  1. Here are some images I got off of a few YouTube playthroughs (the RE3 demo is free on steam, if you want to check it out yourself), where the hair looks much more, well, hair-like, and much thicker in volume, in my opinion. Hope this helps.
  2. I have a GTX 1660 with 6GB of vram, but I'm experiencing quite distracting problems in a few games, where beards, hair or facial hair, just looks really jagged and ugly (almost like there's no AA). I'm trying to combat this by using the highest settings I can at 1080p, without execeding any VRAM limits if there are any. I try to use the maximum anti-alaising setting, but this issue, still is prevailing. I've used programs such as OCCD and memtest, to test my graphic card's memory, but there doesn't seem to be any problems. I'm running my games off of an SSD, and have installed and reinstalled the games concerned. Here is a link to some example photos from Civ 6 and Resident Evil 3 to demonstrate my problem: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ZBzMutbEGfcNn8rF6. I was wandering if anyone here could help me find a solution to my technical issue. Thanks for your time.
  3. Well, I have a 1TB WD Blue 7200RPM drive, which I bought last year for my computer, but after installing most of my games on my 500gb A400 SSD, I feel like the hard drive is lethargic and just generally sluggish. I was think about selling it for about £25, as the RRP is generally around £35. and I would use this money towards a better cooler or towards another 500gb SSD in the future. After the Coronavirus dies off, I'm strongly considering selling it (probably on ebay, but I'm not sure how high the shipping fees would be), but do you think that it would be worth trying to try some kind of 'SSD' cache. I have a B450 motherboard, but AMD seems to be stopping supporting for StoreMI, recommending Enmotus FuzeDrive, which costs about £20(!). Do you think that I should keep it for a bit longer, or sell it and possibly put it towards something else? (The WD Blue 500gb 5SD, is a great price in the UK atm, and for £60/65, I might put my money towards getting one).
  4. My mother wants to upgrade her really old 'home office' PC, so I put together a plan for a Mini ITX 2400G build. I don't really wan't to add a GPU, to compromise on the small form factor design, but I was wondering whether the Vega 11 APU, is capable of two 1080p monitors/ one 4K monitor fine for non -gaming use?
  5. One of my friends (J), isn't really that tech saavy, but wants to join the PCMR (primarily for gaming). He said he had a round about £900 budget, so I put together this list for him, as a start for him to inquire into: PCPartPicker Part List Type Item Price CPU AMD Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor £119.00 @ Amazon UK Motherboard MSI B450 Gaming Plus ATX AM4 Motherboard £83.25 @ CCL Computers Memory Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory £72.78 @ Aria PC Storage Crucial MX500 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive £41.44 @ Amazon UK Storage Seagate Barracuda Computer 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive £52.50 @ Aria PC Video Card Sapphire Radeon RX 590 8 GB NITRO+ Video Card £203.46 @ Ebuyer Case Corsair SPEC-05 ATX Mid Tower Case £43.99 @ Amazon UK Power Supply Corsair CXM 550 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply £70.68 @ Amazon UK Wireless Network Adapter Gigabyte GC-WB1733D-I PCIe x1 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi Adapter £25.40 @ CCL Computers Monitor AOC 24V2Q 23.8" 1920x1080 75 Hz Monitor £117.97 @ Ebuyer Keyboard Redragon K552-R KUMARA Wired Gaming Keyboard £45.00 Mouse Logitech G402 Wired Optical Mouse £24.99 @ Amazon UK Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total £900.46 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-08-10 19:31 BST+0100 What do y'all think of this? Any things I should cut down on, or re-adjust the prices any way? I don't think he really needs more than 60/75hz, for the type of games he plays. ,Thanks
  6. In my setup, I've decided for a 2TB HDD, along with an SSD boot drive. I was deciding between the 240gb MX 500 for £40, while the Kingston A400 (480gb) in my country is only £45. Is the DRAM controller significantly worth it? As the double capacity does seem pretty attractive to me.
  7. SLI's basically dead, would definitely recommend re-selling, and getting a 5700 or 2060 Super. Much better value, performance, and compatability, especially for a nice 144hz experience at ultra.
  8. I was wondering if anyone could recommend to me a budgety 23-24" IPS Freesync monitor at 60hz (preferably with speakers, even if they're pretty bad). I''ve been looking into monitors like the (Philips 246E9QJAB/00 23.8" ), but many of the ones I've found have little reviews, don't appear in PCPartPicker, and some seem to have build quality issues, like ones from AOC. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could recommend a £100-ish ($120 USD), thanks.
  9. I have no clue how this topic lasted so long but here is an important piece of information to consider:
  10. What card would you call 'better' at that price. Apart from the Vega 56 with 8GB, no cards until the 2070 come with that much VRAM. I wouldn't either want to have worse upgrade to the 590, which comes no where close.
  11. I was thinking to pick up the 1660TI Windforce for my new build for around £240, but one of my key concerns is the measly 6GB of Vram. I would only be playing at 1920 x 1080, but I wouldn't be upgrading for around 5 years or so. Should I get the Vega 56 for about £40 more, for the 8G Vram, when it performs the same if not worse in non- Vulkan games. What do you think?
