Also in this YouTube video I found of a teardown of the phone you can kind of see a bit of a gap that would let the battery shift up and down which is what mine does it doesn't move side to side so I'm fairly confident that it's the battery moving in that little space

Yeh whatever it is it only seems to be shifting around a couple mm and I'm pretty sure its the battery because it feels like that kind of soft clunky you'd expect a battery to be. I might look into bringing it somewhere to get it stuck down as I don't think I'd be confident enough to do it myself ?. Thanks for your help ?

I got a screen replacement on my Xiaomi Mi 8 a couple of weeks ago and lately have been noticing what seems to be my battery sliding around inside the phone and am wondering if it was not stuck down properly. In order to get the screen replacement I had to order the screen myself for the repair technician and the kit that the screen came with just came with the screen, cleaning wipes and adhesive for the actual screen itself but I don't think there's was battery stickers and in the videos I've seen of a screen replacement for the phone they all involve taking off the back and taking out the battery. TL;DR - My Mi 8 battery is loose in my phone and I want to know if it is bad
