    What do you think instead of a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 TI instead? 2080 seems a bit overkill or expensive? I'd like to knock off a few hundred dollars off the price. I could also pay the same same price for the CPU and go for a xeon processor a couple generations back.

    o.k. then let me clarify my question and open it up in light of this new information: only the following ports are acceptable and are needed: usb3 or usb3, hdmi, display port ports (usb c/thunderbolt 3 are a nice to have). an unlocked bios or the ability to unlock the bios would be strongly preferable. Motherboard layout and non-modular psu cables and connectors do not make too much of a difference at this point as long as I can get good price per performance.

    I have no desire to build it myself, however I want a mid-range pre-built because it could conceivably give me the option of upgrading the components myself in the future.

    Hello all, I am looking to invest in a mid-range Gaming PC. I am looking to get a Tower. I do not care about how it looks, I just need to run games well. I also do not care if it has great lightening or not. I plan to decorate it with apple and swift stickers in order to troll other PC Gamers in my local community. What I need it to do is run Tomb Raider at at least 50 fps at default settings using hdmi with a standard HD monitor. I am, flexible concerning budget, but the lower the better. So be my obi-wan and help me. Y'all are my only hope(s).

    As an Apple fanboy, I would disagree with the other gentlemen on here. The Macbook air is about 200 cheaper. Keep it at 8 gig ram, and increase the ssd (or or work off an external drive or NAS) and use that money torwards an egpu which can then can be used for gaming. At 8gigs ram, and an SSD and EGPU (even better if you can reuse an older graphics card you already own) you should be able to game on the new Macbook Air. Just my 2 cents.

    Hello LinusTech Community, I trust you are doing well. This is my introduction post. I am 31 and working on a MS in Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Springfield. My undergraduate was in French from Laval University in Quebec City Canada. I'm a bit of an Apple fanboy, though I have always tried to use different devices and platforms through out my life. My first computer/OS was an Intel Pentium computer running Windows 95 and my first video games were Doom and Are you Afraid of the Dark: Tales of Orpheo's Curse. I'm not a huge gammer, but I'm a casual gamer. I love a good story and great characters and a fun fps. My current devices are a late 2016 15 inch macbook pro with touch bar (i have an egpu), google pixel 2, and an iPad pro (last year's model) 10 inch. I use a standing desk and dual monitors (1 four k- the apple lg monitor and an asus hd monitor which I mainly use for coding). Outside of tech, I enjoy kayaking, reading literary magazines, and learning to cook new things. I love learning new things and I hope to learn a lot of you all here.
