  1. The thread mentions a shortcut without an icon, I do not have that on my desktop. I'll try a clean install which I'm sure will fix the issue. Thanks for the help.
  2. I should report that Malwarebytes didn't find any major problems. I have an HDD installed in my PC, would reinstalling Windows on my SSD have no impact on the files on the HDD?
  3. I'll try Malwarebytes. I have about 80 GB free on my SSD. Is there a way for me to reinstall Windows without losing my files?
  4. I have Avast and it hasn't detected anything. I'd rather not reinstall windows as I do not wish to lose any files. Is there an alternative?
  5. I did not reinstall Windows after upgrading, the problem has been present since before I upgraded as well.
  6. For about a few months now I've noticed that my PC randomly stutters for a second every once in a while. Its especially noticeable when watching videos as the video randomly stutters and is stuttering for about a second, audio is unaffected during this time. I downloaded Bitsum's project lasso to try and remedy the issue and I noticed the main culprit to be explorer.exe which every once in a while, seemingly randomly spikes my CPU usage enough for it to lag everything. I recently upgraded my PC (CPU, ram, mobo) and I noticed no change in the problem so my best guess is that its a windows 10 problem. I'd greatly appreciate any help with this issue as it has been driving me crazy for months. My specs: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 16 GB ripjaws DDR4 3200Mhz ram Nvidia GTX 1660 Ti 6GB Running windows on 256gb Crucial SSD Using 1TB hardrive
  7. I lessened the annoyance by tuning the fan curve in bios to be constant below 65 °C (since that's as high as I've seen it to false report) at about 30% fan speed, so if I do anything that actually pushes the temperature above 60°C the fans rev up as they should, meanwhile they stay constant until then. It hasn't fixed the problems as I can still hear them rev up every 5 seconds or so but they're at least not as loud.
  8. What's odd is that the cpu temps seem to spike (reportedly) all the way up to 60 °C for about 1 second then drop back down immediately to about 40 °C and I think this is what causes the fans to rev up for a moment to address the supposed high temperature and then rev back down. It's honestly distracting and somewhat worrying.
  9. Update: I have temporarily addressed the issue by adjusting the fan curve in bios to keep at 30% speed constant while under 60 °C, this has resolved the random ramping up but while in Windows all utilities still report wrong and inconsistent temperature. Is this a Windows issue, since while in bios the temperature is read normally?
  10. I've recently built an AMD Ryzen 5 3600x system with an Msi B450 Tomahawk max and the first thing I've noticed since powering it on is that the fans ramp up momentarily before posting, which I though was fine. After getting into Windows however, i get an unusual cpu fan revving pattern where the fans rev up for a moment then rev back down and this loops as long as the system is idling. I've also noticed that the temperature on Ryzen master occasionally jumps from 37°C to 44 or 50 °C while idling. It only jumps for about a second then drops back down to 37 °C. I checked the motherboard bios and the temperature reading there was normal at about 30 °C and not behaving oddly. I'm looking for help on here since the random jumps in fan speed is really jarring especially when I'm not taxing the system at all. I'm worried there might be something wrong with the board's sensors but so far I get the problem only while booted into windows, while idling in bios it behaves normally. I should also mention I'm using the AMD Ryzen power profile, no overclock or over voltage, A-XMP on ram. Any help is appreciated.
  11. All of them were using a better processor but would that amount to such big of a difference that i couldn't run anything past low?
  12. It sets cod at medium but that doesn't run at 60fps, and Apex legends gets set to the lowest possible.
  13. CPU: Core i5 5690 GPU: Gigabyte GTX970 g1 PSU: Corsair CX650 MOBO: Asrock z97 RAM: 2x8gb HyperX Fury ddr3
  14. I should mention, I'm not running overclocked.
  15. im running heaven right now and my temps peaked at 72 then the fans sped up to 70% and now its not budging from 70c
