  1. Thanks for that, it really does not seem very fast. Even when opening up folders containing pictures on a fresh start up(only on the initial opening) it is not that quick. The Samsung SSD though performs insanely well.
  2. So I have a Seagate 2TB 3.5inch SSHD and did a performance benchmark on it using Samsung Magician and was pretty disappointed with the result. Surely it should be faster right? Did I install it incorrectly(maybe used the wrong SATA port on the Motherboard)? Or is this the general speed of this SSHD. I know SSHD's work better the more they are used as they cache frequently used files and store them in the flash memory so maybe a benchmark test isn't the best way to gauge their performance but 119mb/s read seems very low?
  3. Try AMD, I think they have a policy of shipping out a cheap CPU out to you to assist in this and you ship it back. I'm assuming they cover the shipping.
  4. Turns out BIOS is resetting its settings when being disconnected from the wall outlet. This includes turning off XMP, ultra boot etc even though they are saved to a brand new CMOS battery that I bought and installed today. I've been told that the BIOS is trying different RAM profiles for the RAM which is taking more than a minute on a pure cold start. After the initial cold boot, shutting down and booting up again only takes about 18 seconds. But I'm still stuck on why the saved settings disappear when disconnected from the wall outlet... Any ideas?
  5. Ohhh I think this is because the motherboard does not recognize the CPU so it cannot enter BIOS... You have a few options. Get a cpu AMD CPU(Ryzen 1000/2000 series) that is naively supported by your motherboard and update the BIOS as detailed on the Gigabyte website and then switch to the 3000 CPU. I think AMD can actually send you out a free CPU depending on where you live to assist in this and then you send it back. I had to go through this also(had a spare 2200G that I used before I installed the 3700X).
  6. You can't access the bios from desktop as far as I am aware. You have to use the Q-Flash function in bios itself and select "update bios" or "load bios". Heaps of quick videos on Youtube show you how to do it. What you have to be careful of is the order that you update the BIOS in as there is about 3-4 steps involved.
  7. I have the same motherboard paired with a Ryzen 3700x. Natively that motherboard does not support the Ryzen 3000 CPU line so you need to update the bios so it can support it. There are multiple steps required to bring the BIOS up to date in this regard. You cannot just download that latest one and be done with it unfortunately. You have to start off with update F31, then F40 and so on. There are some steps in between. It is all listed here: https://www.gigabyte.com/au/Motherboard/X470-AORUS-GAMING-5-WIFI-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios It would help if you have a laptop or spare computer so you can download this updates. Follow the instructions very carefully and use a USB for the updates rather than an internet connection through the BIOS because if the connection fails half way whilst updating, you will brick your motherboard.
  8. When I originally installed Windows 10 on the SSD, the SSD was fitted to the lower PCI slot which was 2.0 and wasn't reaching it's advertised speeds. I then fitted the SSD to the upper slot(3.0) and it now hits its advertised speeds. Could the motherboard be trying to access the 2.0 PCIe first instead of the 3.0 PCIe?
  9. I do have the SSHD SATA cable daisy chaining so it powers the RGB Fan hub also . Could this be a concern?
  10. Windows says I am upto date. I am running an SSHD for storage but Window's is installed on an SSD(no data cable needed). Are there any other cables I should check?
  11. Yes to both(Ultra Fast boot actually). I downloaded Windows 10 off the Microsoft Website and activated it afterwards.
  12. Thanks for the reply. I am running Windows 10 home, 10.0.18362, build 18362.
  13. Hey guys, I'm running Windows 10 with a Ryzen 3700x, 32GB DDR4 3,000mhz Ram(4 sticks), Gigabyte Aorus gaming 5 x470 motherboard(latest bios), Gigabyre 2070 GPU and Samsung 970 SSD. Ultra fast boot in bios enabled. On a regular shut down my boot time is about 16-17 seconds, in which it spends ALOT of that time with a black screen to get to the actual bios. However if I power the whole PC down from the actual wall, it takes well over a minute and 20 seconds to get to the log in screen. Is this normal due to the PC losing it's hibernation data on complete shut down? Seems unusually long considering my RAM and SSD. Any ideas? I do notice the RAM LED being red on the motherboard for a long time before the actual log in screen comes up so it could be RAM related?
  14. Thanks bro, will check it tonight. Hopefully it clears it. Apparently some programs use a Chromium based GUI(not sure what that is exactly) but it doesn't play well with Gsync so we shall see. Otherwise I will have to disable Gsync when not running games(which i rarely play anyway). Thanks again.
