  1. Hi all, just thought I would update this thread. I bought a new Graphics card and now the monitor has no problem running AAA games no problem at 3440x1440. So it was the second hand Vega 64 afterall. I about to use all my old parts with a big hard drive to make a media hub/back-up gaming station. With the Vega in it, it should be able to live out its days in that comfortably.
  2. So here the picture. Indeed the old 5000. Don't know if it is worth asking for it or not...
  3. I am looking for a new case, in the high end(ish) range. I am very unsatisfied with the cable management of my current cheap Aigo case and the general boxy and cheap aesthetics. I would like to also mount my GPU vertically. My general colour scheme are gunmetal black and with red accents. RGB for me is a nice to have but not necessary. I already have 3 cases that I am looking at 1. Cooler Master SL600M Pro Really like the design Easy vertical GPU (with good side panel clearance) Con Tight fit for my GPU Cable Management is average Personally don't like the PSU placement 2. Phanteks Evolv X Pro Like the over all looks Good Cable management Seems to be a well thought out case Con Thermals apparently not the best SSD mounting issues 3. Cooler Master H500M (Mesh) Pro Great thermals Good cable management Overall well thought out case Con Looks are Meh So these are the impressions I got from watching and reading reviews. I am also still keeping the NZXT H700i in mind, this was the original case I saw that made me crave having a new case, although I feel that while it looks good in the pictures I am not sure it will hold up during my build. My choice basically comes down to 1. Love the looks but not the inside (SL600M) 2. The compromise looks and internals (Evolo X) 3. Love the internals but not excited by externals (H500M). i would very much appreciate your input. Do you agree with my evaluations? Do you have one of these cases and what is your experience? Any other cases I should be considering? Am I missing anything on my evaluations that could tip opinions one way or the other?
  4. I'm game to give it a try . Thanks for your guys input, I might try see if I can get it for free, as its not being used. In which case I would be glad to play around with it. Found this with some details on the card https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/quadro-5000.c897
  5. Ok, as I was beginning to suspect and is totally in line with what I have come to expect with this companies hardware. Never the less, would have been a nice little Easter egg. Thanks foe the benchmark website tho
  6. Most like the first one, with the silver. Only got to look at it from the top of the tower, showing the name on the right, upward facing side of the PCB. Also, the PCB had a very thick layer of dust on it. Therefore, it is probably the nearly 10 year old 5000 and that's why it's not being used.
  7. Just realized should have done a proper search of the card before posting. This is the issue when not living with google. I realize that the card is nothing special any more, probably nothing to get excited about. But still anything I could do with it that could be interesting?
  8. My work involves industrial design/engineering, so we have a few high powered Quadro stations for 3D editing lying around. My boss recently bough a new company that actually makes Prototypes. The place was terribly under managed and in shambles. Part of my current job is to get the new place back to good running order and oversee all the projects there. Even after 4 Months of sorting things out there is still a lot of old machinery lying around. Today, I sat at a random desk doing my work, when, as I peered through the side panel air vents of one of the desktop towers next to me, I noticed what looked like a silvery shroud that reminded me of the Radon Vega (64 and even VII). I knew it was definitely non of those but realizing that we are a design studio, there could be the possibility that it was an interesting graphics card. As I have just rejoined the PC master race, my interest was stirred! Even more so when i realized that the machine had no leads attached to it other than a DVI cable. So, I decided to have a look under the hood, finding a Quadro sign and the number 5000, unfortunately I didn't see much more during my brief glimpse into the machine as I was immediately called to a meeting. However, further research into the Quadro has revealed that there are different versions of the 5000, so not actually sure what we got here. The card is definitely a few years old as it has a good layer of dust on it. Having sat on this all afternoon I regret not having a better second look, but I will be returning to the office on Wednesday when I can take a few pictures, that should reveal some more details. As I said I am in the early stages of returning back to the PC world and am in a very experimental mood. I have been thinking about this card all day, sitting there literally gathering dust. It is very much within my possibility to ask for this card to take home to my private system for some time. So here is the actual purpose of this post: Should I bring this card back and run it though its paces? Is this actually a good find? If you believe it would be interesting for me to look at, what are some interesting things I could do with it? I realize it is not a gaming card, but I am sure there are some interesting things that can be done with it, if not just to use for 3D modelling and rendering.
