  1. I don't know if this is on LMG's radar or if it would even fit, but a collab with Edison Motors could be cool. They are a Canadian company making electric trucks powered by onboard generators, much like some trains work. What made me think of this was lately they have launched an event/contest for Canadian schools (though spreading to the US as well) where they provide everything they need (electric motors etc) for teams to build electric vehicles. A video from the car review team would be interesting, but now with the school event, there might be opportunity for much more. tiktok website
  2. Was throwing away old supplies at my company and found several OEM product keys to MS-DOS. they are still shrink wrapped but they keys are visible from the outside so not sure if already used. Is there any use for them, or just toss?
  3. I recently got a prebuilt and things were a little off from the description. I know there are supply issues so wanted to make sure there were no issues as I don't know all the nitty-grity. Came with: TUF GAMING X570-PLUS (WI-FI); AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-Core Processor (architecture: x64; 3600 MHz); 32 GB (2x 16gb) Samsung 3200 - said mem came with heat spreader but just the bare sticks - is that an issue? ADATA FALCON (476.9 GB) - seen mixed reviews on it NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - from Nvidia, not 3rd party CM MasterLiquid ML240L + MasterFans also a 850W ATX plus gold power supply, cpu water cooling and some extra fans as well was just over $2000 before taxes - I think I could and done it better before the current supply issues (I built my last one), but just wanted a second opinion. now I am just waiting on a good deal for a decent monitor :) Thanks
  4. In the US. no real preference on those. for travel so decent battery, but understand not going to be gaming much with out power outlet. maybe a 15 inch display
  5. To clarify, this would not be a primary computer, only something used on business trips. Games, such as the mentioned POE, would only need to be playable. Hopefully that makes a difference
  6. I am looking for recommendations for a sub $400 laptop used for work and light gaming (hopefully able to play something like POE). Looks like you can get at least 8gb w/ 256gb ssd, but I am not that familiar with lower end cpu/gpu's One thing I did see on here was a recommendation to wait a few months until AMD 4000 series comes out in a few months Any thoughts/recommendations? thanks
  7. A friend of time is building their system and canablizing some parts from their old computer. they are re-using this PSU: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kz7CmG/evga-power-supply-210gq0650 and this new GPU: https://www.microcenter.com/product/611296/gigabyte-windforce-oc-3x-geforce-rtx-2070-super-overclocked-triple-fan-8gb-gddr6-pcie-video-card but cant find the power cables for it. it says the gpu uses 1 8-pin and 1 6-pin connector does anyone know some decent replacement cable he could get, everything i seem to be finding is just adapters, etc. Thanks
  8. is the stock cooler really enough? yeah thats what i am trying to convince him of, was hoping to just get a good idea of what to look here
  9. So spoke with nephew and he wants ray tracing, with feedback this is what I am currently looking at: PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($194.79 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: be quiet! 10. So pcpartpicker has the warning about the possibility of needing to update the bios. I heard about this with AMD, is it still a concern? I am not sure my nephew would be able to do this on his own.
  11. So I didn't initially put it in the main post but his max is around $1400, so my build was coming in on the low side. Given that, what would you recommend to bump it up a little bit?
  12. So it is a 60hz gaming setup right now, but he said he will be upgrading the monitors in the future so some stretch will be needed. I will look into the 5700 sapphire and the memory good find on that ssd too! Thanks
  13. So my nephew is looking to replace his first build. Neither of use are that knowledgeable about hardware (despite Linus's best efforts) and were hoping for some feedback on a possible build. PCPartPicker Part List CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6 GHz 6-Core Processor ($194.79 @ OutletPC) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($29.89 @ OutletPC) Motherboard: MSI X570-A PRO ATX AM4 Motherboard ($149.89 @ OutletPC) Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3600 Memory ($74.99 @ Newegg) Storage: Intel 660p Series 1.02 TB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive ($94.00 @ Walmart) Storage: Seagate Barracuda 3 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($67.38 @ OutletPC) Video Card: Gigabyte Radeon RX 5700 XT 8 GB GAMING OC Video Card ($418.99 @ SuperBiiz) Case: Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower Case ($89.99 @ Walmart) Power Supply: EVGA 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-modular ATX Power Supply ($74.99 @ Newegg) Total: $1194.91 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-10-30 19:17 EDT-0400 His max price is around $1400, so we can bump things up slightly if there are any ideas He initially wanted the i5-6600k, but I think the 3600 beats it and is cheaper anyways, would an upgrade to 3600x or something else be worth it? The cooler I use, any feedback on sizing or better options ( I doubt he will be overclocking) I choose the motherboard for the rough price point and its support for 3600 memory He needs lots of space so I went with the 1TB 660p instead of the 970 evo and included a 3TB HD The video card seems to be a great options given what I have read on this forum, though is the 2070 super for a bit more better/worth it? such as this one https://pcpartpicker.com/product/3sJmP6/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2070-super-8-gb-video-card-900-1g180-2515-000 He doesn't need a keyboard/mouse but may upgrade to a better monitor in the future as he does a lot of gaming and I believe he only has a regular 60hz monitor now, so possible future recommendations for that might be useful. Thank your for your feedback.
