  1. Agreed, the 300 Watt PSU is simply for testing to see if this will even work and at what voltages, plus the PSU has a AC in and out so that's kinda cool! I'll have to upload some pictures when I get this working or at some sort of functional stage.
  2. Quick update, after having done a once over of the PCIE riser card/ eGPU card I found a bent and corroded pin in the PCIE x16 slot and I'll be ordering a new card to hopefully solve the problem.
  3. So I recently decided to try using an eGPU on my laptop just for fun but I've run into a strange problem. (I built my own setup out of parts I had) My Gigabyte RX580 (which is on the supported cards list) powers down the minute I plug in a thunderbolt cable, or any USB cable for that matter. All lights and fans totally power down. As far as hardware I'm using a generic pcie eGPU card from ebay or something, (I don't know because it came attached to my card when I bought it) my RX580 8gb, a 2018 version of the HP OMEN 15T, (dc0010nr) an old PSU from the 80's or 90's running at 300 Watts, (Which I thought would be more than enough) and an Amazon basics thunderbolt cable which I just bought. Also the RX580 drivers won't install along side my GTX1050ti drivers and seem to delete themselves off my machine after a little while, but leave the program name and shortcut. Some things I've tried are different cables, different PSUs and I know all the power cables are plugged in correctly to the GPU and eGPU card. I pulled the GPU from a working machine for testing to deiced whether I wanted to buy one for my laptop or not. Any thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  4. I currently have the drive that came in this machine when I bought it, which is a samsung PM961. Also thank you for your reply!
  5. Hello there everyone! I'm looking at upgrading my NVME m.2 B key 128 SSD in my HP OMEN dc0010nr laptop and I was wondering if I could use an Adata XPG SX8100. My main concern is that the new drive will move faster than my CPU and cause problems transferring data or running the OS that it needs to run. Any input is much appreciated and thank you in advanced, you're all awesome!
  6. Well, oddly enough I can't find the link anymore and apparently I didn't need to use it anyway? It's all very strange. Thanks for the help! I'm still curious about the problem though and I'd love to see it get a solve!
  7. So I tried to open a link for some school stuff and I was greeted by a great big firewall from both my browser and my AV. I looked it up and found a bunch of info about an AV glitch or something so I was wondering if anyone here can help. Please respond as quickly as you can I have an assignment riding on this! I attached a photo to this of the error, the browser said the same thing.
  8. So I've got some old programs and drivers for machines dating back to Windows 3.1 era and I was wondering if there was a large website with old software, service packs and stuff that anyone knows of so I can upload these old drivers and the like. I've had a lot of trouble with drivers and stuff in the past, particularly with Windows 10 and thought it might do some good here in the PC community.
  9. A friend of mine is looking at a Sintique pro 24 inch and wants to know what kind of graphics card she should get to go alone with her new PC. Any thoughts?