  12. I was deciding between two different gaming monitors: https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/hqmxFT/aoc-monitor-g2260vwq6 , and the https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/GLm323/acer-sb220q-bi-215-1920x1080-75-hz-monitor-sb220q-bi. They both are 75hz, Freesync with the TN at 1ms, with the IPS at 4ms. They're about the same price at £90 (around US$110 according to Google). My main issue would be the smaller 21.5" size, but what do y'all think? Additionally would you know any 60hz IPS 24/23"s with FreeSync , because that would be a good middle ground, even if it is a bit more expensive. Thanks
  13. Assuming that AMD will continue to suppport AM4 untill R 4000/5000, what do you think would be a safer bet for the long term? A higher tier B450 board (that may be discontinued by Ryzen 5000) or a lower end X470 Board for the same price. I was considering the MSI B450 Tomohawk (for around $110 USD) but I would be interested in any X470 boards you all would consider 'goodish/moderate' for the same price point, as a starting point for my research. X570 seems off the table for now, considering that most of them start of at around $200- 250. Thanks, AC.
  14. I was considering upgrading to R5 2600, but was wondering if it could still be considered a 'safe' choice in 2019. Of course, its a good processor, 6 cores, 12 threads, but AMD only assured its lifespan would be untill 2020, probably discontinued by Ryzen 4000/5000. Just wondering what would the newest Intel sockets be for i5 alternatives are. I'm not too sure (LGA1150, 1151 , 2066), but the main alternative I've seen is the i5 9400f for LGA1151, but i'm not sure how long it would last either.
  15. I've been looking at buying the G403 for about out £35 (which is about $45), it looks good, has RGB, control, weights, etc. Although on many marketplaces, like Newegg and Amazon, there's a large minority of people who have issues with noisy clicks, bad scroll wheels, etc. Just wondering if anyone has had any good/bad personal experiences with this mouse, and know any nice gaming alternatives within the same price bracket. I would really appreciate any input. Thanks, AC

  17. I'm looking for an ATX mid tower case, and am considering either the Phantex P300 (or maybe even the P350X for a little bit more, for that RGB aesthetic) or the Corsair Spec 04, both for around £60 (which is $76 USD according to Google). My friends say the Spec 04 has better airflow, and is much less cramped (42L compared to 36L), but I really won't be utilising much of that apart from an ATX motherboard and a Vega 56. I'm definitely leaning towards the P300, but what do you all think (I'm not too experienced). As well as this is it me or is the SPEC 04 the most atrocious looking item, I have ever seen, or is that me? The Phantex P300 The SPEC 04
  18. Here's a question though. If Huawei was to make their own OS instead of using one made by a different firm, would major US companies (YouTube, Google, Spotify, etc) be allowed to develop for their platform through trumps ban?Chinese people are a major market, and thus i think it would only make sense to have a platform that can handle android apps/development (aurora, and maybe hongmeng/oak OS). I think it's inevitable.
  19. It seems to be well fleshed out enough as an OS, but I would highly recommend people read up on their website https://sailfishos.org/ They seem to market it for government officials with confidential secrets, while also saying it is fully compatible with android apps. Seems interesting for Huawei, who want a good OS without having to restart their own app ecosystem (and thus still being competitive with Western handsets)
  20. Cough cough Edward Snowden cough Everyone is capable of spying, for some it's just not as highlighted (US gov)
  21. Definitely agree. Suddenly after news of alternate OS they want Huawei back because of 'security risks'. They expected Huawei to do nothing and they came back fighting. I bet you they'll (Google) lobby the US gov to remove or loosen up on the ban.
  22. According to reports, during troubling times for Huawei's mobile divisions, (throughout the allegations of hacking and Trump's presidential order to block US companies doing business with them) the company has successfully tested multiple new operating systems for a while now (as a kind of plan B) as an alternate to Android. Particularly it seems that they have carried out completed trials for Russian Telecom company 'Open Mobile Platform' 's new OS, as seen from source: ( https://www.rt.com/business/461583-huawei-russia-android-replace/ ) This OS is based on the relatively well known Android alternative from Finish company Jolla which was purchased by the 'OMP' who then sold a share to state telecom giant 'Rostelecom'. Source: (https://www.forbes.com/sites/zakdoffman/2019/06/13/huawei-testing-russias-aurora-os-as-complete-android-replacement-report-claims/#81214336875d) This however may bring up issues going international, as some (particularly in the West) may find it dubious joining a mobile platform, with some influence from a country, with lets just say 'troubled' politics, and questionable Internet freedom politics (Russian parliament voted to block multiple VPN's including Nord VPN, for more context, source: (https://www.pcmag.com/news/367489/russia-demands-10-major-vpns-censor-content-or-face-ban) This news highlights Huawei's need for another choice for their smart phone platform, as the United states becomes much more aggressive against the company (even though there is no tangible evidence against Huawei's 'spying'), as their mobile division sales plummet by 40% , (source: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/huawei-phone-sales-fall-us-china-trade-war-trump-tariffs-smartphones-a8961631.html) in uncertain times for CE0 Ren Zhengfei. Many have noted many Chinese manufacture's choice for Hong Meng OS/ Ark OS, but this seems to be an alternate choice for a more 'private', with apparently 'many more features' than Android Q would have in a handy-dandy, completely open source package: Source: (https://www.firstpost.com/tech/news-analysis/huawei-could-consider-russain-fork-of-sailfish-os-as-its-android-alternative-6819261.html) Whatever it turns out to be this new OS is gaining attention, and Huawei does seem pretty sure to consider (especially after Xi's business talks with Putin and the major St Petersburg Intentional Economic Forum), a new Russian OS could be seriously on the horizon, which would sure to help significantly develop their Software Engineering sectors for 'developing/industrializing/2nd World Country'.
  23. Good responses so far, but perhaps consider the fact, that much more electricity is needed when making paper straws (source: bit.ly/Straws2), and their processes produces much more carbon emissions.
