I've been a Linux user since 2014, and recently, I have been reading a lot about filesystem indexing.
Was curious to know how windows search works. Particularly,
• Does it automatically index, either in repeated intervals, or based on changes to the filesystem?
• Does the search first check in the index, and then search the full filesystem anyway? Is this why search always take a lot of time to complete, even if the file is found (in the index) immediately?
⮚ If yes, won't that cause issues... like reduce the life of the spinning hard disk?
More information or links to read would also be appreciated
Thanks
