  1. My old MSI rx580 could run esports titles like fortnite and overwatch at 4k 60, and at the time this was paired with an i5 7600k. It struggled to do it and it was maxed out on load, but it was impressive for what I paid for it.
  2. Artic Silver 5 is non conductive, so it should be fine. Apply liberally, remember a GPU die is a lot larger than a CPU die. An X from corner to corner with dots in-between the lines seems to work well for GPU paste application. Also make sure your heatsink fins are clean, and you have good case airflow.
  3. The 2060 performs closer to a 1070ti in most benchmarks and games. Yes the 1070 has more vram but a select few games use that much vram at settings a 1070 can handle.
  4. Really wish I could buy one of these. I was holding out for it only to see it's only available to EVGA Associates.
  5. Have you checked for dust build up lately? Even if it's in a case with dust filter you can get crazy build up after a couple of years in between the radiator fins. This is easily fixed with a can of compressed air. After making sure it's clean re-apply a high quality thermal paste like Thermal Grizzly. That cooler should be plenty enough for that CPU unless it has some crazy overclock on it.
  6. A 1050ti will work fine, VR doubles frames down to 45 fps to keep the headset at 90fps. Oculus was the first to use this rendering method, but now all headsets do it. I've personally used an Acer WMR headset on an Acer Nitro 5 with a 1050ti and it worked great, granted the fans on the thing were SCREAMING, lol. Will it be 100 percent max detail? Probably not, but when I tried it, it seemed fine, maybe a bit less detail compared to my Samsung Odyssey+ on a 1080ti. VR frame doubling tech article Also, here is an active adapter that should work well for your needs. StarTech active HDMI adapter (newegg)
  7. Ehh unless your super confident in your abilities, I'd avoid using liquid metal. Pretty easy to mess up your hardware. Take the cooler back off, and re-apply paste in an X pattern with dots in between the lines. Then, re-seat the cooler taking extra care to put it back on straight and level and torque all of the screws evenly, or as evenly as you can using a screwdriver. This sounds like a mounting/paste issue to me, unless you are pushing the card past its factory clocks using a program like Afterburner and haven't adjusted the fan curve to accommodate.
  8. A 1660ti would be a great upgrade for a 1060 3g. It performs on par with a 1070.
  9. I was more talking like used on eBay. I picked my card up for under 600 bucks, that seems to be about the going rate for most cards still if not slightly over for more desirable models. I got lucky though because mine came with a factory warranty, not all eBay sales work out that way. That being said new PC hardware if you can afford it is always objectively better, IMO. The 2080 is a great performer, it will blow your 980ti out of the water.
  10. A quick Google search for GPU support bracket found me this. If you don't like this style there are many others available. Amazon link
  11. If both are the same price I would say 1070 for more vram as they perform about the same otherwise.
  12. 1660ti is perfect for 1080p 60hz maxed out most games. It will also do 1440p on high/ultra at most games at or above 60hz. (My father just bought the gigabyte dual fan one and is using it on a 75hz freesync monitor, it's a lot quieter and better performing than his old sapphire rx480) That being said, a 2060 will get you about 15-20 percent more performance vs a 1660ti and will keep you at a higher framerate on a 144hz 1440p monitor. Any of the above cards will work fine for 1080p 60, but depending on how high of a refresh rate 1440p monitor you are considering for the future, you may want to look at the 2060 over the 1660ti.
  13. If you are talking aftermarket, the best air cooler/ PCB combo on a commonly available (not counting Galax HOF and EVGA Kingpin) 1080ti is the ROG Strix. That being said, EVGA SC, FTW3, Gigabyte Aurous, MSI Gaming X and Gaming X Trio are all great PCBs with great performing coolers. If you're buying new, it makes more sense to get a 2080. I personally like a beefier cooler because they're quieter (again higher end cards from MSI, EVGA, Gigabyte and Asus) but others will tell you just to buy whatever is on sale. Just stay away from blower style cards as they are loud and hot.
  14. I did and it works great! *knocks on wood*
  15. 1080ti for sure. A 2060 is about on par performance wise with a 1070ti but with less vram. And you're not gonna be doing any kind of usable ray tracing anytime soon on a 2060, 2080ti just now manages over 60fps at 1440p in bf5 with rtx on.
