  1. I recently built a dirt cheap budget build for my buddy to get him in to PC gaming, i went with the fx 8350 100% for the fact that it met the minimum requirements for BFV and was $100 CDN. I am actually pretty blown away by the results we got with battlefield 5. The system is as follows; FX 8350, ASUS M5A78L-M, 12gb G. Skill DDR3, Zotac GTX 1050 ti 4gb, Teamlite 240gb SSD, EVGA 450 BT PSU. With some tweaking, but not over clocking, we have it running at 60fps consistently with no lag on 1920x1080 60hz, high graphic settings at 90% resolution in 64 player maps. I did not think we would see that. Bottom line, I'm impressed. To your point, is it worth it in 2018 (now 2019)? It's a yes and no answer and depends on the application of your PC. It's old technology, it's a DDR3 system, you're not going to be able to utilize things like NVME. If that doesn't matter to you, then yes, if you can find one on sale I personally think it's worth it. If you're like my friend who just wanted to play battlefield 5, and play it smoothly, with his PC friends, go for it.
  2. I built a shoe string budget gaming build for a friend who wanted to get in to PC gaming. The goal was to build a PC that could play BFV for as little money as possible. I would say the build was a success, however, i would like to increase FPS if possible in BFV. Would a GTX 1060 achieve better FPS over the GTX 1050 that is currently installed, given the capability (or lack there of) of the FX 8350 CPU? Currently with some system tweaking I'm getting 60-65 FPS on low/medium custom settings in maps with 64 players and 70-80 even up to 90 at times using the same settings on maps with 16 players. I found a good deal on a 1060, just wondering if its worth the investment. Here are the hardware specs: FX 8350 black edition (not over clocked) ASUS 5A78L-M mobo 12gb G. Skill DDR3 240gb SATA SSD Zotac GTX 1050 ti 4gb 450w EVGA BT psu
  3. Haven't built this one yet juicy cube. I'm debating at the moment between an i3 8100 and an AMD FX 8350, solely due to price and compatability with DDR3 ram that I already have. Build cost would be $372 CAD with tax if I went the FX route. The goal is to use some of my spare parts to make an entry level gaming rig. I'd like for BFV to be playable at minimal cost for myself. It's more of a budgeted challenge build than anything else haha. Thoughts on BFV on an FX 8350?
  4. I just completed a build and have some older parts kicking around. I'm thinking about building a budget i3-8100 gaming build. First and foremost, I'd like to do this for the enjoyment of building PC's, but ultimately i would be selling it. what is my realistic sale price in Canadian dollars? Including tax and shipping my cost would be $452 Canadian. I'm not looking to get rich here, just want to know what to expect for resale. Here's the would be specs: Intel i3-8100 G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 2666 EVGA 450 BT PSU Zotac GTX 1050 Ti 4gb DIYPC MA01-R Black SECC MicroATX MSI H310M PRO-VD LGA 1151 (300 Series) Intel H310 SATA 6Gb/s Micro ATX Intel Motherboard 2TB Seagate Barracuda HDD
