  1. Update: It was the dock. I tried running it to the TV directly from the laptop's HDMI and there's no issue. I still don't know why a dock would cause that, though.
  2. Also, I've been using this same setup for a few months, but this is a new problem
  3. There isn't a game mode I can find, but I wouldn't think the other monitor would do it too if that was the case, and also I can see the mouse move around on the TV fine, but the menu options don't highlight right away. That makes me think it's not an issue with signal processing, but I could be wrong
  4. Further clarification: it occurs in offline games too
  5. Hi, I noticed a problem with my laptop last night where in games there seems to be up to about a 1.5 second delay in game, but there are no FPS drops. Also, the mouse moves fine in menus, but it lags before options are highlighted when moused over. Laptop specs: i7, 3080, 1440p 144hz screen refresh, windows 11 I'm using a USB-C doc to output video to a 1080p TV I'm using as a monitor for schoolwork. I've locked FPS at 60 b/c that's the refresh rate of the TV. (I know, I should use the built in screen, but these have just been casual gaming sessions between lessons) I have a secondary monitor (1080p 60hz) mirroring my laptop built in screen. When I run the game on the built in screen, there is no lag, but I can still see it on the monitor that is mirroring it. Again, the mouse moves without latency, but the menu options lag before highlighting. Maybe it's the doc? But I don't know why it wouldn't effect the mouse if that was the case. Honestly I'm at a loss. Any help would be greatly appreciated, if for nothing other than satisfying curiosity.
  6. Thank you. I'll talk with her about this in the morning
  7. How would she go about checking for that or fixing it if it is?
  8. Every device connected to the network is affected. Phones, tablets, desktop and laptop computers, and game consoles.
  9. I'll tell her to try that on her computer, but I'm not sure it would work on some of the other devices it's happening on, mainly her PS4 being unable to connect to the PlayStation Network, presumably because the domain is Access Denied.
  10. I have a friend with a peculiar internet problem: she gets an Access Denied error on certain websites, i.e. any PlayStation website, EA website, and Healthcare.gov, among others. Also, this only happens sometimes - not all of the time, but often enough to be almost unusable. She has reset her router/modem several times, ISP techs have been unable to determine a problem, she has replaced her router/modem, and, as a last resort, she switched ISPs. The problem seemed to have been fixed; however, 3 days later it reappeared. She works from home and some of the websites she needs access to are for her job. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Hi guys. So, lately I've been trying to update all of my passwords and better secure my various online accounts, and I was looking into using 2FA on my phone, but my phone is old and no longer getting security updates. I don't have the money to upgrade right now, and I was wondering if setting up Two Factor Authentication on it would be a good thing or bad.
  12. I purchased the Harpoon.
  13. Okay, thank you both so much.
  14. I recently got a new wireless mouse from corsair. It has an option for 2.4G as well as Bluetooth. I was wondering which would offer the best battery life for the mouse, as I mostly play single player games and therefore would prefer battery life over the best latency. I tried using the ever-trusty Google, but did not find much that would help. If anyone knows more about this, I would appreciate learning a thing or two about the differences. Thanks.
  15. Does anyone have any information on the Maingear Pulse 17? I know the RTX Max Q cards can vary a lot from laptop to laptop, and I was wondering how this one stood up. I selected the following configuration: Pulse 17. Also, any information on the build quality would be really helpful.
