  1. the A2000 is (in one store at least, others are a bit more) 40usd, so pretty much the same as the SN550. As for longevity (or warranty too) that could be useful since this country's inflation could potentially make a future SSD purchase harder; that and maybe "future proofing" if I ever decide to do something involving video editing or any task that actually benefits from the better drive.
  2. The prices would be like 40usd for the SN550 and 58usd for the SN750; most in the list I guess are around 45-60usd~; and the 1tb SN550 I think is around 77usd; which (in local currency) would be outside the remaining budget I have after getting the PSU. I can probably live with 500gb (or like 740gb counting the Kingston one) for a while but maybe I can get the extra money to get the 1tb SN550. is the WD Black that much better? I remember the Linus video talking about the newer, worse version of the Blue SN550 so there's that.
  3. I'm finishing getting parts for a new PC but I need to get a new SSD since my current one is only 240GB (Kingston A400) and the HDD is staying in the current PC. My new motherboard is an MSI B460M Mortar (Wifi) that's gonna be paired with an i5 10400; according to the MSI website, it has 2 M.2 slots. I'm mostly gonna be doing some gaming (stuff like FFXIV and generally games that aren't above 70GB) and maybe stuff like Illustrator and Lightroom, but nothing particularly huge in file size; and Windows will likely be installed on this drive. The SSDs I found where I live, put in relative price order (these are all 500GB) are: - Western Digital WD Green SN350 - Kingston NV1 - Western Digital WD Blue SN550 - Kingston A2000 - Adata Swordfish - Kingston KC2500 - Adata Falcon - Crucial P2 - Adata XPG Gammix S11 Pro - Western Digital WD Black SN750 - Crucial P5 - PNY XLR8 CS3030 Some of these have DRAM, some don't, but I have no idea what DRAM really does or if it's worth the bit of extra money for it in my personal case. All of these are, if converted to USD, between 35 to 60usd or so.
  4. I think it was Kingston 16Gb 1333hz DDR3 with it being 8+4+4; during the 10 months or so of not having a GPU on the PC I didn't have this issue so idk if the RAM would be a likely culprit
  5. I recently got an SSD; and a GPU to replace my seemingly dead old one (R9 270); I assume the problem is the GPU but I mention the SSD in case it's relevant. Basically the screen randomly will go black or blue or gray (no text or anything, and haven't tested yet if sound still works) and the only way to fix it is by holding power button until it's off, and then turning it on again; which often results in windows taking quite a bit longer to boot than usual (1 minute maybe, compared to how normally it'd be less than 15 seconds). At first it happened mostly when the PC was entirely idle and not being used, or doing stuff that shouldn't stress the GPU much, like browsing with google chrome, using discord etc; but now I had it crash when trying to start FFXIV or the Apex Legends menu. EventViewer gives me Event ID 41 Kernel-Power (which may just be me forcing shut down); and then Event ID 10110 and 10111 DriverFrameworks-UserMode. HWMonitor temperatures of the GPU are 30-54°C on idle (may depend on whether I have one or both monitors plugged) and at that range the GPU fans are off; while on load playing when it was working fine, it was around 72°C (with fans now on) I'm wondering if my old GPU's death is somewhat related or not; or if it's a driver related issue or simply a bad GPU that came defective; perhaps an issue with the PSU not delivering enough power even though it should be enough. Specs: Intel i5 3570K; Asus P8Z77-M; MSI Armor Radeon RX 570 (19.10.2 drivers, but the 17.something ones I had when I installed the GPU also had the same issue); XFX Pro 650W XXX Edition (Semi modular); Western Digital Blue 1tb HDD; Kingston A400 240GB SSD; Freshly installed and not even activated Windows 10 Home 64-bit.
  6. Sorry for such late reply, was busy with something and forgot to check replies. Yes, my friend sent me https://www.fnac.com/ as a place they might buy it from; I'm not sure what low sRGB is honestly (if it's related to colour accuracy or better colours well, as long as it's not noticeably terrible compared to a fairly old Macbook then it's fine) and as far as I know, he doesn't really care about upgradeability much.
  7. A friend and I are trying to choose a laptop for his brother whose old macbook broke, but I'm not that knowledgeable about laptops and so I wanted to ask here for some recommendations. So here's the info I have: - He is currently in France (not entirely sure where, but most likely in a rural area from what I know, so he may not have many shops nearby; however Amazon is obviously an option) - Budget is 800 euros top ideally, it's gonna be mostly for media so a fancy gaming laptop is not necessary as it's not gonna be used for gaming. - He seems to prefer smaller size so 13'' screen is good. - Optical drive is not necessary. - Battery life is important, he wants a laptop with good battery life. - Since he's mostly streaming (Netflix and such), storage doesn't seem all that important. - He doesn't really care if it's foldable (like those that kinda become tablets) so no need for that. I mention the budget was 800 euro at most but to be honest there may be good laptops for like 500 considering the main important things would be battery life, and I assume a 1080p screen, which for 13'' should look pretty good for watching stuff on Netflix. So TL;DR: what's the laptop with best battery life for under 800 Euro, for watching Netflix (in France). Do please give recommendations of different prices rather than just the best that happens to be just under 800, I want him to have options of different prices.
  8. After trying to play Overwatch normally like usual, the monitors went dark and after rebooting the PC, everything (that didn't use the GPU much, like Photoshop, chrome and anything else) worked fine, with the GPU plugged in, and without any monitor issues; but after re-trying to open Overwatch a while later, the same happened but this time, after rebooting, the monitors stayed dark and I'm not sure if the PC even fully booted because the keyboard and mouse lights were off. After rebooting some times, the monitor would work (showing a Windows trying to repair message, followed by the PC telling me it didn't find how to fix it and giving me options such as reversing to previous windows version and such, which I ignored and just tried the "Exit and go to Windows" to attempt to boot again). So now basically, if I remove the GPU from the motherboard and boot the computer, it boots and works normally (and well, the monitors in this case plugged to motherboard) so with that I assume all PC components aside from GPU should be working fine; but if I put in the GPU again, plug monitors to it and boot the PC, it either works for a very short while (with wrong resolution, but before I even get to change it, monitor goes dark again and I can't do anything) or it simply has the monitors dark from the beginning (until, again, the windows repair message shows up). I've cleaned the PC and got a fair amount of dust out of the GPU (in case it IS dead, that may be part of why..); I tried the other PCI-E slot; I've tried another 6-pin in case that one somehow had a pin not working or something. I uninstalled AMD drivers to see if having them later reinstalled could help (assuming the issue was a driver one). I don't know what else to try. If the GPU is dead well, that's it; but I just want to make sure it is before putting it away permanently and checking prices to buy something else in the future. I don't have another PC or another GPU to try anything with that, in case you wonder. The full PC specs are: Intel i5 3570K; ASUS P8Z77-M; XFX 650W PSU; 16GB RAM (I think it was 4+4+8, since I have 3 DIMMs); and the GPU in question is a Sapphire R9 270 OC Edition. Sorry for long post, just wanted to give some info if it helps.
