  1. My apologies, meant he might be better off first upgrading his capture card. It's really hard to know the specifics without more information. His encoding might not be the issue, and getting a new graphics card may not even improve the stream. Really do need more information. Edit: So not knowing the information, x264 should be as good if not better than the nvenc given it's a separate rig. Nvenc would only matter if he has a lot of programs going that take up CPU usage on his streaming rig, or if his streaming rig CPU was kind of bad. Since OP suggested both rigs are midgrade I would have to ascertain that nvenc encoding would produce no gain in quality. Now capture cards are pretty similar in quality, but if it is a lower grade capture card the problem might be fixed by getting an elgato or something similar. Another question would be what is your friend's data upload from his isp. Something commonly overlooked by new streamers as well. My opinion is there's too many unknown variables here.
  2. Lol very good point, although I did spend just over that combined for a CPU and MB and still cooling it I'll probably skip on the GPU cooling for right now, can always change if I OC it.
  3. From what I understand while streaming it's better to have a second PC, it's takes load off the gaming rig, and allows the steamer to continue to steam if he's having technical difficulties with the gaming rig. Also, it's very hard to give specific answers without knowing his specs, but assuming he's using obs, he'd might be better off buying a capture card to plug into his streaming rig rather than worry about the nvidia.
  4. I'm also getting an EVGA RTX2080TI Black Edition, which should arrive today. I honestly don't even know if I'll OC the GPU, should I get a cooler for that card as well, or will it be fine as is?
  5. Right now I'm looking at the Kraken 72, or h150i. I don't think that airflow should be a problem, but might upgrade fans just in case. I'm not worried about how loud it is really, most audio that's important will be through a set of headphones, so want to focus more on performance.
  6. I have a Corsair Obsidian 750D case. Also if I got the 150I pro would I need to upgrade fans, and which would be the best?
  7. I have a Corsair Obsidian 750D case.
  8. I was considering a custom loop, but from what I can tell an AIO should be more than enough for my needs. I have an Intel i9-9900k coming in with an MSI MEG z390 Godlike Gaming Motherboard, that will probably be going into a Corsair Obsidian 750D case. I want to clock the i9 at 5.0 which from what I'm reading shouldn't be a problem. What is the best possible aio I would need? Will a 480 rad work, or will I need to go 360? I don't mind mounting top, side, whichever is possible.
  9. I actually considered the extreme, what advantage does it have over the godlike?
  10. From what I understand it's a very good board for overclocking, and I like the audio codec. If it's something I want I don't see it as wasting money. That being said is there anything else you might suggest?
  11. My apologies, it's the z390, comes 9th gen ready. I'll edit post to fix. Oh yeah, I'll definitely get the windows key. The case has the standoffs, I believe the person never actually used the case if I remember they got it, but never used because of how large it is. I am open to getting a new case if anyone can suggest, but it will need to fit the Eatx mb, graphics card, and enough room for more than adequate cooling. I like the drive bays in the front for the possibility of Blu-ray, and maybe adding controllers. That's really good to know! I'm completely a novice with cooling, but would like to water cool both the GPU and CPU. I have been looking stuff up, so it'll most likely be running custom loops, looks like flex tubing. Thank you for that!
  12. So I'm beginning a new pc build. This is my first time from scratch, my previous pc was an old Dell, I added ram, a GTX 970 GPU, upgraded the processor to an Intel 3770k, got a new power supply, and case. That's the extent of my experience building. I'm looking for suggestions on my build, budget is not entirely an issue, but don't want to needlessly waste money. I just ordered my first round of parts which are... Intel i9-9900k MEG z390 Godlike Gaming Motherboard Evga RTX 2080 ti Black Edition I want to get at least 16 gigs of ram I was thinking of a Samsung 970 Evo 1tb for the main storage drive I picked up a used Corsair Obsidian 750D case that still had all the extra components at a yard sale a while back for like $20, so I would like to use that if possible, but if it's too outdated I can get something else. My goal for this PC is to double as a workstation / gaming rig. Although I might not use it, I would like to be able to overclock it considerably so would need a LOT of advice on liquid cooling as well. I was thinking of upgrading my display to 1440p @144mhz - 240mhz at 32 inches with gsync, but am having difficulty finding a monitor. That upgrade can be done later, as I'm happy with my 32 inch 1080p @ 60mhz. So any suggestions on the remaining parts, such as cooling, power supply, ram? Anything I'm missing?
  13. I'm sorry guys, I think I posted this in the wrong forum, is there anyway to move it to a pc build, or help, forum?
