  1. It does seem more reasonable being as it's nearly $200 cheaper than the 2700. In terms of the mobo and RAM, those ones are good?
  2. I'm in California and the budget is decent, trying to stay under 500 though. Went through a few PC builds: Ryzen 5: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor $164.99 @ Amazon Motherboard MSI - B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard $114.99 @ B&H Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $109.89 @ OutletPC Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $389.87 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-02-20 00:53 EST-0500 Ryzen 7: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU AMD - Ryzen 7 2700X 3.7 GHz 8-Core Processor $308.99 @ Amazon Motherboard MSI - B450 TOMAHAWK ATX AM4 Motherboard $114.99 @ B&H Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $109.89 @ OutletPC Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $533.87 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-02-20 00:53 EST-0500 And an Intel i7: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor $359.99 @ Amazon Motherboard MSI - Z370-A PRO ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $109.99 @ Amazon Memory Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $109.89 @ OutletPC Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total $579.87 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-02-20 00:54 EST-0500
  3. AMD 8350 with a GTX 970 on a MSI 970 Gaming motherboard with 8GB RAM. Playing a few AAA titles such as AC: Origins, Far Cry 5, The Division and a host of other older titles (which aren't the performance problems). I'm interested in so many games coming out but I know aren't gonna run consistent 60fps.
  4. Okay so I feared upgrading the CPU would entail also upgrading the motherboard, but the RAM as well? In terms of motherboards, would one particular one be better or pretty much any good rated boards that support the AM4 socket?
  5. I am attempting to upgrade my system to have better performance in modern games (consistent ~60 fps). My current setup is running with a AMD 8350 CPU and a GTX 970 GPU. My instinct and research tell me it may be the CPU I should be upgrading, not my GPU, but I am not sure. I know some games are more CPU heavy and some are more GPU heavy. Currently, Assassins Creed: Origins hardly even rises above 30-40 fps and I've been told that it is a CPU heavy game. Does anyone have any suggestions about which part I should upgrade and a reasonable suggestion to upgrade to? Thanks in advance
