  1. Hello. This forum has been super useful my last couple posts so i was hoping for some more advice. My sister needs a laptop. She wants it for school purposes primarily but also wants ti have something that will be able to play an upcoming game called 'planet zoo'. I found a laptop at Best Buy that looked ok to me but I was wondering if you all had any better ideas or laptops you know are good. The budget is technically $800 CAD but ideally below that. I found the 'system requirements' for 'planet zoo' : Here are the Planet Zoo System Requirements (Minimum) CPU: Intel i5-4460/AMD FX-8320 CPU SPEED: Info RAM: 8 GB OS: Windows 7 (SP1+)/8.1/10 64bit VIDEO CARD: nVidia GeForce GTX 760 / AMD Radeon HD 7870 (2GB) PIXEL SHADER: 5.0 VERTEX SHADER: 5.0 DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 2048 MB Planet Zoo Recommended Requirements CPU: Intel i7-6770K / AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU SPEED: Info RAM: 16 GB OS: Windows 7 (SP1+)/8.1/10 64bit VIDEO CARD: nVidia GeForce GTX 1080 / AMD Radeon RX 580 (4GB) PIXEL SHADER: 5.1 VERTEX SHADER: 5.1 DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 4096 MB And here are the specs of the laptop we were thinking of: AMD Ryzen 2200U 8GB DDR4 2400 SDRAM 1TB HDD AMD Radeon Vega 3 graphics I have a link to the Best Buy ad as well if you need more info https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/hp-15-6-laptop-black-amd-ryzen-3-2200u-1-tb-hdd-8gb-ram-windows-10/13028789 Thank you so much for the help. I'm still new to the scene
  2. @fasauceome Yea I can wait; it's not really urgent. @trevb0t Thanks for the list
  3. Hello. I Recently completed a 2000$ pc build and after a month realized I didn't need anywhere near that much fire power. I sold it, but still would like a decent computer that runs better than my current potato. I already have a monitor etc from my previous build so no worries there. I found this part list on the mega thread and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. 4. @Slottr Yes for gaming. I was hoping for 1440p and whichever refresh rate makes sense for that price range. If I can get significant improvement in the GPU for an extra $100 (meaning 700 CAD total) I may consider it. @Turtle Rig Don't have a preference as this is my first build and am un-familiar with the brands. My case is going to be black and white if that makes any difference. Thanks guys
  5. I'm currently ordering parts and have most of what I need. I still need the GPU and since there are so many on the market I was wondering what you guys think is the best option for around 500-600 CAD I'm making an AMD build with the 2700x with the ASUS X470 MOBO Thanks
  6. @Spotty to be honest, I don't really know what I'm going to need. As it is now I don't play very graphic heavy games; nor do I have very many games on my current computer at all since I was a console player for most of my years. I just wanted to make a system that would be good enough to play any of the titles that come out at high quality for the next couple years. Also I don't quite know the difference between motherboards and what that means for future upgrades. Thanks again
  7. @fasauceome and @Spotty wow; you guys/girls (hey its 2019, can't be too careful) are awesome. My current computer is a piece of crap pre built from 5 years ago and I can barely play rocket league at the lowest settings lol. I'm sure anything is going to be a significant upgrade. Thanks for your lists! If I do decide to spend a little more; what do you think are the things I could change from the $1269 list you provided?
  8. the 1500 CAD is not super firm. If you guys think spending even an extra 300$ will make a significant difference, I'm willing to put in a little extra money Also thanks so much for the replies already!
  9. So I've never built a computer before but after some research and watching plenty of Linus videos; I couldn't be more excited. Based off of one friends advice and some of my own research I made a list of parts that I was planning on purchasing within the next two months as I save up money. I'm hoping someone with more experience could offer some advice for if I should swap something out, get a different case etc etc. My budget is around $1500 (CAD) Will be used primarily for gaming I don't need to be playing at Ultra setting at 4k, just well enough that I can enjoy it ideally the computer won't need any replacement parts for awhile. Thanks to everyone who replies Here's my list so far: CPU: Intel Core I7 8700K 3.7 GHz 6 Core Cooler: Cooler master - master liquid ML120R RGB Motherboard: MSI Z-370 A Pro Memory: Vengeance LPX 16 (2 - 8 GB) DDR 4 3000 Storage: Crucial MX 500 - 500 GB ssd (and?)
