm jacks, so again, what gives. I'm pretty familiar with a good chunk of pc building but I've never touched audio, and the solutions I thought I had, seem to be non existent without spending several hundred dollars on pro equipment which isn't necessary.
  9. Will try both tips when I’m done unpacking today, I’ve already reseated cpu, and you are correct, but the manual states that if I had one stick of ram, to use A2, so I’m not sure if B2 would post by itself. How would I check for broken memory channels on the cpu? Did you mean motherboard, again, if so, how would I? They visually all look identical and normal
  10. You’re killing me even though you’re just the messenger, ugh!
  11. Hey Guys, so life’s been chaotic, I’m moving a few miles away and for reasons it’s a lot of preparation and planning and with work, I haven’t had a lot of time to work on this pic build I just did and I just want it over with. I got the following hardware EVGA B5 650W power supply orginally GIGABYE AEROUD H470 now ASUS ROG Z490E i3-10100 MSI GEFORCE GTX 1050Ti 4GB Some basic $45 cooler master cooler 16GB(2X8) of Trident Z RGB DDR4 3600mhz ram basic Storage So initially I went to build it and I got a cpu error on the leds so I went to Best Buy and temporarily bought and eventually returned a different 10th gen processor, i noticed the board had bent pins. So I go back to Best Buy, return the processor, get a different board, unplug all the cables and get everything set back up, then I’m getting code 55 with the dram led lighting up. So I troubleshoot and here’s what I’ve found 1. both sticks function on their own in slot A2 2. without functioning ram(no led) I can’t get to bios 3. neither stick of ram functions by itself in slot B2 i have made sure I’m following the manual for ram and it does want me to use these slots, basically numbered left to right, slots 2&4 Did I get a faulty board again?
  12. I’ve been really busy this week so I apologize if this is annoying to reply so late, I will try and find stats on the motherboard when I get time probably on Monday, I’ve been trying to find results on the router and it’s not being super clear there, however, there is a different router I was planning on waiting to get, but due to certain ways this router is behaving in other stuff I think I’m about to get it in the next couple days
  13. I am using that over lan, via wifi, I have the computer plugged in via ether net to the router, my laptop is wifi and 2 feet above the router on my desk. running sudo ethtool enp4s0 | grep Speed, i get the result "Speed: 100Mb/s", using putty to connect to server from laptop. So it seems I didn't make it far to find the problem? is it a problem, what is that telling me is the bottleneck, the nic?
  14. Rainmeter is actually people basically writing scripts and sharing them, its been on my to do list to learn the language it runs on, there's not a gui, just previewing what you made by running it. Conky might be the way to go then, research is necessary still of course but you all helped me a lot with where to start, otherwise I was headed for hours of youtube rabbit holes.
