  1. Now as far as GPUs, the 1660ti vs the 1070, is 6GB vram okay vs 8GB vram in VR? I don't really know how much of a difference at this range is. Edit: After some researching, it looks like it will only(?) affect performance on high/ultra settings in some games. So 1660ti it is then.
  2. Thanks for that table, also, is the i5-8400 good enough though? I can still try and get the i7-8700. It's just that I'd rather use the 8400 for now and upgrade to the 8700 or higher later on.
  3. I was thinking of getting the Vive, but I saw knuckles EV3 and thought maybe they would be bundled with it in the future, or I'd just get the vive now and buy the controllers separately
  4. Hey so I'm trying upgrade my pc for VR gaming, two games like VRChat and BeatSaber as my goal for now. I think I have got a good build but I want to make sure that I'm not messing anything up. So I'm basically getting a new pc aside from the case, but if my mobo doesn't fit (which it looks like it can) then I'll get a new case. I'm aiming for 90 FPS for at least on all low settings, I'd prefer up to medium graphics though. Anyway here is what I'm getting: MOBO: Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI ATX (My current mobo is micro-atx, and it looks like my case has room for an atx) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813145091&ignorebbr=1 GPU: GTX 1070 8GB (Could I get some advice as to where the best place is to get a cheaper one? Or something better?) https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126112&ignorebbr=1 CPU: i5-8400 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117824&ignorebbr=1 RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ 2x8 GB DDR4 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232498&ignorebbr=1 SSD: Crucial P1 1TB M.2 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820156199&ignorebbr=1 PSU: Corsair TX-M Series TX650M https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139207&ignorebbr=1 So, watcha think?
  5. Alright, so I looked at the list, I had a PSU picked out beforehand, and it looks like it's in the tier C list. CORSAIR CX-M Series CX650M https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16817139148 Just making sure, but it is indeed in the C tier list right @fasauceome?
  6. Hold up, I just looked and it's actually 450W. The model # is IP-S450CQ2-0 G and I don't know what you mean by "make". If this helps then it is a Cybertron PC
  7. Hey so I am planning to upgrade to a VR gaming PC, but I am getting the graphics card first and then the rest later on. I am wondering if my current setup is able to handle the GPU I'm getting. Current setup: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78lmt-usb3 GPU: AMD Radeon R7 260x, 2GB PCU: AMD Fx-6300, six-core RAM: 8BG, DDR3, one stick PSU: 500W (Actually it's 450W, dunno why I wrote 500W) HDD: 1TB Getting: GPU: GeForce GTX 1070 https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814126112&ignorebbr=1 I know that I will need a better mobo and cpu so that's fine, same with ram. Is my PSU good enough for this GPU upgrade? If it isn't then I can get a 650 W one along with it.
  8. Thank you all for the information, I realized that my mobo needs replaced in order to have better cpus, and now to make a new plan. Any suggestions as to what I should look for in an ATX or micro-ATX mobo? Or does it not really matter besides cpu compatibility
  9. So are FX cpu's not that great? I'm fine with switching to an Intel cpu. Maestro suggested an i5 non k, but I'm not exactly sure which one that is. Could you also tell me what kind of cpu I should get? For the gpu, would a 1080 be acceptable? or would I need something slightly better? My budget can be increased further if need be, I should have worded that better.
  10. What would you suggest for the PCU and GPU then? I don't know how much better they need to be
  11. So I've been obsessed over wanting to play VR games, and that made me finally learn what each PC part does and how to tell how good something is. I've made a list of parts that I am going to upgrade to and I wanted to make sure on here that everything I found is okay for VR gaming. I'm not worried about super high end graphic quality, I'm okay with like medium-high graphics and great performance, 90 FPS for VR right? My budget for parts is $400-650 US. I'll start with the specs I've currently got: Cybertron PC (sorry I can't find the name of it, they also stopped selling it on amazon) Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-78lmt-usb3 GPU: AMD Radeon R7 260x, 2GB PCU: AMD Fx-6300, six-core RAM: 8BG, DDR3, one stick PSU: 500W HDD: 1TB Don't really need a good monitor for VR right? Here's mine just in case though: LG 27MP59G-P 27-Inch https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XFGCKL6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 And here's what I'm upgrading to (from what I found, feel free to suggest things that might work better with my setup): GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060, 6GB https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814500454&ignorebbr=1 RAM: 16GB, DDR3, two sticks https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231489&ignorebbr=1 SSD: 1TB PSU: Corsair 650W https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139148&ignorebbr=1 And if I need to upgrade my processor: PCU: AMD FX-8350, eight-core https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284&ignorebbr=1 Now with that out of the way, will this be good for VR? I'm not entirely sure how much wattage on a PSU I need with the new parts so I thought 650W would be good.
