  1. Hi, I'm upgrading to a new computer and would like to give my old rig to my girlfriend. However it is behaving strangely. The computer seems to randomly crash, this does seem to happen more so when gaming or multitasking. I ran the cpu through a stress test and it did not crash. I ran the ram through windows memory scan software built into windows 10 and it didn't find anything. I ran the gpu through so stress test and nothing. I then removed 1 stick of ram and ran a benchmark, nothing. I also overclocked the system and tested in between each change in this order, cpu --> gpu -> ram (Turned XMP on). With an X.M.P. profile both sticks of memory work fine. With a slight cpu overclock 1 stick performs slightly better than the other in benchmarks. When both XMP on and CPU overclocked only 1 stick will run, the other will give me an overclock failed error. Do I need new ram or can a different component cause this? How do I diagnosis this? System runs are 33-45C or less when gaming 65-70C under load. Here is the system (The AIO is for the upcoming system using it on temp bases): PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU Intel - Core i7-4820K 3.7 GHz Quad-Core Processor CPU Cooler Thermaltake - Water 3.0 Ultimate 99 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $111.99 @ Amazon Motherboard Asus - Rampage IV Gene Micro ATX LGA2011 Motherboard Memory Corsair - Vengeance Pro 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR3-2133 Memory Storage PNY - CS900 120 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive $21.99 @ Amazon Storage Western Digital - Caviar Blue 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive $44.89 @ OutletPC Video Card Gigabyte - GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB Windforce OC Video Card $199.99 @ Amazon Case NZXT - Phantom (White) ATX Full Tower Case Power Supply Corsair - CXM 750 W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply $99.88 @ OutletPC Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $508.74 Mail-in rebates -$30.00 Total $478.74 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-02-26 15:42 EST-0500
  2. I was under the impression that the z390 boards were backwards compatible with the z370s. However, I only chose this board because of price and reviews. The z370 boards that were recommended are for some reason more expensive or around equal price but with less features. What board would you recommend for easy overclocking and good features.
  3. Thanks for any help I can get here. I would say I'm somewhere in between novice and intermediate when it comes to pc's but this is the first time I'm putting one together myself 100%. I did try and do some research before hand though. This will be used predominately for gaming, but I would like to be able to work on large Photoshop files, Blender and maybe some video editing down the line. I want to overclock my cpu to 5ghz, I want to overclock the ram to at least 3200ghz. I would like some RGB or at least the option to upgrade to it down the line. Is this build coherent? Thanks. 4. Hey, just joined because I had a question about ram; if I just want an extra 200mhz or so should I save myself 15$ and just overclock cheaper ram? Is it worth?
