Yes, maybe a little flippant, but the point is that Apple's short sighted, even ignorant implementation of this requirement will make it very much more of a P.I.T.A for many developers to support IOS, not a good move if you want to continue to encourage developers to support your ecosystem. But hey, when did Apple prefer intelligent decisions over a demand for rigid compliance?

It sounds bizarre, but I have to question the thought process behind Apple's latest dogmatic blunt instrument whereby developer accounts will be forced to use 2 factor authentication. Don't get me wrong, security is important, and 2 factor authentication is useful in many scenarios, I just question whether forcing it on a developer account, with limited options to authenticate is appropriate, consider a corporate developer, perhaps a small company a bit like us, we are a windows company, but require a Macbook Pro to test the occasional app we develop. This development might happen in house, by multiple people, or even freelancers, and not always on premises, 2 factor authentication just doesn't work for a fluid workforce using one central device and one developer id, the following thread says it all really... https://www.macrumors.com/2019/02/13/developers-two-factor-authentication-required/ So the question is this, if apple is potentially making it more difficult for many companies to create apps, will that be the beginning of the end of one of the primary driving forces behind Apple's success, namely the App store, probably not, but I bet it has a knock on effect.
