  1. @ esper22 Thanks for your feedback! @Herman Mcpootis I hear what you are saying. The prices on those pre-built systems were just very tempting. Some of the parts looked OK to me, but I am not overly experienced with these things (I built my office PC back in 2014, but it was pretty basic; I didn't even use a discrete GPU). But I think I would like to build it myself. And Micro Center has the i7-8700K on sale for $300, so that pretty much wipes out the price advantage. Granted, the pre-built has an i7-9700K, but I don't know if that is something I should get too excited about. They also had the Dell monitor you recommended for $350, and an Asus one I was looking at for $200. So I think I can put something better together myself. I may still investigate the AMD route, but that is going to require more research on my part. I hate my OCD.
  2. First of all, love the location. My wagon isn't quite a $100k, but I still love it. Second, thanks for the build. I am close to a Micro Center, so I took a look at their website to see what kind of deals they had, and this is what I found: PowerSpec RTX 2080 PowerSpec RTX 2070 and yet another PowerSpec RTX 2070 I checked pcpartpicker and I don't think I can beat the prices on any of these. Does anyone have any experience with PowerSpec? I don't know if the pictures are representative of the parts used, but it looks like all of the GPUs are from Zotac, and the motherboards are either Asus or ASRock. I am going to bump around the web to see if I can find some reviews of these systems. Any feedback you all might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  3. Sweet. I will play around with you recommended and see what I can come up with. Thanks for your advice!
  4. I'll take a look at the GTX 1070 Ti. I am not opposed the Pascal cards; I just figured I might as well get the new architecture.
  5. Budget is for everything. I already have a mouse, so at least I don't need that.
  6. Budget & Location I am in the U.S. and budget is $2000. Aim Gaming only (mostly RPGs and some FPS), single player only, and no streaming. I don’t multitask while gaming (I even close my browser before launching a game). I won’t be overclocking. I don’t even think I will be interested in VR. Monitor I have a small workspace, so nothing bigger than 24”. 1080p is fine with me, and I would prefer something with flicker-free technology. I guess I could do 1440p, but that might be too much for my poor eyes. I usually sit 20-24” away from my screen. Peripherals and Other Needs I will need a wireless adapter, which is why I selected the motherboard below. This is what I have come up with so far: PCPartPicker part list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4wmppG CPU: Intel - Core i7-8700K 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor ($368.99 @ Amazon) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO ($28.53 @ Amazon) Motherboard: ASRock - Z370 Killer SLI/ac ATX LGA1151 Motherboard ($143.88 @ OutletPC) Memory: Corsair - Vengeance LPX 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($129.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 250 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($52.99 @ Amazon) Storage: Seagate - Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive ($58.89 @ OutletPC) Video Card: MSI - GeForce RTX 2070 8 GB Video Card ($504.99 @ Newegg) Case: Corsair - Air 540 ATX Mid Tower Case ($119.99 @ B&H) Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G2 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ($69.99 @ Amazon) Optical Drive: Asus - DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS DVD/CD Writer ($21.89 @ OutletPC) Operating System: Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit ($98.89 @ OutletPC) Keyboard: Kingston - HyperX Alloy Elite Wired Gaming Keyboard ($79.99 @ Amazon) Total: $1680.01 The GPU is kind of a shot in the dark, as there aren’t a whole lot of reviews out yet for the various manufacturers’ cards, so feedback would be welcome. Assuming all of the other parts look good, I will have $320 to spend on a monitor, which I am really stuck on what to get. One that seems to tick all of the boxes is the MSI Optix MAG24C. I am open to other suggestions, though. One other note is that I am not opposed to an AMD build. I built the exact same thing as above, but changed the CPU to the Ryzen 7 2700x and the motherboard to the ASRock X470 Master SLI/AC. I am assuming I can use the stock cooler with the CPU, so the total would drop to $1611.28. Not a huge difference, but enough that I could use the extra money to expand my monitor budget. Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!
