  1. OK I figured it would be fine, that's what it's designed for. I'll take a look in the PSU manual to see if there's anything mentioned about max wattage per socket. Cheers.
  2. Hey guys, Quick question: From my PSU I have the cable running from the actual supply unit to my GPU. I Currently have a GTX 1070 and it only uses one 8pin cable. I am upgrading to a Titan Xp and it uses an 8 + 6 pin connection. My question is this: on that cable already running to my GPU there is a second set of 6+2pins dangling there, do I use this to connect the GPU or do I need to run a whole new cable. I think I can just use that connector but I am not 100% sure so I thought I would ask. Cheers!
  3. I am definitely looking at a Titan Xp, and I agree with the cooling aspect. Not a fan of the blower style cooling.
  4. I saw your tests as Princess Luna linked one of their previous posts to it. Very comprehensive, and very interesting indeed. In my experience though I find the games I play use on average around 4 gb VRAM, with Total War titles going upward of 6, and even higher on DX12. Based off the trends from my personal experience I feel as if I would prefer more VRAM, and also from what I found, the RTX 2080 is very similar to the Titan Xp in terms of gaming performance, as such I feel the Titan Xp suits my needs better for the same amount of money.
  5. I read through the thread, there are some interesting points. I think I would have to agree that the Titan Xp, however, is the better value for me. I will definitely be doing 1440p exclusively and I can already see my vram usage get 6+ gb, so having the extra headroom will be very helpful. Thanks for sharing!
  6. I think I am going to go for the Titan Xp. The vram, and the identical performance between cards (sort of, slightly titan favoured) paired with the certainty that the card will work (I will get a live demo before purchase, and the RTX cards have had some DoA's lately). Also should not use too much power for my PSU, and I will not be OCing anyway (probably, idk).
  7. Good point, I will look for Radeon 7's. Currently there are no 1080tis that are not blower style cards in my area. They are about $900 but the price is offset by the travel I need to do to get to them. CND btw. I know the Xp is blower style but I can overlook that for that card I think.
  8. I am comparing to Titan Xp for certain. Starwars Galactic edition, but I dont think that really matters. I am trying to negotiate down the price, what pricepoint would you consider the Xp to be a better value? assume 1100 for 2080.
  9. Good input, I should mention that I will be gaming at 1440p
  10. Comparing to Gigabyte RTX 2080 Gaming OC, I would consider them the same price for the time being.
  11. Hey guys, There is currently a used titan xp available for $1100 cdn used and private sale near me, and there are RTX 2080s on sale for the same after tax. I am wondering if I should go for the RTX 2080 or the Titan xp. Let me know if you need anymore details. EVGA 650w QC PSU btw. So the titan may bring me closer to max load. EDIT: I will be gaming with the card at 1440p.
  12. If I do get coil whine I can always look at buying a 750w psu down the line. But I think I would be ok for the interim?
  13. I have not purchased it yet. There are sales from retailers for an RTX 2080 which will be my backup option. I know that my PSU will be fine with that card. I can get the Zotac for RTX 2080 Ti AMP Extreme right now for 1450 Canadian with no tax which is very close to MSRP. I think it's a good deal right now. Plus I don't have to wait for shipping
  14. Hey all! I have recently found a used RTX 2080ti that is at a price that I find fair, so I am considering buying it. I am concerned that my current PSU may not be sufficient to run the card however, so I am hoping you guys can help me make the decision to pull the trigger or not. PC Specs: EVGA 650 80+ Gold QC Semi Modular PSU Intel i5-9600k @ 4.8 gHz & 1.32v 2x 8 gb 3200 MHz RAM (Total 16 gb @ 3200 MHz) Gigabyte z390 UD Currently running Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming 2 SSD's 1 HDD @ 7.2k rpm Let me know if you need any more information. I ran the Seasonic wattage calculator a couple times. The cards I am looking at are either the Zotac RTX 2080ti AMP EXTREME, or Asus RTX 2080ti Dual OC. Both have a boost clock around 1750 MHz I believe. I do intend to leave the cards at stock settings, and I don't mind lowering the clock a little bit if I need to. Thanks for your help in advance, cheers! EDIT: Thanks for the help guys, the seller ended up pulling the ad, he wants to keep his cards for himself. But now I know that should another 2080ti deal come up I should be ok.
