  1. I wanna say thanks for all of the info, and suggestions. I think that I'm gonna stick with my previous idea of dual booting Linux and Windows. Though I think that I'm going to see if I can do a super chopped version of Windows that can remove all the bloatware and whatnot using some of the Pro features. IE a mixture of Powershell and GPedit. Though in the process I also get to deal with Microsoft with my borked license, that is all the sudden "not activated". (Though that's not the reason why I wanna switch, more just a sidenote of not wanting to deal with Microsoft.) Though, I've actually done that before, where I've removed all of the bloatware, and it still has somehow found its way back onto my PC if anyone knows the reason why that happened.
  2. The primary game that isn't on there is League of Legends. Do you know if that runs half decently? I've seen a couple of installation methods when googling, but they're not "recent"
  3. Well, that site makes me feel like it's a little bit more promising. I'll probably just make a partition and dual boot my system to give it a shot.
  4. So I guess the consensus is that Linux still isn't there. I guess just crossing my fingers that something changes soon, as I despise Windows at this point.
  5. I'm looking to make the switch from Windows 10 to any recommended distro of Linux that is viable as a gaming platform. Though at the same time, I'm willing to wait if it isn't considered "viable" just yet. I know about Wine, but I'm not very familiar with actually using it. Though I also don't know if that's the route to go. I've tried looking around online, and so far I haven't been able to find a "recent" information dump. As the ones that I could find were nearing a year old. Overall I don't really know where to start, and I don't even know if now is the time to make the switch. I just can't get over the bloatware and the lack of ability to change/personalize the Windows experience. Thanks in advance!
  6. I mean, if you look up the exact model, you're able to find the dimensions. But based on a cursory look, yes. At least in terms of width, may take some sort of work to make sure that it can fit out the back. https://support.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02215285
  7. Well two reasons why I wouldn't want to download it in an "alternative" fashion: 1. I doubt I would be able to find a full fidelity 4k version 2. I'm trying my best to not download movies and such illegally.
  8. I was gifted a couple of blu-rays for Christmas, and they came with digital copies of the movies, but they're required to be redeemed on iTunes. Now, I would like to be able to have these movies without them being tied to iTunes since they could only be redeemed through that service. I don't use an iPhone or any Apple products, so I have 0 reason to bother with any of their systems. (I even had to make an account just to redeem the movies.) So far, I only seem to be able to find either paid ways to do it, or the use of a piece of software that hasn't been updated in years (Requiem). Though it may just come down to recording the movies themselves, but I don't want to do that because I want to be able to record them both in a lossless manner, and also maintain the proper audio channels. Even then, since one of the movies is "John Wick" I want to be able to keep their flashy subtitles that they have during the Russian speaking parts. The other being the new Bladerunner, which I definitely want in its full fidelity. I also want to delete iTunes as soon as I can, that application is actually cancer.
  9. All I know, is that OC'ing your memory isn't worth it lol. (For most situations) I mostly just want to know how to do it better because I'm running Ryzen, and Ryzen loves memory speeds. Having the debate to OC it, but at the same time... my system is stable and still pretty damn fast for my needs. EDIT: OC the memory that is.
  10. Thanks, I know how to OC pretty decently. But the thing that I know the least about is definitely RAM. It's really the last thing that I need/want to know more about in terms of actual PC hardware. Just hard to find good info that isn't already stuffed full of information that assumes that you already really know what's going on.
  11. Cool, thanks, but any idea as to what the theoretical max is where you would still gains from OC'ing? Or is that so far off that it doesn't even matter to consider.
  12. Question, because I end up seeing a lot of places that the "official" rating that DDR4 maxes out at something like 4200. Why is it that we're able to get past that point? Is it just like OC'ing anything else where it'll go until it maxes out the bandwidth available? and if so, what would the highest rating be that we would still see results from an OC. (at least on DDR4)
