  1. Are these specs good for Freenas? Running a Windows 10 VM and storage pools. And, what would be my ideal config for the Windows VM, if possible. Thanks!
  2. The server will be running a Windows 10 VM that will be doing like Microsoft Office stuff then we will just use the server to store maybe some media and all. This server will be for home use.

  4. Would this graphics card/video card be fine for just running a server, using freenas. https://www.microcenter.com/product/354355/evga-geforce-8400-gs-single-fan-1gb-ddr3-pcie-video-card Also, would I need another graphics card if I plan on running a VM which I am going to remote into via like VNC? Thanks
  5. So, I have decided to build my server by myself. My question is that if I was to get a CPU from 2016. Would it have any difference from an 2018 CPU? Thanks!
  6. I planned on installing the OS to a Thumb drive. The Windows VM would be used for: - Opening/Editing Excel Files - Google Chrome - Downloading/Uploading Simple Files Like Accounting Duties. Thanks!
  7. Very good suggestions. 1. So, the reason I chose Freenas since it is FREE. lol. But, would you have another option. 2. I am open to another drive which is something I will source out of Dell itself. Thanks.
  8. So, I am planning on getting a server, here is my current config: https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/pdr/poweredge-t140/pe_t140_13161_vi_vp?selectionState=eyJPQyI6InBlX3QxNDBfMTMxNjFfdmlfdnAiLCJNb2RzIjpbeyJJZCI6MTU1MCwiT3B0cyI6W3siSWQiOiJHWUU3MjNMIn1dfSx7IklkIjoxNTcwLCJPcHRzIjpbeyJJZCI6IjFUQkFDIn1dfV0sIlRpIjoiIiwiRGkiOiIifQ%3D%3D&cartItemId= I have two questions: 1. Should I go for 6 core 6 thread (current) or 4 core 4 thread. 2. Is the server good for my plan: Plan - Run FreeNas - Run one Virtual machine with windows 10 - maybe backup a laptop to server I need to stay inside of around $650 budget. Thanks
  9. Thanks alot! I will look into the WAN Shows.
  10. Just wondering, according to the Chrome Extension: Wappalyzer, Floatplane uses Firebase for its database. So, what do they use to store videos? Just wondering. And how would you be able to serve to so many people? Thanks
  11. Now I get to watch one ad before video and one after it starts.
  12. I was able to use Pop OS which runs amazingly. No issues so far.
  13. If I am creating let's say a page where each item you click goes to a separate page and constantly new items are being added, how would I be able to generate pages for each item in React without manual each page creation? Each page has the same structure but different content
  14. I have a Sony Vaio from 2009. I was planning on giving it an SSD upgrade as the CPU and RAM are just fine. What are some things will the SSD probably improve on a Centrino 2 dual-core with 4GB ram. The laptop used for Google Chrome and word. Was running windows 10 on it with the hard drive.
  15. Just started Recreating Bootstrap Project.

  16. How about taking the battery out of the laptop plugged into a UPS
  17. Would anything happen to the battery? And also, I would use the "server" for installing like Apache and PhpMyAdmin on it.
  18. I have a old laptop that is a i3 with a 500gb hard drive and 4gb ram. I was wondering what would happen if I made into a server and made it run 24/7. I was just thinking about maybe like an archive server with not that important data. Thanks
  19. I think your advantage is the SSD. Usually, an SSD computer will perform better. My computer is sitting with an HD. Deciding to not upgrade since it runs just fine on an HD. Only Windows is a little slow. But PopOS is just fine.
  20. I just installed pop os yesterday and I am surprised by its speed. When we think about, why do we become too harsh to our old pcs by not using them anymore since anything old works longer than anything today? Just like old is gold. Just like PopOS and these other OS's, these help us care for our old PC's. I remember that when my new HP Pavilion started giving me issues in like 8 months, the same pc helped me get through my homework and so did my other old ones. I think there should be a company that takes Old Pc's and probably installs a good OS for it that will run it just like new.