  9. Dabbled with OCing my CPU this weekend. Seems to be a respectable R52600X score, so thought I would post (although I am sure that people with Ryzen 5 probably don't tend to post here). Actually, just got my R7 2700X and ROG Crosshair VII, TOTAY!!! But, while I am very excited to get going on them, I wouldn't mind learning some more of the basics with my current system (plea to the masters of the game for some advice). Anyone got a good comprehensive OCing library/website/blog/scroll/cave painting they could recommend? My aim is to have some kind of knowledge of the hardware architecture as well as the levers to pull to squeeze every screaming ounce of power out of my system. Any help & feedback is very welcome.
  10. Hey guys thanks very much for your support. I'm sorry for not responding sooner. Unfortunately, the RMA will be difficult. Bought at such discount that it will not be possible, Guess now I know why it was so discounted. Also being in China makes arguing with the retailer all that harder. Will have to live with it and the lower resolution is good enough, just more is better. @AcoreusFor now I am just dipping my feet into the OC ocean. Hoping I will get hooked and start experimenting with pushing the limits. What I mean is that while water cooling will be and option in the future, for now its just pumping a whole load of air through the tower with 6 fans in a fairly cold cellar. Any way any points in a good direction will be apricated.
  11. @Acoreus shit man you had me so excited about turning off freesync, but no dice. Thanks though. So you guys are also Vega Boys *Linus style eyebrow raise*, I want to start pushing mine to its limits, see how much i can squeeze out of it, any tips here are also welcome. @sky_shark_101 oh that process, that is still an option. Will be an interesting conversation. (Especially as I will not be able to do it in a language i know) Back to the monitor: I beginning to think me cheeping out on my screen here, might be the issue. ... is it not able to draw enough power? this warrants a deeper investigation... will report back, but its going to have to wait a couple of days. Any further suggestions are welcome
  12. Yes, no adapters strait from display port on my graphics card to the monitor. And i tried different cable and ports, thanks for the suggestion. The machine is actually pretty new. And I only got the NVMe HDD last week. So I did a clean install nearly exactly a week ago, so there shouldn't be any driver conflicts. ...RMA process?
  13. Thanks for your your reply. I tried all of your suggestions and with every step the issues persisted. My Power supply is the Crosair AX860i. I actually just changed to it from a 650W cheaper Chinese brand because i want to start overclocking, and was told having a good PSU is the heart of the PC
  14. Hi, hope someone can help me understand. I just got myself a low end ultra wide 3440x1440 100 Hz monitor (HKC C340), I was excited to be able to play games with wider viewing angle. My best game at the moment, Battlefield V started up well enough but soon into it, the screen goes black then a second later the DP input sign comes on in the top right corner and then the game comes back. About 10 seconds later it all repeats. If i then reduce the resolution to 2560x1440 @ 60hz everything is fine. to double check, I downloaded the demo of Shadow of the Tomb Raider and at 3440x1440 it will not even give me a picture (but i can hear the sound and use keyboard to navigate to EXIT button). Here I had to go down to 1920 x 1200 before i could play the game. My set up: Ryzen 5 2600x ASRock B450 Pro PowerColor RedDevil Vega 64 16GB (2x8)HyperX Predator 3600 DDR4 RGB AX860i Crosair PSU Samsung 970 Pro NVMe 500GB (System) Samsung 860 RVO M.2 Sata (Games) Seagate Barracuda Optical 3T (Dump Drive) As I believe my system to be 4k capable i thought all this should not be an issue. So, what is actually happening? Is it my Graphics Cars? The monitor? or even a software issue? What is it that I am not getting? All your advice is appreciated, thanks.
