  1. Update, plugged in an external monitor and can get picture just fine. Ugh, I had just bought a $140 replacement screen for this thing too. Now to get it back going, ill be in for another $450. (Stupid mistakes, I know its my fault) Thanks for the help everyone, I hope everyone has a better day than I did, lol.
  2. Just thought I was ok doing it with the plastic tool. Thought plastic wasn't conductive...
  3. Yes, left battery plugged in, I know bad move. Looked at another motherboard, around $450. Just checking to see if it was repairable or not.
  4. I have an Asus Q525U with a cracked screen. While using the plastic opening tool in the ifix it kit to get this connector off, something lit up for a half second and burned the board in the pics included. Do you think this is repairable or am I going to need another motherboard? I should add, it will power on but screen remains black.
  5. I found this but I'm not sure if it would have worked. It didnt list the model of my laptop, https://www.ebay.com/itm/5X-Trackpad-Touch-Flex-Ribbon-Cable-For-Asus-Y481C-W408L-K45VD-R454L-8pin-20cm/202436805158?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908103841%26meid%3D91181eb8e9b04e97b579baeb758d716b%26pid%3D100227%26rk%3D3%26rkt%3D11%26sd%3D254161613996%26itm%3D202436805158&_trksid=p2054502.c100227.m3827
  6. Yes, thank you! I actually only need the little ribbon cable that is on it but Ive got it ordered anyway. Thank you for your help!
  7. Can someone point me in the right direction? I have the Asus X555L laptop and when upgrading the HDD to an SSD I tore the small ribbon cable that goes to my trackpad and damaged it. Now the trackpad doesnt work and I think I just need a new cable. I cant seem to fin one available to buy online and was wondering if anybody has a good go-to place for very small things like this or am I just going to find one from a dead laptop? BTW, first post here, excited to be part of the forum. Let me know if I can give any more information that would be helpful. Thanks!!