  15. Sadly this is still happening even though I am on the latest Nvidia driver Now I actually get the stutter throughout navigating through 3DS Max. Can you please elaborate on what you did to fix this?
  16. Thank you so much, I will try this when I get home. Thanks again!! Where can I go to see which GPU drivers are installed?
  17. Hey guys, I have an Acer predator XB271HU monitor connected to a Gigabyte 2070 RTX card via DP cable and have noticed that in some programs when I open a window to load a document or file the refresh rate tumbles from 144 all the way down to 30 and then goes back up again. I first noticed this because my mouse cursor would stutter noticeably for a few seconds! This is with Gsync on only. I have enabled V sync and that hasn't sorted out the issue either. It should be noted that these are not intensive programs and there isn't anything going on except for merely going to "open" or "save" in the File menu so it is extremely strange. Any help would be very much appreciated. Running a 3700x CPU with 32GB DDR4 3,000Mhz RAM with all programs on an SSD if that helps.
  18. Hey guys, I recently built a new PC(first time build) and installed a copy of Windows 10 onto it but noticed the boot times were in the 25 second mark from full shut down. It takes well over a minute and a half to boot if I unplugged the power supply from the wall and plug it back in and boot up the PC. I notice the speaker popping before the actual Gigabyte motherboard loading screen appears which leads me to think there is some time-out issue going on? . I have tried the following:-Updated the Auros bios to the latest version-Updated to latest Nvidia 2070 patch-Updated to latest Ryzen patch-tested the SSD and it matches the advertised specs-changed the order of the RAM sticks and enabled XMP(they hit 3,000mhz as advertised now)-played around with the virtual memory with no luck-updated Windows 10 to latest version -deleted the WDI folder-checked startup programs(only have 6 running currently as it is a fresh build)-played around with the 'fast/ultra fast boot' settings and made sure Windows Boot Manager is boot option 1(followed by SSD and then the SSHD). Even disabled the SSD and SSHD from boot priority list just in case. All this and I still get a black screen for a good 10-15 seconds before the mobo logo appears. I do notice the DRAM LED on my Mobo stays lit for the majority of the time until the Mobo load screen appears. My specs are Ryzen 3700x, Gigabyte 2070RTX, Gigabyte Auros Gaming 5, 32GB DDR4 2,933MHZ RAM. Windows 10 installed onto Samsung 970 Evo. Seagate SSHD for storage(nothing on there at the moment). Can someone please help me out, I am all out of ideas here. Is there something in my bios that is wrong? I have attached a picture of my bios screen. On the Boot override list it shows the SSHD in first place but surely this should not affect general booting? Any help would be very much appreciated!
  19. Still nothing sadly. I notice the DRAM LED being on for 6-7 seconds whilst the system boots up. Is that indicative of the RAM being a problem?>
  20. Ok so I managed to get the SSD speed up to what it is advertised at(I had it connected to the PCIe 2.0 slot instead of the 3.0 slot... the manual only specified this in another section). I have gotten the boot speed down to 20 seconds but there is still a black screen(before the motherboard logo screen) for a large majority of the time. What is worse is that when I turn the PC off from the remote controlled power socket and turn it back on, it takes over a full minute. I have updated the CPU driver, bios(although didn't mess around with any settings), SSD driver/firmware etc. What else could it be? Thanks again!
  21. Thanks so much for the fast and detailed reply. On further inspection I found out the my Samsung 970 EVO SSD is running as half speed. Is it possible I used the wrong PCI port for the SSD? Thanks again for the help, this is all very foreign to me at the moment!
  22. Hey guys, I recently built my first PC and am just trying to get past the teething issues. I have noticed my PC takes about 30 seconds for to reach the Windows user name entry screen after a full shut down/start up which to me seems quite long. However if I unplug the entire case from the power supply in the wall(I have a remote controlled power station that allows me to turn it off remotely) and start the PC back up it takes over a minute. When restarting however it is faster(about 20 seconds). My specs are: Ryzen 3700x, Gigabyte 2070 RTX, 32GB DDR4 RAM 3000MHZ, Samsung 970 EVO SSD(Windows is installed on this) and a 2TB Seagate SSHD. Motherboard is the Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 X470 with Wifi. I have turned off "Fast Start Up" on recommendation by some PC websites, enabled high performance mode and have checked my startup programs(I have 6 running so that is minimal) and I'm not sure what else I can do. Surely this has something to do with the motherboard/bios settings? I don't think it has to do with the X470 motherboard and the Ryzen 3700x having issues? Any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks heaps in advance!
