  1. Hi there, I have a sinology RT2600ac and a RT1900ac. I recently moved to a new house that does not have Coax or Ethernet up stairs. I have the RT2600 with the modem on the 1st floor and want to set up my RT1900ac on the 2nd floor in "client Mode" Synology says it will set up the router to be a Client on your wifi network and convert it to ethernet for wired devices. it does not seem to work for me even when I set it up in the same sub net. NAT is disabled (but it think it may be stuck on since I cant ping other devices), and so is DHCP. I have also tried using DHCP in with a different pool of IP addresses with no luck. the RT1900ac will connect to the WiFi network and will download Packages from the Package manager store. but mu devices are still off line. unfortunately this is a rental. otherwise I would just run Cat 6 or Coax in the Wall and be done with it. have a great evening. any thoughts are welcome!
  2. linus mentioned he got some 4 terabyte SSD, that he said were from Facebook Liquidation? Where did he find those?

  6. Hello LTT Forums! I am building a PC for myself after being off in mac land for a while. After watching LTTs videos for the last 3 months it has inspired me to dive back into the PC Gaming Seen. I will be building this PC with some parts from the Shop/black Friday sales. But would love some feedback about this build. Its Intel since I have been out in Mac land (Due to employment Requirements) and would like to dual boot to macOS if needed. I would like to have RGB in the new pc and would prefer everything to be under the same ecosystem. So far, I have landed on ASUS AURA Sync. But I Am not attached to it as long as I can get full integration with something. Thanks for your thoughts in advance! Here is what I have planned so far: Case: NZXT H700 in Blue (Own) Motherboard: Asus - PRIME Z390-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard (Looking at, Not sure if the best Choice) CPU: i7 9700k (Own) GPU: Thinking something in the RTX 20 series but not sure what budget is around $600 Cooler: Asus - ROG RYUO 240 RGB 80.95 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler (Looking at, Not sure if the best Choice) RAM: G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 F4-3200C16D-16GTZR (Looking at, Not sure if the best Choice) Storage: 970 Evo NVMe SSD (own) Power Supply: Corsair RMx 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX (own) PC Part Picker: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant Type Item Price CPU Intel - Core i7-9700K 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor $409.99 @ Amazon CPU Cooler Asus - ROG RYUO 240 RGB 80.95 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler $157.82 @ Newegg Motherboard Asus - PRIME Z390-A ATX LGA1151 Motherboard $183.00 @ Amazon Memory G.Skill - Trident Z RGB 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory $120.88 @ OutletPC Storage Samsung - 970 Evo 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive $241.72 @ Amazon Video Card Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2060 6 GB WINDFORCE OC Video Card $369.99 @ Amazon Case NZXT - H700 (Black/Blue) ATX Mid Tower Case $149.99 @ Amazon Power Supply Corsair - RMx 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply $159.89 @ OutletPC Operating System Microsoft - Windows 10 Pro OEM 64-bit $139.89 @ OutletPC Monitor LG - 34UM88C-P 34.0" 3440x1440 60 Hz Monitor $469.00 @ Amazon Prices include shipping, taxes, rebates, and discounts Total (before mail-in rebates) $2432.17 Mail-in rebates -$30.00 Total $2402.17 Generated by PCPartPicker 2019-03-22 03:46 EDT-0400
  7. We need the 8 Bays on the DS1819+ and the Expansion card slot for 10 gig network.
  8. I am now looking at Buying a new Synology NAS I could go with an RS1219+ or a DS1819+ What would you go with and why? i will be maxing out the ram and buying 10GB FSP Cards for networking. I would prefer not to use QNAP since they do not support different sized drives. I Currently own an DS1819+ that I would transition to use for back up of the new NAS. I am Leaning toward an additional DS1819+ with The support for 32GB Ram and Higher Read/Write, and ability to add 2 expansion units if needed down the road. only sacrificing .3ghz and Rackmount.
  9. We are using SHR-2 With 8x 8TB Seagate Ironwolf Pro 7200 RPM. 256mb cache. the network is Maxed, however, we offload media with direct attached storage during the week as well. I am not at work to show network stats at the moment.
  10. I have the choice of expanding my DS1819+ with an E10G17-F2 for 10gig SFP to my UBNT 48 Port Edge switch or Dual SSD Expansion Card with 2x Samsung 970s 1TB for a good SSD cache. I have about 4-6 users accessing it at the same time, accessing our 4K video archive. we use Black Magic Recorders that export directly to the NAS over the network. their workflow is to offload the clip to an internal SSD to edit, then upload the complete clip to the NAS for Publishing on our plaforms. (Facebook, Vimeo, youtube and our website) Your thoughts are welcome!
  11. @Axeoasis I actually use Jump Desktop for my remote client. it works really well and takes up phew resources when running in the background. chrome can be a mem hog if you don't quit it from time to time.
  12. I want something I can power up even if it's in the middle of the night from across the US. thanks for the input!
  13. I have looked into Rasberry Pi a couple years ago. I like this idea. thanks for the tip!
  14. I am starting a new project and thought I would ask the LTT Forms before I got too deep in the project for any tips, thoughts, and general advice. So Here is the project. I am building a pc for Gaming!!! and video transcoding from Blueray/DVD format to MKV for Plex & Video Station on my Synology. I am away from home a lot and would like to be able to remote into my computer at my leisure. to check in on the transcoding and a couple other odds and ends. The only problem is Wake on LAN can be flakey at best and doesn't work if the computer is shut down. and i want to be able to let my computer go to sleep to save power. that being said I am trying to find a solution that will look better than sticking MicroBot Push to the front of the machine! I will probably end up with a relay inside of the machine, but I need to figure out what controller to use and how to set it up to be remotely tripped. your ideas and thoughts are welcome!
