Or if it is non etc can i mix brands and ram size like a 4gb nonecc ram i found for cheap.

I have a asus m5a78l-m/usb3 and have 8gb of ram. I put a heatsink on and removed the sticker and I have no idea if it's ecc or nonecc ram. I found plenty of cheap ecc ram but I don't know what to do to find out without removing and the heatsink and tape.
