  1. I have Spectrum broadband, 100 Mbps down and 15 up. About two months ago I started noticing that my internet would cut out once in a while. At the time I attributed it to being on WiFi. Fast forward a month and I plug an ethernet cable into my PC for some gaming and I have these lag spikes that are inconsistent (sometimes three spikes in thirty minutes, sometimes nothing for hours, time of day doesn't seem to affect it). I asked the rest of the family who were on the network. My brother's PC is also wired in, and he says he also experiences lag spikes. My aunt says her phone sometimes won't send message over the internet for a moment or two or videos just stop loading on YouTube. I did a power cycle on modem, no dice. I factory reset my router (WRT 1200AC) and updated it's firmware, but the problem was still there. I called Spectrum and they sent a technician over who said that he only found 0.02% packet loss. Everything else was within normal margins. I explained the things that I did and he upgraded our modem to see if that was the issue. Didn't work. I started thinking it was the router at this point, so I borrowed a WRT 1900AC from a friend. I installed it in, updated the firmware, and I'm still having these issues. I've tried unplugging devices to see if bandwidth hogging was the problem, but even after I brought it down to just wired devices, the spikes still occur. I was thinking about just plugging directly into the modem, but I thought it was unnecessary, since the service (supposedly) was fine according to the tech. I've basically exhausted all my knowledge of networking and I have no idea what else to do. What could be the problem here, and if so, how can I fix it?
