So i have a fancy smanchy HX1000i with the proprietary monitoring software Corsair Link.
I also have to wait till my vega 64 comes back from the RMA repair. (3 weeks tomorrow).
So i needed a graphics card, i had to pick between a Sapphire X1950 Pro or a HD 6870, so i dust off (quite literally) my HD 6870, which was replaced by 960 due to graphical glitches, which is currently in use and also experiencing graphical glitches.
I suspect that the HD 6870 thermal paste has turned into sandpaper, because the graphical errors appear right around 40 degrees C.
Im guessing the junction temperature is quite a bit higher?
Will the graphical errors disappear if i put on new thermal paste or is there likely more problems than that and will probably resemble putting bandaid on a gushing wound?
(Gray/black screen with static 5 mm vertical darker lines running in a 10 mm pattern like so = [IIIIII]. ALSO sometimes the right side of the screen jumps to the left side of the screen from the normal [1I2] to [2I1] ) and stays like that till i take the load off, after which it usually crashes or normalizes)
