  1. Thanks, are you actually using them on the go or would you consider them too bulky for that? I was a bit concerned about their size given the lack of hinges for folding. I would also like to thank everyone else for their input. One of my friends has the Sony XM3's which I saw recommended quite often; so I think I'll order the Amirons, see how they measure up in comparison and then decide if they're worth keeping despite the cost. I'll wait a bit to see if they'll go on sale for black friday, might post an update to conclude the thread once I've made my decision.
  2. Hi everyone, I'm in the market for a pair of headphones to be used in conjunction with my phone or laptop for commute and office use. For the sake of mobility, they need to be wireless and function properly without DAC/preamp. Closed over-ear models are preferable for their passive isolation; active noise cancelling is not a requirement (I've never tried it - is it worth it? I reckon it has to distort the audio to some degree so I shy away from it). A relatively neutral sound profile would be preferable because I listen to diverse music as well as podcasts (Mainly metal & rock, but also jazz and classic) and I prefer to be able to hear each individual instrument rather than have an overpowering bass drown out lowered mids. I've looked around a bit and I'm currently eyeing the Beyerdynamic Amiron wireless headphones because it seems I don't have to make many compromises with them. The build looks solid and comfortable and I quite like the idea of being able to personalize the sound profile to my hearing automatically (assuming it works as advertised). The only thing that bothers me is the lack of dedicated buttons for on/off, pause/play and volume control (They seem to have touch gestures for this but imo that's a gimmick that is bound to not work properly when I need it to at some point). I don't mind the steep price (550€ or about 630$) too much and I'm fairly confident I would be happy with them. Still, the price tag warrants a bit of due diligence and most people here probably know more about audio tech than I do. So I'm asking to see if any of you have experiences with this headphone; or suggestions that might fit my demands better or offer comparable performance for a cheaper price. Thanks for reading and for any replies, and have a nice day!
  3. So... suppose I have a huge library of perfectly legal movies that I want to store and watch on the go - what's your recommendation for reasonably affordable (ideally sub 300$, up to 400 would still be acceptable) tablets that would be suited for this job? Requirements include: - High storage capacity (or extendability, the tablet + SD or Micro-SD would have to hold at least 500 GB, ideally up to 1 TB) - A decent screen (10 inches optimum, though anything between 8 and 13 would be tolerable. Nice colors, deep blacks. Resolution over 1080p isn't necessary because movies that definitely weren't acquired through shady means rarely come above 1080p anyways) - A Headphone Jack - an OS that supports easy file transfer from my PC via USB (basically anything that isn't iOS) I don't really care when it comes to doing anything else besides browsing and media consumption - I have my PC for that. The screen is what counts, it's just that I've never had a tablet and all my phones have pretty cheap screens, so I have a hard time judging the specs for better screens on mobile devices. Thanks in advance for any tips, have yourself a nice day.
  4. I've been looking to buy a new gaming/workstation laptop and after several hours of research (and a fun attempt at communicating with the German dell customer support - who legit wasn't able to speak English and only knew broken German - meaningless tangent tho), this was the most compelling build I could come up with: Barebone: Clevo N960TD (Link) Display: 16,1" Full HD 1920x1080 IPS 144Hz Matte | 72% NTSC Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 | VR-Ready Desktop Processor: Intel Core i7-8700 | 12MB Cache | 3.20~4.60 GHz | 6C/12T | TDP 65W Thermal Compound: Repasting CPU | GPU with IC Diamond 24 Memory RAM DDR4 SO-DiMM: 16GB ( 2x 8GB ) DDR4 2666MHz RipJaws | HyperX | Vengeance 1. Disk SSD M.2 2280: 1TB Samsung 970 Evo SSD M.2 | PCIe 3.0 x4 | NVMe | R/W 3400/2500 MB/s 2. Disk SSD ( Optional ) M.2 2280:--- 3. Disk ( Optional ) 2,5" SATA:--- Optical Disk Drive ( Optional ) :--- Wireless LAN + Bluetooth: Intel Wireless AC 9260 | Bluetooth 5.0 ( for General Use and Professionals ) Battery: 1x 62Wh Battery Pack Removable Adapter AC: 1x 230W The entire thing will cost me around 1886 Euro (~2144$ at current exchange rate), which is significantly cheaper (I'm talking 400+ bucks difference) than anything comparable I found from lenovo, dell, msi, asus, hp & Co. I'm mostly going to be using this for Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Blender and also some gaming, which is why I went for the fast SSD and pretty costly GPU. It also leaves plenty of upgrade options for storage and RAM if necessary. But there's one problem - I haven't been able to find much in the way of reviews or opinions on this barebone. Does anyone have this model or a similar rebranded one and can share some experiences? I'm especially concerned about the thermals, since these tend to be a weak point in smaller laptops. If you have any other thoughts or advice on the build, that would also be much appreciated. That turned out rather long; thanks for sticking with me and have a nice day.
