  4. I really need help I've done everything short of buying a brand new laptop. It only happens on certain websites at random and at random times. I fully reset my laptop and its still thete, other browsers don't work so its definitely my laptop. If anyone can help me before I give up and toss this junk out, my network adapter is ac 9462 from intel
  5. Ik now I have a TB3 port, but now I want to know if I have a x4 or x2, I used a program called HWiNFO but I have no clue what to look for.
  6. I posted about this earlier, I have the exact same laptop. Currently my understand is this: Having a EGPU is gonna be much more powerful then what a 1050ti can do. A lot of people think the performance drop is a big takeaway, but the only people I see really needing a EGPU is when they having a laptop that can't game or is horrible at gaming period. Even with the performance drop, its gonna be worth it. Theres plenty of EGPU enclosures that are relatively cheap that'll work out, just make sure that the graphics card you get can fit into the EGPU enclosure. In terms of price, you gotta think about it like this: Getting a EGPU with lets say a 1070 or 1080 or 1080ti plus the enclosure is gonna cost you around 1000 to 1300. A lot of people say at that point you might as well get a desktop, but that's not a option for a lot of people, and lets be honest if you looking at getting a EGPU its because you need something portable. Getting a LAPTOP with the same 1080 or 1070 is gonna run you like 1500 to up to 4k for the higher end ones like the titan with a 1080. The cheapest I found was 1500 with a 1070, used of course.
  7. wouldnt i be in danger of damaging the graphics card if I tried to squeeze it in, don't they need space to cool? As far as I know thats why a lot of higher end laptops tend to get bulkier to get more fans in to cool those gpus
  8. guess i got researching to do. thanks for all the help!
  9. I was thinking about getting the Aorus gaming box that comes with a 1080. My friend was willign to sell me a 1080ti for a good price since he plans on getting a 2080ti but I dont know if size is a issue, not sure if egpu enclosures or graphics cards come in different sizes.
  10. I just made a thread with a picture, another user helped me confirm it was actually a TB3. Heres a site that says it either comes with a TB3 or without, I don't think theres a inbetween https://laptopmedia.com/review/dell-g3-17-3779-review-is-this-the-best-value-17-inch-laptop-for-gaming/ I might've just had an older model before they changed their policy?, I only bought it for 950 on a black friday deal on a lesser known website so I wouldn't be surprised if I got trolled
  11. we figured it out it actually does have a TB3. Most sites i've looked at shows it with either no USBc or specifically saying theres a optional USBC with thunderbolt 3 .. i hope
  12. Cool, thanks for the concern though, I guess this case was a outlier but I'm sure you would've stopped me from spending like 800 dollars of worthless money if Dell was accurate.
  13. I can probably open it up and send a picture, the original site I bought it from advertised it as having one. Its fine you guys know way more then me. and who knows I might've been trolled honestly someone knew i was gonna wanna upgrade at some point
  14. Im pretty sure this is TB3 but before I dump money into getting a egpu I really wanna make sure.
  15. Yeah because Im like really pretty sure I have it, but then you guys said no and that honestly changed my world tbh.
  16. indeed im now very confused because someone else said that it must be a charging symbol but idk about that but I legit have no clue how computers work so.
  17. Wait im confused, I see a typce C usb with a thunderbolt thingie on the side of it. is that not a sign of TB?
  18. https://www.adorama.com/deg37797934b.html?discontinued=t tb3?
  19. are you sure i see the TB3 port on the side and it has the thunderbolt program installed
  20. Im going into the military , not really trying to bring a desktop onto barracks.
  21. I definitely understand and I'm prepared to leave this laptop in the next year or two. But for now I just want a cheap option to enjoy some modern games.
  22. By how much? I've heard it bottlenecks a lot, is it really significant? or in the end will it still be much better?
  23. So, I have a dell g3 17 with a i7 8750 and a 1050ti. Its been going well for gaming, can't run anything on ultra sadly but hey it was a good deal and I still consider this a good laptop for the games I want to play. I want to be able to upgrade the GPU to something like a 1080 or even a 2080 in the future, so I've been looking at a EGPU. This laptop has TB3 so that's no problem. I'm under the impression that if im going to get a EGPU to do better then my 1050ti, ill have to shell out some money so I don't mind that. I hope It'll still end up being cheaper then buying a 1080 laptop for like 2000 or more dollars. Getting a desktop is not a option. Will a 1080 egpu with TB3 perform better then my 1050ti laptop?
