  1. Hi all. I have a Dell Latitude E5570 that currently has a 1366x768 and I was looking to upgrade it. From the research I've done I should be able to upgrade to a 1920x1080 no problem but I was wondering if I could also upgrade to the touchscreen model. The limitation is the 40 pin connector that is different between the two types. So here is my question that I hope someone can answer. If I get the touch screen model and the 40 pin connector it requires, will this connector work on my laptop? It wouldn't make sense in my head for the motherboards to be limited but I'm wondering if anyone knows for sure. Thanks!
  2. @TheBees86 I was hoping that wasn't the case but I agree that nothing else really seems to be the problem. Since you said you've worked on these types of laptops before, what would be your troubleshooting steps start to finish? If possible I'd like to kind of just run through both boards again step by step and see if I missed something. Thanks for your insight btw
  3. @TheBees86 That is the case. However I have tested the port itself with the charger plugged in and I am getting the expected voltage through it. Also I did try the dock again and it did the same thing. However I did not fully reassemble the case so that might have simply been a misalignment.
  4. Reposting this to get more opinions I've got a Dell Latitude E5570 that was given to me about a year ago. I used it for a while before it stopped charging over the port last December. Essentially the charging light on the charger would turn off when the laptop was plugged in. It could still charge over a dock, which I had access to, so I used that for a while. Then even that stopped working over the summer. From what I could find and tested it seemed to be a bad capacitor or transistor in the charging circuit so I bought a new motherboard for it, installed it then tested plugging it in without the battery and with the battery and in both cases, again the charger light turned off. I've tried plugging in just the adapter to the charger without being connected to the motherboard and the light stays on. I've also tested the adapter and charging brick with a multimeter and the voltage coming off seems right so I'm not sure what the issue could be. Any ideas LTT community?
  5. @GhostRoadieBL Oof. Yeah I've tried a number of things at this point and the fact that it does it even with a new motherboard is odd. I might try and repost this to get some more opinions but we'll see. Thanks for your help though
  6. @GhostRoadieBL Been about a week but finally got my hands on a multimeter. The charge brick and the internal charge plug are fine. From the wall to the connector on the plug I get the expected voltage for the power brick. So once again I'm not sure what's wrong here
  7. @GhostRoadieBL Not sure I do have access to one but thanks for the video! I'll take a look at it and see if I can get my hands on a multimeter. Will update if I find anything.

  9. @WambleCroppedHonestly not too sure as to what VR titles I'd be playing but I mostly do a lot of single player games. Prey, Shadow of War, Borderlands, etc. It'd be nice to have the option to play something like Fallout 4 VR or Half-Life Alyx but stuff like Blade and Sorcery would more than likely be the main type of stuff I use VR for.
  10. Hi all, not sure of the best place to post this but I am planning on doing a setup upgrade. Looking to upgrade my GPU, monitor, and get a VR kit. Currently I have an i7 7700K, 32GB TridentZ RAM, an Asus Strix GTX 980, and two Dell monitors (one is a 24" 1920x1200 60Hz and the other is a 20", maybe, 1600x900 60Hz). GPU I was thinking of getting an Asus Strix 2080 (non-Ti or super) but wasn't entirely sure if that would be my best option for my CPU. Mainly I just need it to be able to run my monitors (including the new one I get) and VR. Monitor I would like to get a 1440p 144+ Hz monitor but there are so many I don't even really know where to start. I'm pretty comfortable with my 24" monitor right now but I think I could enjoy 27" so anywhere between those sizes would be perfect. VR I know there are a lot out there so not too sure where to start. I've had a little experience with the first gen Vive and liked it but I also know that Oculus has some really good stuff. So I'm leaning towards either the current Vive, non-pro, or the current Steam VR compatible Oculus. As far as cost for all of this, I'm looking at spending around $700-$800 for the GPU, $400-$500 on the monitor and about the same on VR. My budget isn't super set in stone but I'd like to get everything for well under $2000 if at all possible. Suggestions and opinions on all of this would be greatly appreciated. Also is this even really a good time to do an upgrade? Thanks!
  11. Well I’ll be clean installing to my 970 Pro not my current drive if anything then I’ll just move my files from there. Sorry for all the confusion
  12. Fair enough. I guess that’s what I’ll have to do then. If I do a clean install on my 970, is there any reason I would still need a Linux boot? If I do an install, would I not be able to access my old drive if I assign it a drive letter?
  13. Ok. That’s a little bit more clear to me now. It just occurred to me though that my copy of Windows is using a Windows Insider key that they handed out at full release a couple years back (I was apart of the program since they launched it) so I don’t believe there’s anyway for me to transfer my key. Is there no way for me to fix the errors that I am getting?
  14. Slight update. It has come to my attention that there are two Windows Boot Manager entries in my boot menu and they point to the same drive but give different error codes.
  15. Still open to other suggestions or thoughts. Looking into Linux stuff that was mentioned before but not sure if I’ll have the expertise or resources to do it.
