  1. As I can get 32 GB Ram, 3 years of premium and onsite support (and we have two local authorized repair centers here in town), and two 1 tb drives plus the Quadro p2000 option for my budget I think I'll go with the Thinkpad P1 from Lenovo. Thanks folks!
  2. 4 to 5 lbs. Upper budget would be $4500. Looking at Razer for build quality as many say it's like the mbp. I don't want a lot of plastic or flex in my machine. It's not for gaming either as that's what the Xbox is for. It seems that all manufacturers have their issues. And 6200 for a mbp with 32 gb is nuts lol. May wind up with an xps. Surfacebook 2 is nice but I don't really need the tablet part and the more ram the better I think. Lunchbox....interesting.
  3. I'm actually seriously considering the Razer as well. Still more research ?
  4. Hi Radium! Thanks! By high end do you mean the precision workstations by dell? Those get very very expensive very quickly, though I'd say my budget is up to $4500 tax in so a bit more than I spent on my desktop build (around $3900 or so).
  5. Hello everyone! I'm looking into a laptop so I can actually get away from my home office every so often. I do tech support right now, but am learning Affinity Photo, Blender, Substance Painter and Davinci Resolve. So I've been looking for a laptop that can handle that, has decent battery life (anything 6 + hours, in case dumb me forgets the charger), and has excellent build quality (I want this to last for at least 4 years, and this won't be used for gaming). I've looked at the MSI P63 Modern (and as I can get two 1 tb ssds and an extra 16 gb of ram bringing it to 32) and like the look, battery life but need to feel the build. I started out looking at the Dell, but oh lord the issues online....but it also "still" seems to be one of the best options. Then there's Lenovo x1 Extreme, less battery life than the dell and has the option of 4k (which I'd take over 1920 * 1080 given the choice but have no issues with 1080). Expensive.... I've been told that MSI support is very good, but it looks like Lenovo's is as well (given any options I'd definitely take a 3-year onsite plan). Dell...not so much. And I even looked at the Macbook Pro, but then looked at the CAD $6200 they wanted, slapped myself and closed the page. I'd love an opinion or two. I'll know a lot more once I've handled the MSI but I really really do like the look of it.
