  1. a few days ago my Dell G5 5587(i7-8750H,16GB RAM,1060 max-q) suffered a final blow after just 1 and a half years of use...luckily dell offered me a full payback so now i have around 1350 euros to spend on a new gaming machine...since i was looking for some deals i stumbled upon a newer version of G5 with 9th gen i7 and RTX 2070 max-q for 1500 euros...after watching some reviews and videos a am still not convinced if i should go on and buy it or buy a different one with RTX 2060 but has guaranteed better thermal performance...so i turn to you guys for some advice on this cause im not sure which one would have better gaming performance(mainly Destiny 2) the G5 one or something like zephyrus / legion / omen / msi with 2060?
  2. So i have had my laptop in service a week ago and when i got it back the first thing i noticed when trying to turn it on was, that the pre-boot check showed an error saying that the system cannot verify the wattage of the power adapter pluged into the computer and that it may not charge properly...when i just skipped the message and the windows booted it was behaving quite normal no throttling or any problem whatsoever occured but still i was a bit worried so i tried to find out what was the cause of that error and i discovered that these di*kheads working on my laptop sent me an adapter that had the same connector and wattage but the manufacturer claims on his site that the laptop and adapter are not compatible...fast forward a week and the first real problem occured...plugged the laptop was throttling as hell (destiny 2 before 60 fps capped but never went above 70 degrees and now it always jumps around 45-55 fps)...so i started digging in my pc and found out that it showed "pluged in, not charging"...in XTU i had constan current limit throttling, TDP never went above 15W(!) and clockspeeds were even below the base clock of the processor If anyone can help me with this issue i would be very happy...i already called the guys at the service company and they agreed to send me a new adapter but until then i cant really be this way...i really need to be able to use my computer for work and i cant afford to just wait for the new adapter Attached file: Screenshot of XTU graph during stress test My Laptop: Dell G5 5578 Intel Core i7-8750H Nvidia GeForce 1060 max-q 16GB(2x8GB) Ram
  3. So I have been asigned a laptop at work that has been in the company for a few years already...It is a HP Probook 650 G1 with i7-4712mq and AMD 8750M Well the issue is that the temps displayed by XTU are around 85 at idle while CPU utilization is just below 20% and the laptop is REALLY running hot most of the time...i tried to undervolt it a bit but achieved just a 5 degrees improvement...I also tried to open it and see if it maybe has a bunch of dust built up inside but it was quite clean(to my surprise)...what is also interesting is the fact that Active Core Count in XTU shows just 1 all the time even through it has 4 cores total...my initial thoughts were that the TMI had dried out but the heatsink was quite hot and the fan had been blowing hot air as well so the heat transfer from cpu and gpu is OK IMO(not sure bout that) If you have any suggestions about how i should treat this laptop to improve its thermals, i would be very pleased if you shared them with me.
  4. Well i have bought a dell g5 with i7-8750H and GTX-1060max-q lets say half a year ago and i really got into playing games(mainly fps such as Destiny 2) and i noticed that my laptop was throttling nearly every minute, on the details the game determined to be optimal for me, from around 80 fps to 30 ish and sometines even as low as 15 fps in some intense pvp matches so i naturally adjusted some details to low preset actually but still there are some occasional drops to 30-40 fps...so i was thinking of buying a cooling pad for my laptop to upgrade the thermals to be able to play at least at medium preset...can someone please recommend a brand or a specific pad that would make a difference for a reasonable price
