i got the preview driver that allows afmf to work on 6000 series and the only issue i have come across is that i need to disable and re enable sam to make it work whenever i turned off the pc. other than that though? no issues with my 5800x3d and 6950xt built.

pricing looks better in the us than it actually is due to taxes coming onto it and the dollar being less valuable than the pound or euro. here a 6800 can be had for about 460 euros. which is inline with around 390 pounds. the 6800 is definitely worth it. although, you may want to check how 7700xts or 7800xts are priced. if you can find a 7800xt that fits within what you would like get that instead. you can always do an cpu upgrade later on. this also goes for when you would buy a 6800.

Just CPU, CPU-OPT, SYS1 and SYS2 fan headers. I try to set the Pumps to 100% no matter what. Not a fan of Gigabytes software.
The Rad is getting warm to the touch after a 15 Minutes of All 16 Cores at 100% CPU usage. I am not joking when I said I push it hard, it was a render, btw.
There's a 5th fan in the BIOS/HW Info but I think that's referring to the one built on to the MB.

Sorry I only noticed this now but I'm not sure about it.
The ASUS TUF RTX 3060 I was looking at I noticed the front grill where the fans are is made of metal.
If it's made of metal wouldn't that potentially cause higher temperature ?
I'm trying to choose between these 2 cards
https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-Graphics-DisplayPort-Military-Grade-Certification/dp/B0985VND1G
OR
Which do you guys think is a better option ?
Also which has better cooling ?
it wont and get the 3060 tuf. as long as its the 12gb vram version but it will say it in the name or specs.

Build a new PC around the 7800X3d and I'm not sure what card to pick
the 4080 costs 20% more, but with DLSS wouldn't it be better value in the future?
also, I saw that the 7900XTX had a lot of power issues and weird bugs when it launched, were they fixed?
since your buying a 4080 or 7900xtx it would mean you either play at 1440p or 4k where dlss really doesnt give you much better of a picture over fsr. and thus i wouldnt worry about dlss.
so definitely get the 7900xtx. It performs better in most titles. it has more vram. it is cheaper. its a literal waste of your money to spend it on the 4080. -

haven been in the techscene for a while so im not sure what is good now!
currently have a 2080 ti and a ryzen 5700X! i just bought a better monitor ultrawide 3440X1440 144hz!
and now my gpu cant utilize the monitors full capabilities! im playing current games!
what gpu would be good?
thanks in advance!
anything thats at least 100% as good. so for you and because you choose this resolution i wouldnt put anything less than a 7900xtx/4080.
but if thats too high of a price, you can always get the 6950xt/4070ti but vram and the lack there of makes the 4070ti not worth it for its price in my opinion. so in my opinion 6950xt or 7900xt. or maybe a 3090/3090ti if you can find one second hand thats good -

Hi, I've been looking for an upgrade from my 2060 super, and I've been back and forth between the 6700xt and 6800, but think I've settled on the 6800. My question is will my 10400 bottleneck it? I'm upgrading within the next couple months and wonder if I'd need to get a better CPU to let my fully utilize it. In games like BeamNG or Minecraft, my little i5 is showing its age more, but in most games it's fine for now. But that doesn't mean it'll be okay with a beefy 6800, so will it be an issue? I play at 144Hz (I like to have around 90fps avg to keep the 1% lows a bit higher), 1440p, and at whatever settings I can chuck at it with that smooth framerate. Thanks!!
yes it will bottleneck it but amd has better driver overhead than nvidia and thus it wont be thaat bad.

My 2060 just died on me and am looking at new ones. I'm looking at a 3060TI, https://www.ebay.com/itm/256210728400?hash=item3ba75975d0:g:OX4AAOSwXe1k-kjZ&amdata=enc%3AAQAIAAAA4O1dof4mb1A1RvGl0He0LyEETyoEbcBum%2BEA2x7XVveKlUueB2i4PhIWkrhBPQWV3LBlKClAm%2FhbxZag59pyp76ik3obuytBFfcrq7s5Nl87eJORguqByKF%2BmLJz6QBqv7D8pD3Ozyf1Xn%2FizwcburOLi0oUZUrXW3jT7vwYLBKWe51bCEt0nwydz0Xo55%2F35KNv1imhnp8dEnnwiHKFPtwSbgz2tT0K5m8DkBlloo1G%2Fb8pOmcU3zjr9KH1kT2twbpv6oAbupevAHUFcOdBp7ne7qwUD9%2Fjz9RIED4V0Ro%2B|tkp%3ABk9SR_ij9vPQYg, and was also thinking of getting a 6700XT. I would rather stick with NVIDIA but was wondering if this was the right choice. I'm running an i7 6700 and 16gb ram. My price range is $250-300ish
if you can find a 6700xt definitely get that. more vram. more performance. fsr isnt so bad and you will have access to fsr3 in the near future same as antilag+ which is like reflex. and for your current cpu amd just works better with it due to their driver overhead which get better perf out of older cpus compared to nvidia.
And then later upgrade your cpu when you can. -

I probably didn't explain it well.
I meant to say : are the current cables from my PSU good to use if i switch from the 1660 super to the 3060 ?
I mean can i just replace GPUs without messing with the cables too much ?
yes both use 1 8pin power connector.

I didn't install the GTX 1660 SUPER.
A tech service where i live did - they said it was free because i had bought other parts from them back then.

