  1. Hey everyone, so I've been recently been trying to condense my gaming setup (which I also use for work and school) to one device for everything that I do. I am willing to pay decent bucks to achieve this. In my journey, I bought a Gigabyte Aero 15-x9 which has an i7-8750H and the new RTX 2070 max-q card in it, with a 144hz display. I paid nearly $2,500 for this device with taxes and all that, and I was hoping for it to be everything that I wanted. I've had nothing but issues. I do most of my gaming/work with two monitors, so I have a 60hz display at my desk that I connect my laptop to, often having a game on my main laptop screen and some work or something on the external display. Gaming is intolerable with this, the game just goes super choppy on me if anything is happening on the second display, and it's just a terrible experience. I've NEVER had this happen before, and I've built desktops, and I've had many laptops in the past. All I want to do is have gaming on the laptop screen and like a video or anything else on the second monitor without issues, just like I have with my desktop computer. I've looked all over the internet for solutions but many people just say "you can't have a 144hz display and a 60hz display with each other and expect things to run smoothly" and are basically saying to give up, even though my friend has the previous model of this with NO issues at all, and I've even set the display to 60hz while connected with no improvement. I've been trying to fix it for nearly three weeks now since I bought it, and even got a replacement because I thought it might be a hardware defect, but nope same issue on the replacement one. Even when a second monitor isn't connected, some games just randomly get choppy for no reason; it's very inconsistent and completely infuriating. I've had a desktop with an i3 and a 960 that ran games smoother than this. I've done everything from updating drivers to completely wiping the SSD and reinstalling fresh windows ISO, installing directly from NVIDIA or directly from Gigabyte, checking thermals, running bench testing software to check scores... I'm just pissed now because I don't know how to move forward. Basically, I'm down to the point of just returning this god forsaken thing and looking somewhere else, maybe into 60hz laptops with good GPUs because I think much of this issue stems from that, but I still don't understand why my friend among clearly everyone else who bought this laptop doesn't have this issue... Everything else about this device I like, so what would be a good alternative? I'm looking at Razer Blade 2019 (or 2018) because it's a similar sleek design and form factor with powerful computing, but I'm not sure if I should wait for other options to come out this year that may be more tempting. Any suggestions? I've also contacted Gigabyte directly and they just told me to update drivers after a week of emailing them so that just made me even more mad. If I didn't update my drivers already I wouldn't have been in that boat.
