Max Eckhardt's Achievements

  1. No dice. I think it’s doing ram timings or something. Every time it boots.
  2. I used aXMP profile 1 to automatically set my ram to 6000MT/s
  3. It’s every time. Interestingly, my friend built the exact same PC as me. And we both have the same problem.
  4. I’ve just built a new PC. Gigabyte B650 Aorus Elite AX motherboard AMD Ryzen 7700X PNY GeForce RTX 3089 12GB Kingston Fury Beast 32 GB DDR5 overclocked to 6000MT/s WD Black SN850 2TB M.2 I turn my PC on but my screen receives no signal for quite a long time with the case fans I believe ramping up and down until finally Windows 11 Pro (currently unauthenticated) boots. I timed it at 1:12 What could be causing this strange phenomena, do you think?
  5. I’m planning a new build. I have all of my components except the motherboard. AM5 B650 motherboards released in the UK on Monday. I preordered one, but they are all listed as out of stock with no pending dates. I’m new to all this, but it seems very strange that every board on every website in the UK are out of stock despite releasing 4 days ago. Does this kind of thing normally happen? I wonder how long I’m going to have to wait.
  6. That’s similar to what my friend was saying. So I think I’ll look to get a B650 that delivers 230V to the CPU.
  7. I see. I think AMD mentioned 230V on the AM5 socket? So I’ll make sure whatever board I get can deliver that.
  8. I’m going to buy the Ryzen 7700X cpu later this month and I’m thinking about the board I’ll buy. I only intend to use my PC for gaming. AMD has made a big thing about boards coming with PCIe slots for the GPU and M.2 drives. A few friends have told me not to buy the X or E boards, but to just get a cheap B board and save so money. What say you, does a gamer who isn’t interested in anything but vanilla gaming need an X or Extreme board? And what about future compatibility, when I buy a replacement CPU and GPU 3 or 4 years down the line, would PCIe 5 be useful then, or as my friends say, 4 hasn’t even made a big difference for the 3090 RTX so 5 isn’t likely to be practically useful for 5-10 years.
  9. I’d like to ask about PCIe 5. I was recently told that PCIe 5 is overkill for a simple gaming PC. That the upcoming 4080 RTX won’t use it, neither will any M.2 drive necessary to run games. Is this true? I’ve been told to forget about the E and X boards and just get a cheap B board.
  10. I think 2025 was the minimum guarantee AMD gave.
  11. I understand that, I just want to give myself the best change of future compatibility without paying for features I don’t/won’t need. I could make an informed decision if I understood the boards a bit better.
  12. I was just trying to educate myself on what I need ahead of time. I didn’t mean to upset you.
  13. Budget (including currency): £2000 Country: UK Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): 1000W PSU, AMD Ryzen 7700, Nivida 4080 RTX, 32GB DDR5, 2TB M.2, NZXT H7 Flow, Cooler Master ML360R RGB, NZXT F120 RGB 120mm triple Starter Pack So I’ve decided to buy an AMD 7700 CPU for my new PC build. I’m excited by the prospect of the AM5 socket being supported to 2025. I need a motherboard that will support a 2025 CPU and GPU. So that would be PCIe 5 for the GPU, right? I know that much, but not much else. AMD mentioned for board classes X670E, X67, B650E, and B650. What are the main differences, what features do I need and which can I pass on?