Any advice on how to install the GPU like physically ?
I'm kinda hoping i won't fuck up something.
the same way you installed the 1660

Wanted to ask you something because i only noticed this now.
The ASUS TUF RTX 3060 i was looking at has 5 video outputs :
- 4 ports are placed horizontally on the back of the card
- 1 port, i believe it's HDMI is placed right above those 4 ports
Will that cause any issues when i install it in my case ?
My GTX 1660 SUPER has only 4 ports, it doesn't have any above - im wondering about the size and if it will fit ?
I am really worried about installing the GPU.
I want to do it myself but i never actually installed other GPUs before.
I only heard it's pretty easy that you place the GPU in the MOBO's slot and then connect the power cable - sorry if i sound like a noob but i'm not that good with hardware.
will be no problem

I mean that's the thing it's factory OC.
I'm not gonna mess with it at all.
But if it's factory OC like isn't stock supposed to be not overclocked ?
A gpu will always oc. It auto overclocks or "boosts" on its own. Some just boost higher than the other with a higher value set by manufacturers like msi and such
-
8 minutes ago, Mikey89 said:
So if that ASUS TUF RTX 3060 i found is factory OC it shouldn't be any problem right ?
I mean it won't die way faster, it should last as long as any GPU right?
I saw it has a 3 year warranty.
yes unless you destroy it yourself
it wont, unless you destroy it yourself leave at stock if you dont want to mess with it.
3 years is nice. -

TEMPS:
Under average gaming load-
CPU 64-70°
GPU 77-82°
completely fine no need to have worries
my 5800x3d reaches 82 degrees under load. but then again, its hot here and my room is a heat trap (carpet and it gets blasted by the sun at the hottest hours) and i only have a 240 aio. also, its top mounted.
gpu of mine reaches about 71 temp with 93 hotspot on the cooling profile i set for it. without it on an oc profile about 80-85 ish temp and 102 hotspot in my current room environment.
so your temps are perfectly fine in my humble opinion. game on. -

Sorry kinda confused about something.
I'm seeing for example some vendors have the same GPU but in 2 variants : REGULAR and OC.
I know OC means it's factory oveclocked but is it safer to buy an OC GPU even if it's new ?
From what i know overclocking a GPU usually reduces it's lifespan.
oc is just a fancy word after the name for a card that indeed comes a biter higher clocked out of the gate. But its completely safe. no reasons to worry about it. They (every gpu) are after all, ALWAYS higher clocked out the gate. some (oc models) just a bit higher and its still fine
17 minutes ago, Mikey89 said:But i mean are factory OC cards more proned to way smaller lifespans ?
I usually always tried to avoid OC cards or OC-ing my own card.
no they arent unless you yourself do something terribly wrong to them which i doubt you will do.
you only have to oc a card if its not doing the perf you want it to do anymore or if you know what you are doing and have no problems with ocing -

Well I do like the TUF's design more and having 3 fans instead of 2 is always a plus in my book.
The thing about ZOTAC is when I googled it like pretty much every other forum i was looking at - people were saying they overheat often.
I even found a topic in this forum with someone saying their ZOTAC was idling at 50-60'C.
idling doesnt matter. only look at what reviewers say on youtube. Not what random people write. you dont know their setup, their countries temps their house conditions etc.
2 hours ago, Mikey89 said:Oh forgot to mention something.
If I am using a GIGABYTE B550M DS3H motherboard would the ASUS TUF RTX 3060 cause any issues with the heatsink ?
I read when googling that the longer the GPU the higher chances to mess up something with the heatsink.
doubt it

Guess what ?
The ASUS TUF I was looking at earlier IS actually 40-50 euros more expensive than the ZOTAC Twin Edge models.
zotac twin edge model is fine too. wouldnt spend over 50 bucks more on the tuff when its not a difficult card to cool anyway so the extra fan isnt really needed
-

i would go with asus UNLESS its way more expensive (50+). else zotac.

Sorry I edited my post above.
I'm guessing ASUS's TUF models don't have any problems with cooling correct ?
as far as i know they do alright.

Thanks, I wasn't really sure because the ASUS TUF RTX 3060 has 3 fans and is longer than my ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1660 SUPER.
330 on mine vs 300~ on the 3060. and i still have room for maybe an extra 30 ish mm

I'll probably look at some more YT channels.
Quasarzone is in correan which i do not understand, i did search their channel but found nothing about 3060s from ZOTAC and HW cooling had nothing about the ZOTAC RTX 3060 cards on their website.
Also would the ASUS TUF RTX 3060 fit inside the COOLER MASTER MASTERBOX MB511 ?
That's the case i'm using
https://www.coolermaster.com/catalog/legacy-products/cases/masterbox-mb511-rgb/
if i can fit a 6950xt in my case you can fit a 3060 in yours

To be honest im not going for 144 FPS gaming - for me anything between 60-100 FPS is good, i believe PC gaming is always good if you're staying above the golden "60 FPS".
BTW between ASUS, GIGABYTE, ZOTAC which brand should i go for ?
I heard ZOTAC cards overheat a lot but then again GIGABYTE seems to have bad customer service.
i personally wouldnt spend 300 bucks on 1080p gaming card only to end up with just above 60 fps performance.
But it is better to have at least above 60 yes.
Zotac cards are from my knowledge fine. asus is fine just more expensive and gigabyte is oke besides their fan problem.
What you should do is look at the model you want to buy then look up if there is a youtube video on the performance of the cooler in cooling as well as how noisy they are.
Worth upgrading from 6900XT to 4070TI?
in Graphics Cards

its more than enough. buying a 4070ti is a waste of money. especially now that afmf is a thing. Just go download the preview driver and voila frame gen in all dx11/dx12 games. also play at 1440p and i personally havent noticed any issue with quality while just normal gaming.
